The DakotaNDT CX2 Ultrasonic Material Thickness Gauge has been designed to provide fast and accurate material thickness measurements of uncoated steel substrates - ideal for monitoring general component thickness, such as incoming and outgoing goods quality control, corrosion and erosion.
So, how do you measure the thickness of uncoated steel when you only have access to one side like a pipeline or storage tank for example?
Well, the DakotaNDT CX2 uses an ultrasonic pulse to determine the thickness of the material and provides instant and reliable steel thickness measurements from just one side of an uncoated steel substrate.
Taking a reading couldn’t be easier. By using a small amount of ultrasonic couplant, all you need to do is press the dual element transducer flat against the surface.
When the transducer is placed correctly on the material, the reading stability indicator shows how strong the ultrasonic signal is. A full bar means a reliable signal, ensuring accurate and repeatable measurements.
The DakotaNDT CX2 can measure uncoated steel of up to 500mm or 20 inches thick.
Pre-calibrated specifically for steel, the DakotaNDT CX2 is ready for use straight out of the box. Simply connect a 5Mhz quarter inch dual element transducer, using the red dot on both the gauge and the transducer as a guide, then apply a small amount of ultrasonic couplant to the calibration disk. Then, all you need d to do is press the dual element transducer flat against the surface.
