Love the idea that it was Leda who stole Mohgs body for Miquella. She just happens to show up by chance the moment you kill Mohg, and then is like "oh, you go ahead, I got stuff to do first", and waits till you're gone before she starts body-snatching
Whoever left the comment calling them fellowship of the twink is genius and i was trying to pin it but im on mobile and it accidentally clicked remove so if you could, please comment it again so i can pin it, because it was hilarious
I dunno, i don't think that Leda is all that bloodthirsty by ER standards. That she starts to think who might become a traitor to Miquella once the charm is broken is warranted, the stakes are high and either Miquella succeeds or he fails, there's no possible in-between, given the situation. It's also her mission as a Needle Knight "to quell all, to ward away all", and Dane, who has been a follower of Miquella for longer than her still trusts her after the culling of the Needle Knights. She also outright states that she doesn't like to cast suspicion on a comrade (even if she ultimately rationalizes that as for the greater good) if you help her kill the Hornsent, and it's clear it took a toll on her. As she herself says, man is a compassionate animal, for better or worse
She's a religious zealot. When Miquella is attacked, he wins the heart of his attacker. Leda hunts down perceived threats and kills them. It's like Jesus vs his followers. Very fitting, considering she was an oathseeker - someone looking for a religion/god/guru/king to pledge loyalty to (and get easy answers to life from) Also, doesn't she call man "beings of conquest", not "compassion"
@@agxryt She's ultimately no less zealous than any other lordsworn knight/soldier. Of course she believes she's doing the right thing, who doesn't? I'm also fairly unconvinced that wanting to find someone/something deserving of perfect, unwavering loyalty... can be squared with wanting easy answers? If anything, it implies one hell of a Rubicon to cross Yes, she also says that. I'm specifically referring to what she says if you help Hornsent (NPC) in the invasion
Lol, it's funny watching this video after watching Scum Mage Infa's video about how Miquella is clearly the hero of the story and the only one truly doing the right thing. He has an extensive argument but one point I thought was funny was how Ansbach even asks the tarnished if we're crazy for helping him.
i think it would’ve been more fitting if somehow we found evidence of miquella being affected by the frenzied flame in the abyssal woods. maybe the lore one day…
The four arms thing seems to be a byproduct of disengagement with another self (like with Ranni, and Godwyn's growths, and probably Marika too around the time she disengaged from Radagon). We only know of one person who successfully maimed Miquella: Sir Ansbach. So he severed the 4th arm perhaps. But this might cause issues on the timeline; it would mean Ansbach attacked/injured Miquella after he discarded St Trina, which would mean it happened very recently.
I unironically like the Ancient Dragon-Man's name. There are other invading NPCs whose names we don't get (Ravenmount Assassin, Nameless White Masks, Bell Bearing Hunter (though, we get his name later on)), so there's a precedent for it. I just like the idea that this guy is such an ascetic who divested himself of his old life to devote everything to communion. He IS the Ancient Dragon-Man now. Probably doesn't remember his human name anymore. He is completely immersed into his role as the arbiter of the Dragon Pit.
6:28 I think he enchanted them all at different times. When he enchanted Ansbach it was because Ansbach was presumably doing well in their duel. That may have been an “Oh shit this guy is powerful, he might beat me” or it (more likely) could have been a “This guy is good, he’ll be a good ally.”
Great video dude, want to point out one little thing on Count Ymir's head piece. His Priest Headress covers his ears, and after we sound the Finger Horn the first time, he states he could hear us sounding it and our fate is brighter. It seems lile there is a theme with the Greater Will and frequencies, I presume his headress covers his ears to help him discern these tonal frequencies. The Metyr fight also contains all these weird frequencey sounds in the 2nd phase as well.
Ya bayle killed me so many times then I used that sword. I killed him so fast he couldn’t even fly off for his second phase. Haha igon was still yelling
It’s possible that those who stray from the Dragon Communion and its teachings will be cursed by Bayle’s blood, becoming the very thing they swore to annihilate from lands-between .🤔🐱
My ansbach ridnt betray me at all. We fought radahn together and his last words were "Righteous Tarnished. Become our new lord. A lord not for gods, but for men"
Ansbach makes you wonder if Mohg was actually a decent dood before the enchantment, like how can someone that chill be with an evil lord? If thats true then Godfrey's boys score 3 for 3 in the good boy list! 😂
I remember the thread on someone's lore video where you talked about wanting to start making videos of your own. I'm glad it's gone so well for you and you've almost hit 30K subs! You deserve it!
You didnt mention the feral man in the woods. Its a Wolverine reference. Actually Igon its a reference to captain Ahab with his anger demeanor and obsesion with the Dragon the whole quest its literally the Moby Dick novel 😊
I know this is all fun and lore but your characterization of Hornsent I think is what a lot of people miss in this game, and it's an important note on empathy. All the characters are very flawed and they come from a variety of backgrounds who are damn near staring down the apocalypse. Every evil committed is part of a cycle of sacrifice and violence that seems to go back farther than anything else. Death itself is handled with purpose and care and deep tradition, the Shadow Realm itself is something of a drainage for death, and seems to be a third or fourth reason that Marika veiled it. I think the ways we justify violence in the real world are often ways that we justify anything else, that's the scariest part of statecraft, in that it's hopeless to predict or prevent large scale tensions that erupt beyond logical recourse. Also Moore is a pest. Think how he talks and think about Gowry. Think about why they are the only two characters in the game who care about or even mention the pests.
Alright you need to call a cat a cat l Leda is the fanatic archetype groomed into and completely consentent she would never waver due to something like morality and follow her keen psycho murderer instinct I love her I wish she had more voiceline aaaaa
You're probably right but at the same time the little things like that are just self indulgent things i love to put in my videos, i love it when people get and appreciated the references but i dont mind when they arent noticed. Its usually stuff i thought of on the spot, but i will say i was particularly proud of that jagged peaks bit
@@TheHonoredMadman As you should, I'm one of those weirdos who loved Twin Peaks as a matter of fact. And I still can't believe it was Leda who killed Laura Palmer.
The oathseeker knights seem to relatable. Wouldn't life be easier, id we had someone trustworthy and noble to follow? Certainly was, back when we were ignorant enough to blindly follow religion, kings and gurus But Leda, of course, IS a zealot - who does harm her cause. Miquella wins the hearts of those who attack him - she kills them. Much like irl teligions and zealots, actually. This game is rich with social critique
Well since you have mentioned Norse mythology, I'd like to add that Leda is also a character from Ancient Greek Myths, known for being fucked by Zeus in a swan form
Idk where else to put this… I always thought that mough had a really poorly casted voice actor. Like he is a demon looking guy but sounds like a theatre kid trying to do a death metal voice.. Now with the dlc perhaps I’m giving them credit that isn’t really earned, but maybe there is a reason why he has the weird “young adolescent” voice. He is like doing “Miquella possessed” voice kinda like a reverse of the cliche “ I’m possessed by a Demon now” voice. Idk again definitely probably not intended. But I always thought that he sounded different when he first spawns from the blood, but by the time he turns to address you, he has the weird lil kid voice.
I mean he clearly shows love for miquella making his voice softer for him then he turns on the scary voice as he turns to us. Def think he sounds great idk bout a theater kid tryna do metal 😭 what r ur thoughts on Horah Loux’s lines going into phase 2? I think those r prolly the worst ones tryna sound tuff but not really working. “ I’m Horah Loux, WARRIOR! “ - this one specifically. He was already a giga chad didn’t need him to do that weird thing wit his hands and shout warrior. lol anywayyyyyy
@@austinmc12 I’ll have to listen to him again, honestly I was hype for mough so when I heard him I was taken aback. At first I thought it was the same voice actor who did Prince Lothric from DS3. I have to agree that one of the biggest holes in the game is unfortunately some of the voice casting, and honestly the dialogue sometimes is off. I’ll have characters say, “ I prithee,” and “Hear me out” in like the same phrase.. I noticed it and it bothered me a bit. Over still love the game I just had to make note of those few cases.
@@Mr.WarwickBot idk if I’d say one of the biggest holes in the game but I hear you on that. I like that they go in the old timey speaking route of thy thou an shit but it’s a lil extra sometimes. Especially when they talk about basically nothing.
@@austinmc12maybe exaggerated, but honestly is a good game. Just takes me out of the experience when I hear the old English but then basically “Yeet” in the next sentence lol. And honestly I do love the old English, I just wish it was more consistent. I really would rather you not do the old English colloquialisms if you can’t keep the writing consistent with the accent. Like I can’t quite remember the specific interaction, I think it’s part of Selena’s quest line.
@@austinmc12 also I just remembered but Moughs voice reminds me of the episode of Billy and Mandy.. where his Dino toys come to life… and like the triceratops bad guy has like a forced gravely voice. Towards the end he admits he always wanted to be a “Go-Go Dancer”. That’s what moughs voice actor sounds like but even less convincing..
Needle knights are just a Bloodhound knights copy. A bit disappointing. Anyhow I think we are putting a bit too much importance on Ansbach because we like him. Re: Fingers "Maybe something went tits up with it. Maybe... it's been broke for a good long time."
Love your voice and presentation. So many people have the loremaster british dude voice, i imagine you telling me all this while your packing a bowl in a pipe with some purple sticky
As a player that mains an arcane/faith, a sanguine noble mage based on Mohgwyn Dynasty, imagine my disappointment that not only did we only get one bloodflame spell, but that it also wasn't very good. At least we got a decent briar sorcery :(
26:45 certain cultures (West coast native americans) consider tarnished copper/brass sacred. A divine sign of transformation. Going from copper-red close to blood. To green like plantlife. / Crucible much? The inexorable march of time...
I am a blatant Hornsent Apologist like he is probs top 3 most tragic NPCs in the entire DLC to me ngl. He embodies the concept of how inherited cultural trauma can absolutely tear you apart mentally and physically.
Part if me is ok with radahn never speaking I think he's one of the coolest characters & if he did talk it wouldve had to be the hardest lines in the entire game
Out of curiosity if your still responding and hearting comments, do you think any Demigod in game is like "good"? All seem to have some massive baggage, with the cleanest in terms of record being Morgott, who still murdered Tarnished and kept Omen imprisoned. I think it's a more interesting question given Mohg's half-exoneration by Ansbach due to the charm, although I think nixing kid-diddler from the record still leaves murder cultist unchallenged. Godwyn we know next to nothing of in terms of personality as well, although he was certainly still a part of Golden Order domination plans and likley had a hand in multiple killings, wars, and genocides simply not mentioned. So, there's not really like, a Demigod in game I think is like "Yeah, they deserve the title of Elden Lord/God." What do you think about it?
No it's much like real life in that, for the most part, no one is completely good or evil we are all flawed and imperfect beings making the best decisions we can based on the information we have
2:04 "An unalloyed light that has never dwelled in an eye" ....what the _heck_ does this even mean though? Like, every word of this sentence just creates new questions. What's an unalloyed _light_ supposed to mean? Does this suggest runes _normally_ dwell in eyes? How has _this_ rune _never_ dwelled in an eye while simultaneously representing the "gentle gold" Miquella gifted to "soften the hue" of her faded eyes? Or is that last line supposed to have nothing to do with the rune itself, despite the rune appearing like an iris (as all large runes do) _with a soft gold symbol of the haligtree marked upon it_ 🤔
Yeah theres been an increased focus on eyes in the dlc. What with the irises of occultation and light, as well as messmers own eye being either a scarseal or a soreseal of marika. And then the the thing with leda. I had assumed the faded hue was due to her being tarnished as ive noticed several tarnished as well as other npcs that have these golden eyes. So i figured leda eyes were a faded gold color either due to her being a tarnished that lost their grace or just someone who had lost their way in life. Either way im over here rambling, i should make a video about the importance of eyes, especially with the effect the frenzied flame has on them
I think you got it mixed up with Leda, her being violent is not the consequence of Miquella’s power, it is the consequence of the lack of his influence that made Leda violent again, Miquella is the best thing Lands Between Can ask for unfortunately we have no choice to align with him.
Unfortunately, in My playthrough of the DLC, I messed up Moore's quest when I, thinking I'd gotten the drop on what _appeared_ to be a sleeping pest, killed it, only to find out that it was one of those "Forager Brood" guys he was just telling me about. Prompting Moore to show up right after that and start a fight with me for killing it. Which forced _Me_ to have to kill Him. It was just...that shit was just a whole mess. 🤦🏾♀️ I mean, come on....How the hell was I supposed to know that the enemy who's done nothing but try to kill me, each and every single time I see one, was gonna suddenly be friendly this time?!?! 🤷🏾♀️
I didnt even know that youbwere supposed to fight Moore in the Leda free for all. I bought all of his stuff early and didn't talk to him again until after the Radahn fight, and he 5 still there. Did I have a glitch?
Every fromsoft dlc in the past has had some kind of character that seems out of place and eludes to their next game like Chester in ds1 for example and there's other too but I'm not really seeing how any of these characters are outstanding in the word but the grass in the dlc look like bloodborne grass so it has to mean bloodborne 2 is next
My running theory is that Serosh was the lord of the Hornsent and was seduced by Marika. Then grafted Serosh & Hoara Loux into Godfrey. This would in turn lead to Morgott & Mohg being horned. It also explains whom/what Marika seduced Additionally this would add up because the only divine lion we ever hear of is Serosh. All the others are imitating a lion via; Lion dancers, Lion warriors, Radahn, Redmanes, and Godrick’s axe.
I'm not sure Leda is "what the extreme side of an age of compassion might look like". She too gets charmed *because* she needs to chill. Same with "who would have thought that forced affection might have bad side effects". The side effects you are talking about are stemming from her having free will in the first place. This is not Miquella's doing. Miquella had multiple needle knights, and Leda killed them all out of paranoia and an excess of loyalty, and that's why she got charmed along with the others. How's that not a net positive for everyone?
