An Incredibly Sweet Story of Radha Krishna | Radha Krishna Leela | Swami Mukundananda 

Chandravali is the leader of the 'mugdha' Gopis. In the divine pastime of Shri Radha Krishna, she was the cousin sister of Shri Radha Rani. The 'mugdha' Gopis are infatuated with Shri Krishna and are grateful for any attention He bestows on them. Radha Rani is the Swamini (and the leader) of the 'manini' Gopis. The manini Gopis remain externally aloof and unfavourable towards Krishna while harbouring the highest selfless love for Him. That is why Shri Krishna always attempts to appease the manini Gopis when they do mana. The mugdha gopis make different plans to meet Shri Krishna in Vrindavan and have His 'darshan' to relieve their pangs of separation from Shri Krishna. For example, these Gopis go to Nandagaon to sell dahi/curd/yoghurt with the hope that they will get 'darshan' of Shri Krishna. In contrast to the mugdha gopis, the manini gopis never make any such plans on their own to meet Shri Krishna even if they have to bear infinite pain in separation from Shri Krishna. For these Gopis, Shri Krishna's desire is their own desire. And they know if Shri Krishna wants to meet them, He will do so whenever He wishes. Their divine bhav or sentiment is known as 'sakhi bhav'. These Gopis always wish to unite Shri Radha Krishna and to serve the Divine Couple to please Them. The 'mugdha' Gopis of Chandravali's group reach the level of 'rudha mahabhava', whereas the 'manini' Gopis reach the highest level of 'adhirudha mahabhava' (of Divine Love) because of their highest level of selfless devotion. We have to remember that all these Gopis are but eternally liberated souls (unlike us, eternally maya-bound souls), i.e., there was never a time when They were under the control of Maya. They always descend from the Divine Golok Dham of Shri Radha Krishna to assist the Divine Couple in their divine pastimes. The glories of these Braj Gopis is such that even Brahma, Shankar wish to attain the foot dust of these Gopis! Who then can describe the exalted Divine Love of such Braj Gopis?

Radhey Radhey, Mahabhava is the highest stage of Divine Love that can be attained by a soul (attained only after God-realization) who has developed selfless madhurya bhav for Shri Krishna, where a soul considers Shri Krishna as her Beloved (not as husband). The Mahabhava state is not even attained by Mahalakshmi, Rukmini and the queens of Dwarika. It is only attained by the Gopis of Braj because of their selfless devotion in madhurya bhav. However, it can only be attained when a soul surrenders to an eternally liberated Braj Gopi, i.e., when a soul accepts a Gopi-bhav Saint as his Guru and practice devotion according to his Guru's instructions. So there is an intermediary between Shri Krishna and the soul, no direct relationship with Shri Krishna. This selfless madhurya bhav has different levels of selflessness and accordingly, the intensity of love experienced by the Gopis vary based on their level of selflessness. The first level of selflessness is where the Gopi desires both darshan and touch of Shri Krishna, but only when that makes Shri Krishna happy. This group of Gopis attain the first level of Mahabhava, called 'Rudha Mahabhava'. Higher than this level of selflessness is what is seen in those Gopis who do not desire the touch of Shri Krishna. They are satiated by His darshan alone. The bhavs of these Gopis is called 'sakhi bhav'. For these Gopis, Radha Rani is their Swamini. They always wish to unite Radha Krishna and derive infinitely more pleasure from the union of Radha Krishna as compared to their own union with Shri Krishna. These sakhi bhav gopis get to experience the higher stage of Mahabhava, called 'Adhirudha Mahabhava'. In Adhirudha Mahabhava, there is simultaneous, incomparable happiness and suffering caused by union and separation. Adhirudha Mahabhava is of two types: modana and maadana. The modana bhav is experienced by the Sakhis of Radha Rani and Shri Krishna Himself. The zenith of Divine Love is maadana. It is only experienced by Shri Radha Rani. Even Shri Krishna doesn't attain this stage of Divine Love. This is reserved exclusively for Radha Rani. Even Brahma and Shankar cannot understand this 'maadana bhav'!

I had depression and nobody cud understand the cause , not even myself and this answer gave me the soultion and iam able get out of depression . Swamji iam striving to know abt radha bhaav and iam not able to get this knowledge even from chaitanya charitamrutham , iam very thirsty for this knowledge ...I don't know wheather you will see this comment !! In scriptures Krishna also answers the question who is radharani as follows : It's she who aims to give Krishna the highest bliss every moment And it's she to whom Krishna aims to give the highest bliss every moment By this we should understand the position of radha
