I am so so glad my box reached you and you are enjoying the yarn!! I can't wait to see what you make with it all. I love your Anna Winter Sweater. I might have to make one myself haha. Yours looks so lush with the lama content. Lovely podcast as always 💕
Hi Francesca, I told myself, I must write something here now. I've been watching your podcasts almost since the beginning. You are very nice, your knitting podcasts are inspiring and fun🙂 Greetings from the Czech Republic, sorry, because of covid🥸
Ti ringrazio 🫶🏼
I loveeee the 3 stripes on the sweater. It suits your body very well! The summer cardi is also gorgeous. Glad your covid was mild and you're feeling better as well! Thanks for another enjoyable episode, as always!
Lovely podcast! “The answer to everything is swatching or blocking” is spot on! 😂 I think you may actually enjoy cables if you knit a bigger garment. Also, unpopular opinion but I also don’t love KFO heavy merino! Keep us posted if blocking helps…😅
Ciao! I am new here, and I am Italian too, but I live in Australia…Italy is just family and holidays for us nowadays, but it’s great to meet such a lovely Italian knitter as you are. I did apply for Rebecca ‘a test knit too, but didn’t make it. I will knit it as soon as the patterns comes out, though! Your version is phenomenal 🤩🤩🤩 I have a podcast too, only a newborn one, and I am mostly a lover of bright colours, but you are welcome to come and visit me sometimes 🤭 I’ll stick around. A presto ❤
Thanks for your podcasts, you bring so much joy! You're totally right that the 3 stripes works well. Regarding tubular bind-off, I've found that using smaller needles for the final (or double-knitting) round(s) before sewing removes some of the bulkiness that can happen, especially with heavier yarn. Looking forward to the next videos!
Yes I love cables! BUT!! I do not use a cable needle… Andrea Mowry (I think) had a video on RU-vid about cable-ing without a cable needle and I use that method all the time. I’m knitting a Cider sweater by Tincanknits for my little niece whilst I’m watching your podcast! Cable needles are the worst. They slow you down and makes for fiddly sticks poking you 😂
No judging here on a creative way of using the yarn amount you have. You’re totally right that no one will see the inside of the collar and 3 stripes instead of 4 looks great. We’ll done!
The green in your Anna winter sweater is really beautiful - I love the stripes! Your modified cardigan is looking wonderful - the length looks perfect for a summer cardigan! 😊 the mini sweater is adorable! 🤩 I also don’t love cables. I’ve only ever knitted a cabled hat and I’m working on some cabled socks and it is challenging 😅 but i think they do look beautiful!
ahaha I love the heavy merino for probably all the reasons you dislike it! I love how study and 'hard' it feels without being at all scratchy. it does definitely soften up a bit with washing/wear though :)
Love your podcast, Francesca! Watched you this beautiful Sunday morning while knitting on my Coloring Book Raglan. I don't know if you wear boots very often, but with that 50 gram ball of yarn you could knit yourself some really cute boot toppers. Lots of patterns on Ravelry :)
Just found your video and I’m so glad I did. Also I knitted the Sophie shawl as well and did the same technique to keep track of my increases. I love this pattern. Love all your test knits. The modified cardigan I’m loving for spring/summer.
I love doing cables but it is much easier to learn on a larger piece of knitting. I use a short dpn in place of a cable needle. Hope you give it another try. Your projects are beautiful!
Hi Francesca, I just found you here on RU-vid and thoroughly enjoyed this video. Love the three stripes on the Anna sweater, and will definitely keep the trick of "harvesting" from the collar in mind if I ever need to play yarn chicken. Loving the color + yarn combo of your Sophie shawl as well. I was doing toe decreases on a sock while watching, thanks for keeping me company (:
Hello Francesca! I just wanted to let you know I am so super happy I ran into your podcast. It's absolutely my favourite one 🙂 Love what you knit and how you talk about it. It's really pure pleasure to watch. Thank you for sharing your passion with us! Cordiali saluti dalla Polonia 🙂
I like the Anna Winter sweater with the 3 stripes. The Corran cardigan modification you made is fantastic! I would leave it sleeveless for a summer cardigan. Just put a nice edge on it.
Ciao Francesca! I love cabling... but I would think that knitting a headband made of a single cable is actually on the fiddlier side. I am a tight knitter as well and it hasn't been much of a problem for me. My first attempt at cables was a baby blanket made of cabled squares. You could try your hand on a smaller project like a hot waterbottle cover maybe? Or even a larger headband (it helps to be alternating cables and "regular" stitches) I wish I could write all this in Italian (sto imparando l'italiano...) but my wooly vocabulary is very limited (per il momento...). By the way, your French pronunciation is very neat!
The answer is always Swatching or Blocking 😂. So true. Oh and I looooooove cabling. I cable without a cable needle. It requires a bit of bravery and a strong constitution not to panic when you pull your stitches off the needle to re-order them. But it’s far less fiddly than a cable needle.
@@AnItalianKnitter oh yes definitely a sticky wool and probably one held single would be easier. Don’t use a superwash or alpaca or you will hate me forever!! I personally find it easier to go without the needle up to an 8 st cable. I can comfortably hold 4 stitches off the needle.
Rebecca runs the best test knits! I’m testing her Tolsta Tee now and the testers are really bringing the creativity. Your Corran looks great! I can’t wait until it’s released.
Ciao Francesca- I am so happy to have found your podcast. I brought Covid back from Paris, last fall, so I understand the risk. Happily, my case was mild as well. I will be in Italy (Urbino) this summer, directing opera. I would love some tips on great yarn shops/mills that I might visit? Thank you in advance.
Hi, love your podcast, I’m currently working on Braids Of Grass by Ailbiona Mc Lochlainne, is a cable sweater but there are no purl stitches in the cables, I think it would really suit you. I chose to do 3x1 rib on the hem and cuffs too, look at the projects on Ravelry, I fell in love and had to make it!
Thoroughly enjoy your podcasts! Glad you are feeling better. I love your modifications to the Corran Cardigan. How many skeins of yarn have you used so far? Thanks!
You Corran looks lovely! The colour and length just scream for a. Sunny day on the beach. I can imagine 3/4 sleeves would look good - will have to check your Instagram in case you already finished it by now (;
I honestly think the three stripes look better than the four stripes! I am a fan of uneven numbers when it comes to these things so I really think the sweater turned out amazing! I will definitely make one with the similair stripe idea! 😍 Also, I am still trying to accept the fact that you hate my favourite yarn 😂😂 but my love for heavy merino will remain! 😅❤️
Haha I do love cabling! But it does take a while to get used to it, and if you're a tight knitter you definitely have to pay some extra attention to tension.
@@AnItalianKnitter I think your headband cable will be easy to do without a cable needle. Try looking at several different videos to see if there is one you like
Good morning. I am beginning the journey to learn Italian. Do you have Italian knitting podcasts you listen to. I keep searching RU-vid and all I find are how to do an Italian bind off..in English. 😂. Not exactly what I’m looking for. I love your videos and only found you a few weeks ago. ❤
Hi Francesca! 😍 Your corran (or corren ??) cardigan is gorgeous and I can totally see it with 3/4 sleeves (I’m super into 3/4 sleeves right now 😅) The method you use to mark the increases in your Sophie shawl is exactly the same method I used 😂 our minds are connected
I hate that KFO Heavy Merino. The hand is awful. Alas, IMO it doesn't soften much with blocking. I used it once to make pillow covers - something it's quite good for because it's sturdy - and I will never use it again.
Mine were too tight as well, at the beginning. I think practice helps a lot, but you could also try the two rounds of double knitting before the actual bind off. This is what I do: Double knitting rounds: Round 1: k1, sl1p wyif (repeat to end of round) Round 2: sl1p wyib, p1 (repeat to end of round) Followed by sewn bind-off: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-FNbanlVzbxw.html
