This was the season finale of Season 14. At the end of the episode, Briscoe is retiring, and on the way out of the office, he says "It's nice to go out on a win". His retirement was linked to Jerry Orbach succumbing to a decade-long battle with prostate cancer - he passed away in December 2004, the same year as the end of Season 14. He was a trooper and the consummate actor right until the end. RIP Jerry Orbach.

That's what made this episode so bittersweet was Lennie's retirement - behind the scenes Jerry Orbach was going to star in the spinoff L&O Trial by Jury which was supposed to be less taxing to film - an important consideration since he had been battling prostate cancer. They didn't disclose his illness until a few weeks before his passing; sadly, he was only able to tape the 1st two episodes of L&O Trial by Jury before his death. At the end of the second episode of that series, you could barely hear his voice. ;( RIP, Jerry!

@@aaronburgin1442 I still can't decide who I would want to suffer more out of the 2. Also screw that female judge admonishing Southerlyn . Southerlyn was right. Also Lennie was at his wise guy best when questioning that office lady who was sleeping with Adelle Burns husband. The other funny part was when Burns attorney said her client has many grounds for appeal and McCoy said I'm hard pressed to think of a single one .Your only hope is leniency at sentencing.

So...one more clip out of this episode until I wait for the channel to go backwards in the series, because I'm definitely not watching the Dennis Farina episodes

If you actually watched them, you'd realize there are soooo many good episodes during that 2 season stretch. Go watch "Red Ball" or "Invaders."

hmmm but as his sister he can buy you a million dollar apartment so you can chase a dream of being a artist who never has to worry about food bills or anything while never having to work a day and yes I know his wife married him for his money and then killed him just saying his sister is a lot like the women he married for he to say she hated the woman he brother married

So they rip off Alfred Hitchcock... And say " it's like something out of Alfred Hitchcock..."
@omargoodman2999
@omargoodman2999 3 года назад
Not exactly ripping off; paying homage. In the original Strangers on a Train movie, only one party followed through with the murder while the other was never taking it seriously in the first place and then had to deal with being hounded by the psychopath trying to pressure him into "completing his end of the bargain". So inspired by, not ripped off.

Do you guys know that in real life the blonde female lawyer has been stalked since her departure from the show by another big time actor or producer, whom she can't say publicly and that she can't get a gig anymore because of him. She used to date him i believe but it's bad.
