because of this video from drumeo i became a huge fan of Sleep Token. "II"`s work on the drums are insane. He`s the first drummer i have seen who play`s his kit like a piano. Great band, great lyrics and great music. Thank you ashlena for another enjoying Sleep Token reaction. I can see how you love them. Definitely check out the Drumeo video of The Summoning but even that won't prepare you for how amazing it is live. I just attended the Red Rocks show as my first ritual and it was absolutely incredible. The kick drum hits so hard you feel it in your soul.

Awesome, you almost wrapped up all but most ST songs i'm guessing, next i would recommend a band who are simply spectacular PORCUPINE TREE, their discography is pretty large, but you can start from anywhere, musical they are in an whole new level, give it a try and see for yourself,..

As a drummer, this takes years and years and years and years of practice, alot of people stare in awe at drummers but the ability to coordinate multiple limbs is something that takes alot of hard work and practice, his level of drumming is inspiring. Loved your reaction

I was recently watching Sleep Token's live show at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado and it was a great show but the person who recorded it hardly showed 2 at all, so I appreciate the focus being on him here. I recently started listening to another metal band from London called Confessions of a Traitor that's a metalcore band and they are really good too, I didn't even realize they were British until I heard the vocalist talk in a few songs.

Other drummers have touched on IIs style but never fleshed it out fully. II brings me to tears (as a drummer). The SPACE between beats is more vibrant, emotional, mysterious, foreboding, bombastic, emphatic, creative (I could go on) and II is a Master. Plus, you have to be in PERFECT control of your timekeeping to do this correctly. This is why you do not hear the majority of drummers do this. You play too early, the music is ruined, you play to late (in the spaces between beats), just stop playing. If you play without dynamics and passion, it all falls flat. Vessel II is my musical hero. May 27 2024 at Massey Hall is fast approaching and I have two small packs of Kleenex ready for all of the tears of euphoria and permanent appreciation. ST is burned into my DNA.

One of the other non obvious things I love about this interview is how he speaks. He’s so calm and every word he choses has intention. He lives and breathes drumming. I’m seeing them tomorrow night in Boston and I CANNOT WAIT.

I drove 4 and a half hours to see them in Pittsburgh and it was an amazing experience. Unlike any concert ive been too,which was only rock/metal and country. Vessel somehow sounds better live. Also, my wife, who didn't really know them besides 2 songs, is a fan now and said that she wouldn't of skipped any songs on their setlist, so a huge win for me lol.

"It's like he's orchestrating" Any good drummer is supposed to do that. I'll add "rhythm section" to that. The backbone of any good band is the rhythm section. You can have sexy melody and harmony. But with no backbone you are just a weirdo singing in your shower. We orchestrate while a pretty lady or man gets all the credit. Thank God for a band like sleep token where the lead singer is faceless. So people can stop looking and start listening.
