Davis Island wasn’t always an island. In the 1900s, a hurricane cut a path through a peninsula that juts out into Core Sound, separating a stately home at its tip from the mainland.
Years later, a man achieved his childhood dream of living in that home. What he found was peace and beauty, and a love story that came to him, in an isolated place, with an unexpected knock on his door.

As a direct descendant of the Davis family that owned the island in the pre-Civil War era, this really moved me. I was baptized in Core Sound and this island and Davis Ridge are special to my family. My Dad would take me and my brother to Davis, NC growing up. He’d reminisce on the times when his grandpa would take him fishing in the sound. Hopefully one day we can possess it again. Beautiful story.

Such a beautiful island & what an amazing story!! My husband and mine's story is equally as beautiful with a similar chance meeting & all! 💗 May God continue to bless you all on the rest of your journey & I will pray that you all find that special someone(s) who will love & cherish Davis Island as much as "y'all" do!!

I’m a Davis too! I’m a direct descendant of the Davis family who lived on this island and on the Ridge in the pre-Civil War era. My Dad would take my brother and I to Davis, NC down east growing up and show us the sights. Would love to connect regarding family history!

@@TheBrotherOfPeter that would be neat! My immediate family had no idea in regard to any of this history when I found out about this island I was in awe. We settled in Oklahoma. You’re very blessed to have kept roots, it’s kinda crazy there are a bunch of us running around completely oblivious of one another.

Would the State buy it and turn it into a State Park? I know Ohio has done that. I'm sure the buildings on the island could be renovated into small Inns complete with a restaurant!

Okay, here's me dream.... 😚 But first I think you guys should reconsider. You will really really miss this island, especially if it's been so long in your family. Is there fresh water to drink? If there's clean fresh water, you can have a milk cow, and grow watermelons, and other foods, and herbs and be happy. Milk is miracle food, nectar of immortality. Start an ice-cream place! All the money can't buy these opportunities, really, and what if you live in regret, and leave your body in an old age home? Anyways, good luck. God bless you & care for you, whatever happens.
