As human being and a Muslim, I was disappointed at how the Imam interrupted when the Christian brother was trying to explain his reasoning. The Imam was listening to respond when he should of listened to understand.

I don’t know man. Every time I see one of these debates there is nothing about the Muslim scholars that fulfills me or excites me. I’m a Christian , so I may be biased , but I swear , trying to be as objective as I can be , the Christian scholars throughout all the debates I’ve witnessed were well researched and backed up their arguments not only on passages from the Bible , but the Qu’ran as well , whereas the Muslim scholars just recycled the same cliche arguments about the many versions of the Bible and so on so forth. I was just expecting something more from the Muslim perspective. Something that could actually keep me engrossed into their sayings. It may be just me though , I don’t know. By the way , the Greek word for Lord is not pronounced as “Ku-ri-Osh” as Dr.White said , but as “ Ki( as the Ki in “Ki-wi”)- ri-OS”.
Holding beliefs and explaining them with another set of beliefs isn’t knowledgeable. It makes you a believer. Belief is to think something is true or to be under the impression that you “know” something to be true. Beliefs are what we call things that are unproven, yet people think they’re true. Knowledge is to know. We call things that are proven “knowledge”. You know them for a fact. Don’t get beliefs mixed up with knowledge.

Remember God is not the author of confusion. Also, human beings, including Jesus, are called ‘son of man’ specifically to distinguish them from God, who is not a ‘son of man’ according to the Bible.

Lovely discussion, great questions and great answers. My only issue is that Imam seems to try to win the debate by out-talking his opponent and doesn't listen for the answers. It's like as soon as James knows the answer, Imam moves onto a new question and doesn't let him finish. Apart from my frustration in this area, wonderful content was covered and I am very impressed :)

@@surreal2958 If the interruption of the Imam was to remind James to stay on topic, the Imam would be returning to the same question. This would have held James to account, forcing James to answer the questions properly. But alas, the Imam is the one asking many different questions and changing topics. I think the reason the Imam doesn't return to his original questions is because he felt was answered adequately by James. This is why the debate was distasteful to me, the Imam didn't want to actually debate the points, but rather to "out-talk" his opponent. I reckon the Imam felt threatened, and his instinctive defence was to constantly change topics in order to catch James out by latching onto maybe 1 thing that James doesn't answer well. It's a beggar's strategy really. Apart from that, I liked the respect between the two! But that was just my analysis of what was happening :)

What i find interesting about the discussion was that the muslim never listened to James. It was just questions that didn't relate to one another and when James answered them he either deflected or asked another unrelated question. Once you have faith in Jesus Christ the true vine, you can come to God. I truly believe that Christian's get an experience with the Lord. For me, once I came to Him I was healed of cancer 36 years ago and even today do I experience great healings and blessings from Him. The Holy Spirit grieves when I consider other religious beliefs or worldly things. Having the Holy Spirit is our experience that other religions do not have. Many get demon spirits and by those fruits we know them.

Is the Trinity logical? There are many Christians who try to prove that the trinity is logical. So, they give some analogies to show that the trinity resembles those analogies. In Christianity the trinity affirms that God is a unique being that exists as three distinct persons or hypostases: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. So, let's examine those analogies and see if the trinity applies to these analogies or not. 1X1X1 = 1 not 1 + 1 + 1 = 1 That sounds strange, how to multiply the Father by the son by the holy spirit? I see that without meaning. The analogy of the sun and the human Another analogy used by Christians is the nature of the sun that has a body, a light and a heat but it is not three suns but a single sun. However, this is against the concept of the trinity that says that God exists as three different people. Nobody says that the body of the sun or its light or its heat is an independent sun, but are attributes of the sun and there are many other attributes such as its gravity, its magnetic field, ... etc. It is the same with the analogy of the human who has a body, a mind and a spirit. There is no man without a body, but there is a man without a mind like a mad man, or without a spirit like a dead man. We do not say that the mind or the spirit is an independent man but they are attributes of the human like the power, the speech, the sight, the hearing, ... etc. Why choose some properties and leave others? An atom has protons, neutrons and electrons It is another analogy comparing the atom consisting of protons, neutrons and electrons, these are not three atoms but a single atom. However, it is not a precise analogy since the weight of an atom is the soma of the weights of protons, neutrons and electrons. That means they are parts and the trinity does not say that God is divided into parts. Water has three phases; vapor, liquid and solid This analogy is used to say that God exists in three forms. If we heat the ice, it would become a liquid, and if we heat the liquid, it would become a vapor but this is against the trinity that does not say that God is converted from one form to another form. This was an ancient heresy invented by Práxeas and was rejected by the Christians as we can see in this link (es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pr%C3%A1xeas) the answer of Tertullian. There is no benefit with these analogies All these analogies resemble one of those analogies above. So, let's conclude that the trinity does not say that each person is different having all the characters of God. Finally, a Christian can say that the trinity is a mystery and a secret of God and we can not understand it. That can be understood if there would be evidence that God tells us it is a trinity, but that did not happen. They have certainly disbelieved who say, "Allah is the third of three." And there is no god except one God. And if they do not desist from what they are saying, there will surely afflict the disbelievers among them a painful punishment. Quran-5:73
QUL HUWALLAHU AHAD God is one being. Within His being, He holds three properties. Will + Word+ Spirit. And these three make up One complete God. The Father is The Will of God in whom all things come from. The Son is the Word of God in whom all things come by. And The Holy Ghost is the Spirit of God in Who all things come through. This is the trinity of Yahweh God. Not Allah. Yahweh God is not Allah.
The word of God is "Be." Whenever God wants to create something He just says "Be" and it becomes. The Holy Spirit is not the Spirit of God. I think that's where Christians get confused. The Holy Spirit (Ruakh haKodesh/Ruh alQudus) is a created being. The Greek fathers misunderstood it. It is through the holy spirit the prophets received their revelations from God. Ask any Jew or Muslim.

I love how greatly respectible this debate was.. I wish Iman would have given White a little more room to make his point at times, we did interupt him multiple times and James took it like a "G"... but both guys were very articulate as well as approachable it would seem which is admirable!
Probably my biggest problem with religion is that God has left us humans with so much confusion. As another said why doesn't he clear up this confusion and send us an unedited complete and accurate new book containing the true word of God.

@@dillonallison5744 Joseph Smith and Muhammed claimed to have done this, although if you look at the research of Jay Smith and other scholars the Quran has also fallen off. The main problem though is that somehow we keep demanding that God clear up this and do that, as if we know God better than He does! Simplification of the message often dilutes the beauty and the strength in our faith. Wrestling with the idea of the trinity or of suffering, humbleness is part of a Godly life. Just like it was part of Jacob's, who encountered God in the flesh and wrestled with Him all night.

God cannot be born. God did not come into existence. He’s always existed; He did not come into existence from non-existence. He was not born, He was not created, and He’s always been even before there was even a thing called time. As we all know, Jesus Christ (peace be upon him) was born. He was in the womb for nine months and he was born. So, that by its very nature shows that he does not have the same qualities and characteristics that God has. God cannot be born and Jesus was born, so those two people cannot be one and the same. So God had no beginning. Jesus (peace be upon him) had a beginning. And the Bible says that no one has ever seen God at any time. This is very clear, John 1:18 it says, no man has seen God at any time. In 1 John, no man has seen God at any time; even Jesus’ own statement in John 5 and 37 -Jesus says: and the Father Himself which has sent me has borne witness of me and you have neither heard his voice or seen his face at any time and Jesus was standing right there amongst them and Jesus claimed that God’s knowledge was greater than his!!!

The problem with religious debates is each side often has no ability to be objective in reasoning to doubt their own position with a pre-conceived bias against the other sides views. This is what makes it very difficult to have any resolution to a religious debate. It's not like science where you can do an experiment, get a result based on data and evidence and present it to suggest a theory. How religion works is people believe what they want to believe through faith, not because one religion gives any more factual evidence of being true than the other. This is the logical fallacy of religious debates. No matter what point the other side presents depends on their faith and objective bias agaisnt the other. There's no ground for any factual evidence to make any valid decision on who's faith is the right one. Although I will say that the Islamic representative seems to make more logical valid points regarding why they beleive what they do. The thing he said about there being many different versions of the Bible, denominations and books taken out of the official Canon of the Bible has always made me question it's validity. I was raised Christian so I can only relate to what I've experienced and growing up going from different churches until my parents found the right one was very confusing and the inconsistencies was what made me doubt my faith in the first place.
I’m a Jewish hybrid . With that said, that Christian man is very knowledgeable and well prepared and you can see he truly understands God’s word . The Muslim man in my opinion is in denial and seems to refute the word of God and chooses what to follow . The one think I truly know is that God will judge each and everyone by their personally relationship with God and how they lived his word

If we don't stand for are faith, and understand the apologetics necessary to reach people then we will be a failure. There have been debates in history that could have changed things for the worse, but godly men stood up for the faith. That's why we dont believe arianism today. Because someone fought for the doctrine of the trinity during the Council of Nicea, and others fought for the other important doctrines as well when the church slipped. If someone doesn't stand for what is right we will become corrupted. I've witnessed on the street with Muslims. apologetics, and understanding gose a long way. But also if you don't understand your own stuff the conversation could switch, and you could be swayed to be a Muslim, because your not equipped. How can you reach people in a belief system, and culture you don't know? Even Paul used the people's beliefs of God's to his advantage, and also their poets writings.
I can totally appreciate your sentiment. However, debates are a way we can weigh the evidence and learn to strengthen the defense of our faith. Peter 3:15, “always be ready to give a defense of the faith that is in you.” Debates also plant seeds in those who both watch them and participate in them. I can lead to soul winning. IMO If the word of God is being discussed then the Kingdom is being propagated!

Today, you can see the smartest person on earth claimed that something to be true, eveyone believed him, but on the next day he was exposed he said that only because it benefit him. In exodus, the first generation saw all kind of miracles from god, and yet none of them had gotten into Canaan because of their lack of faith. And we all knows seeing something like the ocean split apart is more amazed for the people on that day than today.
