MrSkywalket153. Wow! I couldn't have said it better myself. You're absolutely right. I just commented on this video, and then found your post. It's all about corporate greed and brand image. As long as there are fakes out there the big designers cannot control who wears their logo. That means that "common rif raf" might actually be seen with a bag that has an LV or interconnected Cs, etc., and they wouldv'e paid a fraction of the price. They can't tell me the fake are that much poorer quality. From the looks of some of the falling apart left overs I've seen in resale shops, designer bags don't last that much longer than the fakes. The people they are really hurting are the poor immigrants who are trying to make a living selling this stuff. They get shut down and thrown in jail. Then these useless, out of touch, snobs cry about labor in third world countries. This is nothing but corporate greed, and snobbish elitism at its worst!

But you also need to think the marketing side that cost more than the production expenses, remember big brands usually hire well-known celebrities to promote their items and they have an expert PR 24/7 working to make the brand name bigger and bigger. If you study fashion business you will understand the in and out why a piece of a luxury item can cost so much, ideas can not be bought and trust me as a fashion designer student it can take months to research fabrics or leathers that can be used for mass production and etc. I am not trying to defend those luxury brands but they do have IP rights, the only thing I don't like from those big brands they use an animal skin which from my point of view it's so cruel and stupid.

OMG! Why would anyone pay all that money for a real designer purse? Oh yeah, that's right, because they're egotistical, narcisstic, materialistic, idiots who like to show off that they have more money than they know what to do with. People buy fakes because they say, "Yeah. Fashion is cool and all, but I'm not stupid enough to pay $500+++ for a d-mn purse." People laugh at women who pay all that money for real bags. Unless you're at or above a certain income level, everyone thinks your real stuff is fake anyway. You don't carry Louis Vuitton if you drive a Honda and work at the mall. Your all full of sh-t!

Many people who do shell out the money for an authentic designer good are doing so because they respect the heritage and craftsmanship that goes into making the good. Take the Hermès Birkin, a handbag that can start from $9,000 (Pre loved) and go all the way up to $180,000 (Himalayan Croc. Firkin) the bags are an exclusive piece of iconography, it stands for years of quality craftsmanship. The Birkin is stitched completely by hand so while it is a morbidly expensive handbag, and it's easy to laugh at the cost unless you have the respect for the luxury houses and brands, you really are getting a great handbag for your money. A handbag that will stand up through the test of time given that you take care of the bag and really treat it for what it is, an investment piece. I always think that its silly for people to knock the luxury community for spending their money on items such as handbags when the people who are doing the mocking don't really understand what goes into making one of those bags. (Thats not to say the luxury world is all rainbows and sunshine, some fashion houses are quite rough with how they farm the leathers and get them from the animals, its not pretty.) But the craftsmanship and love that goes into creating the bags and clothing really sets them apart from other companies and brands because what they end up creating is art that you live your life in, not some cheap $30 shake and go bag that looks like it was stapled together.
