hello; so first of all, i wanted to express my appreciation for all the support on this video! it's wild to see how much it's blown up in less than a year, especially considering i posted it to 0 subscribers. it's also super jarring to see people say this was their introduction to babymetal, or at least it helped them right after they found bm by other means; i am overwhelmed and appreciative of the support, truly. this video was my first time really editing so it was difficult to do lol (making a 40 minute guide was probably not the best choice for a first video so i brought that on myself), but i'm glad to be able to help new fans (and old) learn more about this group :) the main point of this comment, however, is because i get a lot of comments on songs and while i had always meant to list everything, i just got lazy; so i've finally gone through and gotten timestamps for all of the songs that play in the video: 6:40 karate 6:41 headbanger 6:43 akatsuki 6:45 megitsune 6:46 akatsuki 8:05 shine 8:11 karate 8:14 karate 8:24 shine 8:30 the one 8:48 megitsune 9:03 rondo of nightmare 9:09 ijime dame zettai 9:15 megitsune 9:20 in the name of 9:36 all the crucifixions are to babymetal death 12:16 catch me if you can 12:18 headbanger 12:22 catch me if you can 12:24 uki uki midnight 12:42 headbanger remix 12:46 yava 13:56 headbanger 13:58 babymetal death 14:00 song 4 14:05 headbanger 14:08 distortion 14:41 headbanger 16:37 gimme chocolate 16:38 gimme chocolate 16:42 pa pa ya 16:43 gimme chocolate 16:45 road of resistance 16:47 gimme chocolate 17:10 sis anger 17:49 gj 23:49 headbanger 24:19 meta taro 25:58 megitsune 31:20 arkadia 35:10 kagerou 35:13 starlight 35:17 kagerou 37:50 road of resistance thanks again for watching and all that; have a good day~
Right? I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around the idea that she's shorter than me (by one inch, but still). Her stage presence (and the costumes/wardrobe) really make her seem bigger!
@@schwammi Hey, welcome to the shorty club! Maybe it's just because of where I live (Hawaii, born and raised), but I hardly realize that I'm considered "short" because I'm surrounded by so many people my height (I said I'm 5'2, but to be accurate I'm 5'1" and 3/4) and shorter. When I'm out and about here I feel pretty average... I don't know where you're at, but the only time I was constantly reminded of how short I am was when I lived in Portland, OR for 8yrs... a lot of folks marveled about how short I was "for a white girl" (WTF!) and those _lovely_ comments got old *really fast* Eventually I'd respond with, "Yup, I'm well aware, thanks... and by the way dude, you need to blow your nose." ;) It becomes so much easier to derail uninvited conversations about our bodies if we find a way to make the other person self-conscious (and without body shaming them, of course).
@@MsFuzzipoo aww what a lovely comment thank you. I'm pretty much exactly 5ft tall and I'm from Germany and people are on average around 5'6" to 6ft and the smallest you'll usually find people being is 5'4" so I am remarkably tiny compared to almost everybody I know. It used to bother me alot but I actually made it my strength, I am really content with my height even tho my friends still always tease me 😭
@@schwammi Oof, that sounds rough. I'm glad to hear you're comfortable with yourself though, that's so incredibly important!!! Those friends... ugh. Been there, and I'm sorry. I hope ya have some good comebacks. If anything, work it to your favor, and get them to help you out when you need it... For example: living in Portland was a fantastic time for me musically because I got to see _so many_ live shows. It was glorious. NOBODY plays in Hawaii (I understand it, lugging the most basic gear onto a plane to the most physically isolated place on the globe isn't easy...) *However* getting a decent view at concerts was always difficult, being so much shorter than others in that town. Bring those teasing tall friends with you to events, and when you get there say "You know how you're always reminding me how short I am, well..." and get them to put them on their shoulders. I might sound like I'm joking, but I've done it myself! Or when they tease ya: "I know, it makes things so hard. By the way, I could really use your help with (various household task that's much easier for tall people), would you mind helping me this weekend?" *Of course* you don't need to do these things, but I'm just saying, when I had "friends" who wouldn't let up, even after I'd asked them directly, I'd literally single them out to help me with their height. Once they realized what I was doing, a lot of them cut it out... and those who didn't, well, they helped me quite a bit ;). I was already comfortable with my height, and eventually I also became comfortable using it to my advantage with others, _especially_ those who seemed to think I'd somehow forget if they didn't continuously remind me about it 🙃! I'm really happy to hear you've made it your strength, though! That's awesome ❤️❤️❤️
Tbh I was kind of sick of them Just one week after I discovered them (>2 months ago) because I listened to like 90% if their songs on repeat on Spotify the entire goddamn time but it's better now, I enjoy their music again.
@@HelloKitty60621 no. She does choreography better as well as her lag. What I mean is she stays on beat unlike Moametal. (Moametal just gets excited.) Even says it at 12:30
Wow...When Su talks about the rocky times after Yui's departure and that she would 'protect' Moa if anything bad happened...What a bond between those Ladies!!!...Inspirational for sure...
Su and Moa had a bond very early, there is video that shows them on an airplane to Singapore. Yui and Moa were awake but Su was asleep with her head in Moa's lap
@@kevinlane7555 Something else, apparently Amuse proposed to end Babymetal when Yui formally left. Su and Moa insisted that they wanted to continue. Kudos to whoever at Amuse agreed.
@@outwest1014 Wow...I didn't know that, and as much as I miss Yui, I'm so happy that Su and Moa have stayed the course..Sometimes it's just so overwhelming how their stuff speaks to me. Japanese bands have kinda changed my life!!!
@@outwest1014 totally I mean had they said no and ended it we would had missed out on the epic songs they did after the fact to bad yui could not been able to continue with them but they gone on to be such an epic group and u can tell there is qenuine bond between these girls
About Moa loving to see girls in the crowd, at the risk of sounding like a simp I was in front of her when I saw them Feb 2020. She came over to the corner of the stage where I was at the barrier, I was in Babymetal cosplay and her face instantly lit up and she gave me a big smile. Like, we made eye contact. Highlight of my life. Ok who am I kidding, I am a simp.
I too am a simp for Moa. I also wore half my Babymetal cosplay and stood in the middle of the second row. Not to sound too delusional, but she did throw multiple glances at me, maybe because she was worried I'd pass out, because I was in a constant state of crying and grinning from ear to ear while singing my lungs out😂
I kept coming across this and thinking, "that could be interesting, but I'll save it for later." Finally I decided to make time for it and watch the whole way through. And now I'm wondering why I waited. Absolutely brilliantly well done! I'm not sure some of the ironic humour quite hits with the robot voice. And some of the on-screen text flies past far too quick to read. But that only gives even more reason to watch it again a few times. Which I certainly will be doing. Thank you for putting this together!
@@rnegitsune7681Is Babymetal metal? Yes. Is Babymetal pop?Yes. They are metal-pop and pop-metal !! That's simple. In a combination you are both things. For ex: "Mayonaisse is egg? Yeah but not totally but it is the important stuff.Mayonaisse is oil? Yeah too. So Mayonaisse is both egg and oil !!
this video was amazing in multiple aspects but also im really glad you explicitly acknowledged moa loves women...... she literally said 'i freeze up and get shy in front of cute girls' like what part of that sounds STRAIGHT to you, craig
*"Su does most of the talking, Moa chimes in when needed, and Yui just says UWU"* that was funny but that's also BABYMETAL in a nutshell. Awesome video!
You can tell that this girl is seriously completely in love with these girls, but that's probably also why it turned out to be such a good and very informative mini documentary because she was actually deeply interested and so into what she was researching. Great job on the video!
@IRU Li Ohhh, yep you are correct. Says it right on her about page, her name is Caitlin. I will edit and correct my original comment. Thanks for letting me know, and especially for doing it in a nice and decent way. A lot of people will attack the crap out of you and try to tear you apart if you make a mistake in a comment.
As a huge fan of Babymetal but someone who rarely has the willpower to follow band history and lore, and doesn't speak Japanese save a few anime phrases, I really appreciated this.
You really don't. And I mean this. You really DO NOT need a video that attempts to explain the LORE. Because LORE is made on an as-needed basis, it makes no sense when strung together. Well, bits of it make sense, but most of the more recent LORE is crap. All you need to know is OTFGK means, "We don't know. We'll work on that. Check back next week."
@@foxgodrecords2752 All that Lore when to shit when Yui left and they needed to think about something new for the audience to try to fit their next road, so don't blame them, they did the best they could to try to entertain the fans.
I totally agree with the point about Su singing better live, the use of autotune in some of the studio recordings actually holds her naturally strong voice back!!
@Kiani Cousins It is a term used by many narrow-minded metal fans (who are probably ones that listen to 80s thrash metal exclusively; which is good stuff mind you, but it can get a bit tiring after hearing the constant lines of palm-muted 0's that make up a lot of the basis of thrash songs) who attempt to disregard the possibility of Babymetal (and other musical acts who aren't exactly part of this conversation but have this term applied for good reason, like in the case of Nickleback) being within the realm of metal music. I would like to posit that a more accurate term for those who share the above sentiment that they say "Babymetal is not a conventional metal band" which would allow them to be in a similar conversation to bands like The Exploited (a Scottish hardcore punk band that often flirt with metal) and Ministry (an American industrial band who often utilizes a metal style and aesthetic with their undeniably industrial sound but started as a new wave band). EDIT: I just realized that Nine Inch Nails would've been a better example than Ministry as far as industrial is concerned EDIT 2: the original was a disgrace to the English language so I revised it a bit ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I started crying just seeing someone be this passionate about babymetal. I’ve loved babymetal since I was little growing up in a home where it was mainly my Japanese mom raising me. I don’t know why but it really hit me just how much people appreciate my culture in a non-creepy way.
Actually the first guide you made in tumblr was the first thing that made me get into babymetal some years ago and I am so grateful for it, i love this guides and I’m 100% gonna show this to anyone i can get into babymetal owo
i’m not even into j-pop, yet i watched this whole thing... it’s so interesting. their concerts look SO cool like wtf. Time to stop only stanning kpop i guess
I'm watching this after their release of the other one and how Momoko has been labelled as an official member. I think we should have an update video talking about these new editions to babymetal. Awesome video tho I have binged this so many times now lol.
Watching this documentary made me realize why so many people love Babymetal like their own little sisters or daughters. It's their personality which are kind, gentle, humble, funny and hardworking that captures the heart of a lot of people. Love Babymetal 4ever🤘🤘🤘
Drove 8 hrs from Mississippi to see them at the Kansas City show in September of 2019. Had not been to a concert in 20 years. They did not disappoint. Thank the fox God for Babymetal music and shows.
I'm a 35 gay metal guy... listening to melodic metal since i'm 19 around and just recently watched and heard Babymetal (Megitsune was a random recommandation from youtube) and even with this Song you could hear "omg Su-Metal has a great voice for such a kid"....and i didn't know that she has developed to such a greatness. I mean "road to resistance" and especially "Akatsuki" i mean WOHA O_o
I'm glad you said it, that the avengers are great each by themselves and should not be compared to one another. I love the fact how Babymetal got over their 2018 crisis and the introduction of several dancers to 'avenge' the 'loss' of Yuimetal just feels like these young and talented women did the right move ;)
i watched this video 3 years ago knowing absolutely nothing about them and im a huge fan now. this video got me into babymetal!! thank you, i'm rewatching it 3 years later!
As a middle aged man I had a lot of fun at the Legend - MG shows. When they brought out all the Avengers and the East and West Kami for RoR and IDZ, everybody freaked out, great energy.
I've been a fan of Babymetal since around 2016 and last year I finally got to go to one of their concerts, specifically their show in Dallas TX I have to say it was an amazing experience despite me feeling a bit awkward as a then-16-year-old who had never been to a concert before standing amongst a sea of grown metalheads ^^;; I would absolutely love to see them live again one day
Excellent, filled in some blanks for me especially 2018. Something I read, is that Yui's health issue is heredity within in her family. If true it explains many things especially the length of time we have not seen her. Unfortunately this is something that usually can only be controlled not cured. Yui is still listed as under contract to Amuse. Also It Is likely she is financially secure as she would be receiving residuals from the income the songs/videos that she performed in. Still miss her on stage and especially in interviews, that stare. Everyone BE SAFE sheltering in California.
Thank you for the info, never knew much about the circumstances surrounding her illness. Do you have any link or source where I can do further reading? I heard the reason she left Babymetal is to pursue solo career but I refuse to believe that.
@@WanH80 No, there is not a link to get Yui's status. The Japanese have rather stoic culture and family issues good or bad stay within the family. I'm retired so I have the time on my hands to not only view the videos, but the comments too. From there I pick up bits and pieces, and do my best not to put something out there that shouldn't. In the search window just put in Babymetal Yui, you will get far more hits than you bargained for.
him: starts explaining the chosen 7 me: visibly confused sumetal: all happens in the name in the fox god me: yes!!! only the fox gods knows (still confused tho)
I feel like the kistune hand sign represents Babymetal perfectly. It's not exactly traditional metal, it's not the good ol' devil horns but it's a variation of what was already there, adapted and refined to their style. Gotta love it.
First Impression of Riho: Wow Sayashi Riho is such a cool name After seeing her clips: RIHOMETAL IS SO FUCKING CUTE HOW IS THIS HUMANLY POSSIBLE UWU 32:05 onwards, her clips are heaven
Fun fact: I leaned about babymetal from my freshman year world history teacher after he figured out I liked Kpop. Where is the correlation I don’t know but shout out mr. mease for introducing me to them
my classmate also introduced me after i told him i liked kpop, i got a little scared at first, but mostly bc he was bold af with such a different... culture (it's usually hard for kpop and anime fans to talk about their likes, so i was expecting that from him too) i haven't really listened to them for a while, i guess my metal phase is taking a break, but welp here i am now
YES I need a quick update, I started listening to babymetal 4 days nonstop and I'm addicted, I wake up listening to it and listen to it before I go to sleep LOL, I get frustrated with myself for not keeping up with their era, and with the original three , became one of my favorite bands of all time. 🤟🏻🦊❤️
Yes, I cried (a lot) when it came to the announcement of Yui's departure .... We love Yui forever, and "forever we'll be right here". (Tokyo dome final sentence)
the 2018 KC show in May was first, and sadly probably only, BabyMetal show too! It was kind of a strange atmosphere but I still greatly enjoyed myself! I really don't understand people being rude to the new members... Get over yourselves. Be happy you still have them at all... they could've just split when Yui decided she couldn't do it anymore, but the remaining two figured out a way to keep going, FOR THE FANS. I'm sure both Moa and Su, especially Su, would easily be able to have a successful solo career, but they decided to stay together for us, the fans. *holds fox god hand sign high*
BabyMetal is a dream come true. First time right after Doki-Doki Morning I thought, this was nothing but another cheap idol-gimmick. But when HeadBanger was released, I already knew, this would be one of a kind journey... And look now, BabyMetal have one of the longest and grandiose worldwide tours one after another! One of many BabyMetal things, that fascinates me is the transformation of shy Suzuka into migty and glorious Su-mwetal she is now!
hi im a new babymetal fan and this helped me a lot to get into babymetal, there was a lot of things that i didnt knew so thank you for making this 💖 (btw sorry if i made any mistake im not fluent in english)
I have been listening to babymetal casually for a long while but I need to get into all their discography and also I’m so glad gob made this guide so I can learn something’s about them cause I knew nothing.
looks like I'm watching this on su-metals birthday... I became a fan of babymetal just yesterday when I stumbled upon gimme chocolate... and I became obsessed already...
Hey! This came up in my recommendation and decided to watch it. At first I was interested because I’m a kpop fan, I’ve heard about how hardcore Japanese metal is so I was already interested. In the beginning, I think Sakura Gakuin is such a cool concept! It’s amazing how a metal sub unit became such a big hit 😂!! I was immediately hooked. Getting to know the members, I was starstruck, everyone’s personalities are so adorable and charming dude- but when I kept hearing, “the original girls” throughout the first part I thought they would just add more members or something. When it got to the Fox God thing I was shocked and even a little scared, I LOVE how deep and spooky the premise was so it wasn’t a turn-off at all! When it got to the Yui departing part I was so sad, although today is literally the first time I’ve heard about them I was hit with waves of sadness.. the bond the girls shared were so loving to view. When they said the message the fans were waiting for I though Yui was coming back, not leaving :,(. But it happens a lot in kpop and other things so I simply had to deal with it. The avengers concept is literally so clever- I thought it would end off with them becoming unpopular and that worried me. But when I learned that there were 3 girls kinda filling in that space I was filled with joy 😭 Nothing was awkward at all, it was so natural and definitely refreshing to see that Yui departing didn’t harm the group. In the end, I’m totally curious and invested in learning more about BabyMetal, maybe even try being a fan in the future 👀😂! I’m 100% sure I’ve seen their visuals before, but this is my first time actually HEARING and LEARNING about them. I’m so glad I didn’t get bored and click off, I learned about some amazing and talented ladies 💜😊 I KNOW THIS WAS LONG BUT I NEEDED TO SAY THIS. Thank you!!💜💚💜
Babymetal are one of my fav bands , unfortunately in my place they are not really famous so I didn't know much about them thanks to this video now I understand a lot of stuff , thank you ♥️ you made God's work
i’m so glad i had an open mind to new music in other languages, there is a lot of english music i love but discovering that other languages have amazing music that i actually really like changed my life!!! i always thought “it’s not in english so i won’t enjoy it” but i have it a chance and im happy i did, it started with BTS then i got into a lot of kpop bands like blackpink, stray kids, exo, twice and then discovered jpop now babymetal, you don’t really see any artists doing the cute-scary concept that they do and i look forward to discovering more jpop bands!!! thanks for this video it’s super helpful!
They should let the avengers sing!!! Having gone and listened to some of the songs they sang in, they're great! Who doesn't love the avengers??? In fact, watching this video made me love them more. Thanks for putting in the effort to make it!
IVE BEEN A FAN OF THEM SINCE LIKE 2016 AND I SEARCHED FOR CONTENT LIKE THIS AWHILE AGO AND I NEVER FOUND IT, AND NOW IM SO HAPPY THEYRE GETTING THE RECOGNITION THEY DESERVE
