This makes all kinds of sense to me, so thanks! I am also a SAR team member and our gear is required to be organized, in good working order, complete and in some cases, redundent. We never know when we are going to be called out, or where we might be going and not kidding...the tempature range for us is anywhere from 125F here is the desert, to the mountains 75 miles away where it can be below 0. There is one thing I see too much of and it's people going out to do anything away from home with not enough drinking water as well as electrolytes (my choice is the small packets of Propel mix). When hunting, I take that extra rifle, but I go lightweight with it knowing I will have to get closer to the game if I had to switch rifles, but the second rifle is dead-nuts on and the ammo it likes is with the spare mag. In short, I second what you just showed us and learned a few things new...good shit Main-AR'd!

I have a back pack I carry extra stuff in. Optic cleaning whips and rag. Gun tools, torque wrench. Spare batterys for ecaller and remote. Not really a kit just misc stuff I think I need.

Most of my tool kit is to get the vehicle back to home base. Other than a Leatherman AR Tool. That's about all I carry in my pack or on my person. But I always carry at least 1 extra weapon. Shotgun, rifle, whatever I am hunting. Most of my "prepper" stuff that gets broken down to 4 tiers is first aid related. I don't mind a ruined day from weapon issues. Safety issues will live with you forever if you are not prepared. Ask me how I know

I even bring an extra rifle or shotgun for the day hunt. I don’t get out as much as I would like therefore I’m not even going to take time to fix a gun in the field, way faster to switch guns and get back to hunting. Then fix it after the hunt. I’ll carry tools for that.
