The Mayones Cali4 mini bass is best when playing with the ukulele in my opinion. I am a bass and ukulele player so that’s why I was drawn to this mini bass. I play my bass line on my bass amp with the Mayones Cali4 and then I pick up my ukulele and strum along to it. I wish I knew how to record it for all to listen too!
@@EnforcerX Interesting, because I emailed Hadean / Rondo, and they said they don't recommend switching to steel strings because it could cause stress / damage to the bridge. But apparently you haven't had any trouble?! Also... how helpful do you find the cut away to be? Do you use that higher range much? Thanks!
@@EnforcerX Also can you tell me what kind of a pick-up they have on there? And wondering how the pick-up handles the difference between the rubber strings vs the steel strings. I've seen some ppl upgrade to a Fishman pick-up? If you have any thoughts about that... Thanks!
@@flywesleybyrd I've been using these steel strings for years and have had no problem. They are steel wrapped around a nylon core, so they're not like normal roundwound bass strings. As far as the cutaway, it's nice to have for some chordal work, but it's also not that big of a deal.
@@flywesleybyrd I have the stock pickup. I personally wouldn't upgrade it considering this is a very cheap instrument. The pickup alone would cost more than the UBass. It depends on what you are wanting out of it. I have this bass as a travel instrument. If you're wanting this to be a gigging instrument, I'd just invest in something from Kala.
