12:38 The witch in the OG series actually talks like that, but there's a dire reason for it. If she speaks too quickly, she can accidentally activate her spells and basically blow up everything around her. Her magic is so unstable and powerful that it can activate with simple speech.
@@a.mseymour180 The thing about the magic system in place in GS is intent doesn't matter, the reciting of the incantation does. It's a double edged sword. On one hand, it gives the user the ability to use a spell even if they're conflicted, thus making them easier to cast in volatile situations regardless of whether you actually wanna cast it or not. If you know you NEED to cast it, you're feelings on it won't matter and you can get the job done. On the other hand that's also the problem, even if you don't mean to cast the spell, it will still go off if the incantation is said. So you have to be very careful in what you say and how you word things. MOST incantations are created in ways in which its pretty hard to set them off in normal conversation however the witch is so strong that her incantations can probably be activated by mere common words/phrases hence why she talks slow and methodically to make sure she doesn't recite an incantation in normal speech. As the saying goes, with great power comes great responsibility.
28:30 "What?" Gate, it's a portal spell. The other end was at the bottom of the ocean. The water pressure cut the ogre to pieces. That's why there's water on the floor at the end.
Except Goblin Slayer who's more of the stoic, professional type, Priestess without the occasional sass she's got here and Guild Girl being not done with her job, the rest is pretty much the same.
@@theduckgoesmoo They do hate each other and try to screw each other over when they can. But they also get salty when someone else kills their brothers. Goblin slayer has a SOLID reason to hate them wich will be revealed later.
As a DM....can confirm. So far my party has adopted a baby griffon, started a class rebellion against the nobility of the first city they entered and managed to kill an abyssal horror for some Ants (long story), and that's only a fraction of the big stuff they've done since the beginning
Okay, so what Goblin Slayer did with that magic squirrel was link it to the bottom of the ocean so that the miles of pressurized water would come pouring out like a knife. One of his best features is his creativity when it comes to murdering goblins.
So to answer your question to why he hates goblins. They … kinda explain it in this but basically he watched his sister be raped and killed in front of him as a kid so he kills all goblins for doing that. Also killing his entire village but he really only cared about his sister
@@theduckgoesmoo Yep. Goblins in this setting are nasty little monsters that pretty much exist solely to destroy and cause pain as the entire basis of their culture and which have a constant need to capture women for forceful and traumatic breeding purposes because there are no female goblins. They tend to really enjoy doing it too, and really even goblins don't like other goblins beyond maybe thinking the guy next to them might be a good meat shield.
@@joshuaseagondollar2495 Yep, Duergar are like the Dark Elf version of Dwarves. They live in the Underdark, have no imagination and craft things solely for their practical use. They're also psychic, or in DnD terms "psionic"
the scroll was a powerful teleportation ability. it can teleport you anywhere or forcefully summon almost any thing in existence to your location. He used it to teleport water from the bottom of the ocean to where he was so what you saw was water being unleashed with millions-billions-trillions of LBS of pressure all aimed at the ogre. Also in the show Goblin slayer didnt actually know what the ogre was because he actually doesnt do anything but fight goblins and when he defeated the ogre he said something along the lines of "idk what you are but goblins are more troublesome than you."
I actually did the calculation for this play by him a while back, and assuming that the bottom of the sea in their world is about the same depth as ours, then the water that exited that gate was about equivalent to 15,750 psi. It only takes HALF that to cut through bone, so the depiction of what happened is pretty accurate, but if he kept that gate open for a few seconds longer he would have flooded the dungeon with sea water.
- Apparently mage chick talks like that so she doesn't accidentally cast a spell - While not an official episode I do recommend a Grimmjack video "Goblin Slayer is a HAREM SHOW!?". It does involve the Abridged characters and is kinda an Abridged version of the manga - Here in the UK the show is an 18 rating
23:45 This is some D&D stuff. The Dwarf cast Deep Slumber to put the goblins to sleep. Priestess cast Silence so that they could kill them all without waking any of them.
The goblin slayer anime is golden it’s 2nd season will come out soon and has a movie, it’s top-tier anime and the Abridge is a 360 of the anime too, so it’s very different
@@theduckgoesmoobut it does have its lighthearted and funny moments. It also has multiple direct references to D&D, and some other references to the works of Tolkien.
Silver rank is the 4th highest rank, however, 2 of those ranks are secret ranks that can only be obtained by the strongest in the world, so silver is the 2nd highest rank you can get for a normal adventurer.
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure the joke at the end is that both of the Lyft elves are voiced by people from Team Four Star, a well-known abridging group.
Feels kinda weird watching the goblin slayer with that personality. Except for the hatred for goblins everything else about him is the complete opposite of the original. Although that's probably on me, I'm not used to abridged stuff. Even if u don't watch the original I recommend just listetning to the original opening in your own time, it's magnificent.
11:13 "Why do you talk like that? i hate it" That was my thoughts when i watched Golbin Slayer dubbed (personal preference when it comes to GS), it was clear that (in the dub) the VA were going for a: mysterious, seductive voice, and it just ended up sounding condescending (at least that's how i felt).
It's a carryover from the source material light novel and manga and an actual character quirk of the Witch to speak like that, ostensibly to avoid any accidental spells.
@@williamharmon4039 That's interesting. I doubt it's something many authors think about when making a world/setting with spells that are activated by speach.
The Lizard Shaman is my favorite build in the Goblin Slayer Universe. I'd totally have my main be a Lizard Necromancer, but I'd have a few Rhea Thieves/Scouts for solo stealth missions. So when does the Goblin Slayer MMORPG come out? 2050?
When it comes time to vote on the next anime, my vote definitely going to Goblin slayer, see you react to that after the abridged is hilarious. I am also to see you show Kirby Hellsing Ultimate abridged.
@@theduckgoesmoo That may be someone's goal, but not mine. I genuinely love Goblin Slayer and think it is one of the best anime of the last decade. it has a great stories, great action, and really great visuals especially in later episodes. You will not regret it so long as you watch past episode one, which is mostly the shock episode. I was actually reading the Goblin Slayer Manga long before anyone thought there would be an anime of it.
@@theduckgoesmoo episode 1 is pretty bad but it’s like they try to hit you with a huge shock episode then the rest is basically “here’s what real world dnd would be like. Yeah … there’s real consequences to real life”
There's backstory in the actual show as to why he hates goblins. I haven't watched the abridged so I don't know when or if they include that. Let's just say he's seen some shit as a young man.
A year late to this party, but I think the whole joke about the wagoners wanting to keep and maintain a 5-star rating might be a jab at Ride sharing services such as Lyft and Uber...I've Personally not used either, but understand driver ratings are important.
Goblin Slayer is a great, short series. It got a bit of a reputation from people not knowing what kind of story it was going to be. A little edgy, but worth a watch. I could go for either this series or Beastars as a full reaction. Both are easy to get and can be done pretty quickly.
So I'll just say this they never know his name but only by his nickname of Goblin Slayer but in different parts of their world he goes by different names and the thing is I love this anime a lot I wish I could be apart of it
Silver rank means there are only two ranks that are better than him, gold and platinum. Only one person usually has platinum rank and that’s the “hero” He’s essentially a bad ass. And one of the highest ranking adventurers. Not sure if someone else told you, wouldn’t be surprised if they did, but I’m too lazy to scroll down
Basically Goblin Slayer hates goblins because he had an experience VERY similar to what Priestess went through when he was just a little kid only HE wasn't an adventure at the time.
The intro is copyrighted music and you should probably skip it in the future, but its also an amazing song called A New Saga Begins by Rhapsody Of Fire which you should definitely give a listen to in your free time.
Yo holy shit what?! People actually want to see your reaction to SUPER NOPE content, on RU-vid? There is NO way Goblin Slayer can ever be watched on RU-vid save for abridged series like this. Itll be a cold day in Hell when that happens.
I am more excited for the Abridged than the actual Anime. As awesomely badass as Goblin Slayer is in the Japanese Dub... The Abridged has ALL the laughs. Luckily though if you do decide to react to the Anime episode 1 is really the only insane one and the shock of seeing the 'main characters' fail is done... you could also skip episode 1... but I think people will enjoy you watching the Abridged more.
Goblin slayer is kind of about as based as SAO in its source material. It has no base. Its not a whole lot more than shock value when the sex thing happens. Compare this to something like Redo of Healer that knows what its doing but doesn't try hiding or dancing around it with some attempt at a deep subtext. It knows its one off frame away from being a hentai and just goes with it. GS and SAO though. Yeah the "scenes" in those are basically just attempts to recreate the finale of the Berserk Golden Age arc whenever possible but without the buildup to make you know people that are going to die horribly and the graphic scenes of....ahem...portrayed rape feel more fanservicy and cartoony in the forementioned series whereas Berserk just makes it fucking vile and real as the rest of the series. Lesson from Miura. If you want horrific shock value. Do it right. Don't try selling your horrific scene. Just scar people with it.
Maybe a little late, but I’m gonna vote no on reacting to the original Goblin Slayer. I just don’t think the show would be good for reactions. It’s not really funny, it’s just sad and uncomfortable, especially the first episode. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the show, just don’t think it’d be good for RU-vid.
