Thanks for showing just how easy system.d really is !!!! If they don't like system d oh well 😂 I think system d is very straightforward easy to use I remember years ago trying to remember all the extra things to remember, and glad that system.d came about. Having an easy way to list everything without reading and searching for something is a god send especially when you're in the middle of a problem.

Great video! I don't mind Systemd, in some ways it functions like init.d. Creating the unit files are usually pretty easy. Though some are not easy as the old way of doing things. One example is mounting remote shares. In fstab you have one line per mount. In the Systemd unit file you have around 6 lines. Though one nice thing about Systemd mount is you mount and unmount shares independently. Another is for WPA_supplicant automation.

Best explanation to understand systemd. We are waiting in the future for a tutorial on how to clean or optimize systemd.

Yeah, Systemd is here whether people like it or not. Unfortunately or fortunately I'm not knowledgeable enough to have an opinion either way, all I know is that installing and administering Linux is much easier than when I ran Red Hat Linux in 2001.

Nicely done!. Perhaps you could do a deep dive on systemd later - it has a lot of moving parts, and some of the hostility towards it comes from that complexity, and rather steep learning curve. I'd be willing to sit thru an hour long lecture or even a series of lectures.

As usual it is a pleasure to watch the recordings you make! if there were no systemd, of runit, openrc, s6, which would be your favorite? and if there were no archlinux, what distribution would you use considering both linux and bsd worlds? at the moment I use archlinux, but for about 3 months, since I saw the recording that you did with FreeBSD, I began to like more and more BSD's.

Hey, I miss doing videos as well. I was actually planing to do one before the end of 2022 but I got sick and now start getting better. I hope I can finally manage one in the coming weeks ✌🏻

@@eflinux Hey, you're alive (and I hope well)!! Hope you're feeling better, brother. Hope your new work is going well and fulfilling your professional desires. And oh yeah...just "standing by" for another one of your (hopefully Arch) videos. Take care. 😀

Dear sir could you also investigate this thing? I can't find but I had an update that was for apparmor, I never installed it however when I looked in var and other said locations it is part of core. ( Base) . I've seen nothing announced on Arch website.

Useful would be a simple cron job to reset the wallpaper every 2 mins. I did this a bit ago - but have forgotten - and now just use a bash script to do this. But I would love to refresh how to do it with cron. This probably has little to do with systemd but when watching the video I remembered it.
