I love/hate this book series! Its so unhinged and chaotic

For all the author tried to make it a love triangle, I adore the fact that any time Aspen opens his mouth everyone unanimously goes "Ew, no."

The most unhinged part of this book was America doing a last minute placard presentation on abolishing the fascistic system of oppression propping up the very people she is doing the presentation for. Like imagine the lackluster sharpie drawing and three bullet points on that thing. And people were like 😮 this girl is a GeNIuS

Watching this made me realize how toxic America is to Maxon. I didn’t realize it when I was younger. Also, I read the books with their daughter and I don’t remember the plot. I just know it made me mad. I think she must have picked the wrong person.

i dont know why but for me the wildest thing about this series is the names of the characters. america singer is.... a singer? born in what used to be america? the two love interests have weird names that rhyme? it's genius writing honestly

I remember how he kept telling her he *had* to marry someone even though he wanted her but she kept being wishy washy so he had to keep the other girls and then she was *shocked* he was dating other girls. All the while cheating on him! Smh

She's such an engaging story teller lmao i haven't read the books but I'm listening to this like it's a reality tv show

As chaotic as this series is, it doesn’t hold a candle to the insanity that is the “Red Queen” series.

it's clear that the original plan for this book was to make Maxon the bad option so aspen could rise But Maxon os such a good character the author had to make him the endgame

The break my heart line ALWAYS gets me, like even you just reading it has me swooning. I did read The Heir and The Crown and I did like it, honestly, but nothing could ever beat how unhinged but great the original Selection trilogy is.

I remember reading this series with the rest of my canon at summer camp in middle school, literally the book that bonded all of us together. This little story means so much to me 😭😭

I started the books involving A&M's daughter and I never finished them. They were a bit jarring because they're trying to get us to care about these new characters, but also still progressing drama with the OLD characters. I's just way too much to still have YA drama happening to literally everyone. The books just felt like I was standing on a mile high stack of rugs and having them pulled out from under me over and over. Eventually it's not shocking or even startling anymore, you just want to jump off the pile.

I loooove this series. However, the sequel series about America and Maxon's daughter is only worth a read if you're willing to face the same annoying back-and-forth bs that America and Maxon went through as well but just in princess form. Their daughter is quite callous

I always liked how the protagonist is so chaotic and the prince so dramatic. Especially on this second book, it's the worst of the trilogy, but it's okay because the final book is worth it.

So, you came out with these while I was rereading everything (including the last two). And I have a very unpopular opinion; but I prefer the last two. Not because they're actually any better, but because I love how Eadlyn doesn't start out as the most likeable character, but she grows so much. The shenanigans that happen are still chaotic, and I have a huge soft spot for a lot of the guys (especially who she ends up with). Still a guilty pleasure. Still not exactly the best written series, but I think the last two books are better than people give them credit for. The only people I've talked to about it just wanted her to have a romance like her parents, and that's not how that works. She's a different person, so she needed something different. And if you get past a few tropes, it honestly turns out pretty good
