I LOVE this book series. Like, a cyberpunk retelling of Cinderella where she’s also ASIAN?!?! Yes, yes and YES!!! I think if all the books, Scarlet was my least favorite, since I just don’t care that much about little red riding hood.

If you liked the Cinder series, read the author's standalone book Heartless if you havent already!!!! Literally my favorite book ever and it would be fascinating to hear your take on it, especially since its pure fantasy setting and has some similar tones as Ever After High (and we all know you have a lot of thoughts on that one lol). I love Alice in Wonderland to a probably obsessive degree and Heartless is such a wonderful book that recreates Wonderland with a truly loving attention to detail.

My attachment to this series is unhealthy. I have read it 3 times and it has held up ever since, especially having read it at an older age. Yah, there are cliches, but Cinder is such a strong main character and KAI?!?!? My guy is amazing, deserves all of the love in the world ☝️☝️ Can't wait for the rest of the recaps!!

I had the biggest crush on Wolf when I was in middle school, he and Percy Jackson are the reasons why I would tell myself my type is tanned, Mediterranean guys with green eyes (Ironically don't think I've ever had a crush on a guy with greens eyes in my life).

Omg Lunar Chronicles! I am not ashamed to say that I did actually spend money buying the only-on-e-book choose-your-own-adventure cross-over that she wrote where Cinder meets characters from her other series as she tried to get ready for her wedding.

I was so obsessed with this series in middle school I even got my mom to read them and it's still one of our favorite series 8 years later

So much of Amanda's channel can be summed up by "omg I loved this series in middle school and I completely forgot that it existed. This unhinged recap is making me want to reread it again as an adult" and I'm so here for it

YESSS SOMEONE WHO PRONOUNCES “IKO” RIGHT 😭 😭 although peony is actually pronounce pee-uh-nee and channary is pronounced “sha-narry” or possibly “sha-nah-ray.” Marissa Meyer has a whole pronounciation guide on her website! Apparently there are people out there who pronounce Kai as “kay” 😭

Now I have to go read Scarlet! Thank you for the excuse! Also I was really into these books when they were being published and Marissa Meyer went on tour, I got all my books autographed. But also my teacher at the time, who introduced me to the series asked Marissa how she intended for Iko’s name to be pronounced and she said that ee-ko was right. My teacher asked because she often read the books aloud to her class and wanted to ensure she was pronouncing it correctly. So you are saying Iko’s name right, however I believe Adri’s name is pronounced A- (as in ape) dree (like free).

When you posted this video, I already had Cinder on my tbr (and I actually tried to read it 3 other times but never actually finished it) so I saved the video for when I finished the book. This book is my new favorite fantasy/dystopian fiction ITS SO GOOD I need to immediately read through sequels

I also used to think I could play Cinder. I think I was just starved for representation and she made me feel seen as a mixed person (I also do think I used to look pretty similar to her but I’m a trans guy now so… not anymore)
