@@dhampir_days I think it's more annoyance at the fight than genuine misogyny. Like even the people who hate fighting her thinks she's cool. It's the Shinobu situation from No More Heroes where a character has a cool design and personality, but their boss fight is so infamous and rage-inducing, it sorta taints that cool factor.

I’m a big history guy, so the plan is to name any girls after famous historical queens and any boys after famous historical kings. Naming your kid after a video game character is… questionable most of the time, Malenia would be a good name though I think, most FromSoft names aren’t bad honestly.
12:18 Tip for anyone frustrated by Malenia’s Spin To Win: There is one semi reliable way to counter it. Something important is that if an enemy gets frostbite while winding up an attack, the frostbite will cancel their attack. Freezing Pots just so happen to cause just enough Frost Buildup to instantly give Malenia Frostbite, and Malenia’s Spin Attack has a Windup length that leaves her open long enough to finish a movie. You can probably see what I’m getting at. Whenever she’s leaping in the air, that is your cue to hit her with the equivalent of a concussive grenade; not only will this damage her if it connects, but it will allow you to get in some free hits *and* temporarily increase the damage Malenia takes by 20%. This trick turns Duck Dance from one of her most terrifying moves into target practice. There’s a catch though, there’s always a catch… Every time she gets frostbite, she’ll gain an increasing resistance to Frost. Which means that after 3-4 freezing pots, she’ll resist frost enough for the Freezing pot to not cause enough frost buildup to stun her. After that, you’re outta luck buddy.
Frost Dragonhreathe works too. She is also very weak to bleed so Swarm of Flies works okay, and Mohg’s Blood Trident destroys her. You can also use Bloodhound step to avoid it completely easily if you run away, to dodge with step, and then dodge in with the step.
The Ash of War: Barricade Shield on a 100% Physical Damage Reduction shield can withstand Waterfowl Dance as well. Malenia will still heal a little off it and you'll still take a little damage off the last hit, but you'll live. I think you'll still get Scarlet Rot buildup from Waterfowl Dance in Phase 2 though, so watch out for that...
The easiest thing that always works, without healing her, is to just learn to dodge the attacks normally. It's very easy to pull off, people just rely on varying strategies that will prevent this from being realized. Blocking will heal her even if you don't get damaged, parrying will heal her if you are summoning/summoned Online, she is guaranteed to dodge most ranged attacks unless she is already in animation, and stunlocking is poor form, but congratulations I guess to the people who decided they need to exploit or abuse some aspect of the game. Neither quickstep nor pre-nerfed Bloodweeb step is required, you can avoid all of it unless you are 'fat' or exceeding weight limits.

@@amog8202 That’s a myth. Humans are not, in fact, capable of the sustained jogs required in order to exhaust prey. That kind of marathon running does actual damage to the body, and requires a lot of recovery.

fun fact about Malenia: she can't dodge Invisible Sorcery like Night Comet, and her AI in phase 1 is coded to take the hit, side step, run toward you for a bit, then walk. as long as you wait for her run stop and walk she will only ever do Waterfowl once in phase 1 at 70%, if you hit her with a 2nd night comet right after she side steps she will ALWAYS waterfowl. phase 2 has more openings, fully charged night comet with 2 gemless staves and other relevant buffs and accessories can down each phase in 10 hits.
Take everything you saw about what Malenia can do... ...and then remember someone was enough of a masochist to learn how to fight her without taking a single hit.
Honestly there are actually no hit strategies now look up Baron's castle or Gino machino and the fact we went from "oh she's to strong" to "Okay do this and this and this and you win no problem" proves once again that no matter what given enough time and jobless game addicts you'll destroy anything

I learned after beating Malenia (so... so many tries...) that waterfowl dance can be interrupted by bombs. Hand grenades: the natural enemy of the duck.
Did you know you can jump over it?. The first, while running away, and last attacks can be jumped. You can't any other time cause you fall down slower than her next attack.
@@skinnywizard6351 you have to either run or roll AWAY of the first sequence, dodge to the front through the second and either instantly roll forward again for the last or simply walk forward (all of this locked on)
Fr the comments do not help, I've seen people name the song immediately before the Malenia bit, the part with the flaming flower thing, and the song immediately after that (the credits) but not the song from the fight itself. Edit: NVM! I found the song, it's the shadow of the erdtree trailer, synthwave arrangement.
He uses a lot of songs from gacha games which for some reason always have beautiful sound tracks I'm pretty sure he used songs from blue archives Genshin impact Honkai star rail and i think limbus company .
The first song at 1:32 was “Such a Blue Sky” Granblue Fantasy Two songs after were from the Xenoblade series I think the second is just from XB3 normal battle theme. Let me know if you are looking for any specific one.

I have to stop myself from pointing it out because I know I'd just be contributing to the meme (and arguably bad rep) of God Magically Summoning 110,820 Project Moon Fans. Given how often Max0r seems to use ProMoon music, I theorize he either is a fan, or otherwise just has good taste in music--which, frankly, I think the latter part is a given already. Then again, I'm pretty sure a lot of us are still used to ProMoon being really small, but the name's been expanding pretty rapidly lately from what I've seen, so we come off as rabid because we're still in the "hyper-niche community, monkey together strong" mindset.
I would consider it a slight loss to malenia,cus caelid got nuked and radahn is now a zombie but malenia sacrificed her dignity,put herself into a coma,let mogh(lester) kidnapp miquella,and had to get carried all the way back to the haligtree.

Having seen so much ER content in the last few years, I get a happy little jolt of "Hey, I noticed that!" when there's a mod on for a second or two of footage, because I KNOW that stone-faced watchdog cat don't spawn outside its room! I think this is great timing for the soon-to-launch DLC, and I always love these head-spinning journey videos! Really respect the editing choice to let the bosses take their slow, dramatic time, makes for great contrast and gravitas. And props to the Voice Actor, this seems to have been a fruitful collaboration!

Saw a video of a guy once No Hit Malenia while cosplaying as Gherman. Genuinely made her look easy, and wrecked by a guy with half a foot in the grave. It was hilarious.
I can't really blame him for dialling it back - he said in an interview that (if I remember right) it took a whole day of work to edit 5-10 seconds of the most insane early footage. That simply isn't sustainable in the long term. Plus, regarding the amount of references he was compressing into each second in the early videos, one person can only drop so many memes before they just run out of memes
Honestly, it's for the better. Both for his mental health and for the quality of the video. Putting 100 things into 10 seconds isnt actually funny or enjoyable. At best it was something so astounding that it garners recognition for the crackhead energy. The funniest parts of maxor's videos are his voice overs and banter and those need no crazy editing.
I'd agree, but simultaneously argue that this makes the video more understandable, allowing the viewers to see and understand the edits more; in my opinion, increasing the swag factor
If what Cotten said about this being your birthday is true, then that means we share a birthday! And since you gave me this amazing birthday present, I thought I would give you one too! (Even if it’s not much) In all seriousness, you should be incredibly proud of this video, while it may be shorter that your usual videos, the quality is what I come here for, and it is even more of an improvement than last time. Everything I love about your videos, editing style, music taste, and sense of humor is here and firing on all cylinders (Oracle Envoy slander is always appreciated). And finally, the Malenia section; it’s perfect. The editing, the jokes, the music, CottonTailVA as the voice of Malenia, the Montage at the end (the coolest montage you’ve done so far); all of it is phenomenal and you could not have done it better, you absolutely did it justice. Don’t listen to anybody who gives you crap about the length of the video or the fact that it only gets to the Haligtree (both of which were things you mentioned before the video came out). You always deliver the highest quality in every way possible and this is no exception. So, once again, thank you so much for giving us this amazing video, which you should feel extremely proud of!
