The cast and creative team of The Royal Ballet's Cinderella introduce Ashton's fairy-tale classic.
Royal Ballet Founder Choreographer Frederick Ashton’s Cinderella celebrates its 75th anniversary this Season. The ballet’s opening night in 1948, featuring Moira Shearer and Michael Somes in the lead roles, was received rapturously. After over a decade away from the Royal Opera House stage, Ashton’s timeless reworking of Charles Perrault’s famous rags-to-riches story returns, showcasing the choreographer’s deft musicality and the beauty of Prokofiev’s transcendent score. A creative team steeped in the magic of theatre, film, dance and opera brings new atmosphere to Cinderella’s ethereal world of fairy godmothers and pumpkin carriages, handsome princes and finding true love.

M. nunez and V. Muntagirov are a perfect pair, its always a great pleasure to see them dancing together.i remember the breathtaking Frantz and Swanilda in December 2019, just before the pandemic. I hope to see them together in Cinderella🎵🌻🌼🔥

Saw the performance last night. Was utterly magical. The sets are exceptional - words can’t do them justice but they completely transport the audience to a different world. The dancing and music was sublime.

Marinuela is correct about the world today. Classical ballet is a fantastic form of escapism and we are fortunate to see this with the artistry of Nela, Vadim and the whole company.

I saw Francesca and Alexander star as Cinderella and the Prince - this is a great and wonderful ballet, absolutely loved it

Ashton's Cinderella is the most fun to watch! It is beautiful and the story just flows.... Even people who don't think they like ballet, will walk away with a different opinion.

Cinderella was just magical! The choreography was amazing and the sets and the costumes deserve an award of their own. All I can say is that I love love loved it!!! Well done and bravo to everyone concerned.

I watched the version of Munich Staatsopernballett last year - what a marvellous ballet it is, lovely setting, great fun to watch. I wish I could see the ROH version, too!

The ballet is sooo dreamy and sophisticated. Can't say the same for the two principals. Although they are very very solid they are not really big on the glamorous and chic department. What a pity that today's Royal Ballet Dancers (and management!) don't care that much about aesthetics as in the 90s where people like Guillem, Bussell, Durante, Hatley, Bull were soooo beautiful and glamorous.

Interesting video. The only thing I'd disagree with is Marianela saying "Good things happen to good people". Not always otherwise how do you explain domestic abuse and other kinds of abuse? In fact in this world it's usually bad things that happen to good people.
