I worked with Nicky Alder in 2001 “Behind Enemy Lines” - it was my first time directing a feature and he was so kind and patient and shared the passion like kids! Wonderful man.

Some time ago, I had the honor of conversing with Dennis Lowe, along with Jon Sorensen and the late Simon Deering, when they joined the online forum Alien Experience. They were absolute gentlemen and a joy to speak with. Dennis even generously sent me copies of his Alien Makers documentaries by mail years ago. It was a fantastic interview. Many thanks.

I could listen to the old practical effects guys all day long. Fantastic! BTW, I came across an old documentary the other day, and I can now see how 'In Camera' has been influenced by the work of the Skotak brothers.

As someone that works on some pretty terrible B movies more often than good ones, this was an absolute treat. Finally some good cinema and craft content on RU-vid! Thanks guys, please keep this up! I have always loved your in camera fx series even went out and got that hand held fogger that you guys showed off a couple videos back. I worked with the DP for the original TRON film but he also did some FX work on 2001 with Kubrick, and the first Star Wars film, Bruce Logan, I would love a chance to see him interviewed and someone better than I to peel back the history in that man!

16KB is a hell of a lot of assembly! And I think the majority of that massive amount of RAM stored the different key frame locations. Which depending on the number of steppers (degrees of freedom) can be quite a lot. And also since every stepper probably had at least 300 steps for a full rotation it would be 2 bytes per motor. And you could pack those so you have 1 MSB byte for 8 steppers. Yeah I still love assembly my channel has a lot of it 😂 It’s what I learned to code after BASIC.

Fantastic interview, golden age of FX! Anyone know where I can watch the 'Alien Makers' series you referred to at the beginning of the video. Looked for Dennis Lowe's website but looks like it's not longer available. Would love to watch this series.
