If your content is personal enough that viewers can easily establish a parasocial relationship, they'll overstep boundaries, especially if you feature your relationship a lot in videos. Lizzie and Joel don't talk about their personal lives that often, or not nearly enough for viewers to feel entitled to knowing about their relationship.
A great example is Stephanie Soo and her husband because they’re private enough that we don’t know his face but he’s always in the background of videos and you can tell they truly love each other. My ex wife met me when I was 18 and she was 28.. when I finally broke it off she tried to say that I manipulated and abused her like she didn’t lie to me about multiple things that I expressed was important, ignored and disregarded my safety when it came to her comfort or her straight up not thinking about it, and her pressuring me to do certain things and when I didn’t she panicked that I wanted to leave her for a man to the point where a therapist had to tell her multiple times like I did that it was probably my medication and dysphoria. Can’t even recognize her as someone I use to love after the things she said to me. Funnily enough, she inadvertently admitted multiple times that she thought of me as a child while making fun of me “trying to be grown” for wanting to divorce her lmao. I’m 22 years old. I left home at 18 and had to help her pay off her debt, get a drivers license, look for an apartment, get a credit card, and start saving money in an account 😭 I was her damn mother at that point. All this to say. Enjoy your 20s. Don’t date people who could have been your college aged baby sitter, 8/10 times they’re secretly weird af. Also don’t ignore the red flags.

Grooming is such an insidious, complex thing, and if your first relationships are toxic like this, it's hard to know what's normal and what's not. I was groomed and even a decade later, I find myself still making excuses for him and new ways to blame myself for wanting love and attention. I think of it like black mould, you can paint over it and pretend it's all fine but at a certain point it seeps through and you start to realise you've been breathing in all these toxic spores for years. I wouldn't be surprised if, in time, that young woman is able to properly reflect and subtract the blame and shame she feels and place it where it belongs, on the shoulders of the person who was an adult at the time.

Okay so for some context, I remember watching Johnnie around 2016-2017 when he was in MDE. The drama there was crazyy( I recomend going down the rabbit hole). MDE was a collab channel with seven people, 6 of which ware between the ages of 16-19 I think and one grown ass adult Brian Star. He was 26 I think, also can a career interviewing emo bands before MDE. So I dunno how much I remember but pretty much I think most of them ware living together in an apartment, I'm pretty sure all the money was going to Brian and he was maybe acting like their manager or something. They had a blow out fight I think , people started leaving and at the end it was Brian, Johnny and his then gf Alex on a couch explaining everything. At some point Brian locked everyone out of the yt channel and tried rebranding it with a different group of teens , and the og mde tried making a change on their own but it didn't last long( I think it was just growing up and having different goals). Also fun fact Johnnie was being shipped with one of the other boys named kyle( their ship name was kohnnie) so he's been on the queer baiting grind since day onee. @@zandikhetwayo7444basically the guy who decided to make MDE (Bryan Star) made interview videos of popular band members at warp tour and Johnnie was a HUGE fan of him at the time and underage and Bryan hired him to help him out on stuff from there he basically started to take advantage of Johnnie being young and not knowing anything and formed MDE and forced Johnnie and other members to do stuff they didn’t want to consent to but since they were all really young and Bryan was much older and had a hold of their income they did everything he asked… a lot of the MDE videos are now just sad to watch knowing they were all basically being abused
i usually get bored when im watching a video of a podcast like this, but your videos are so inticing and i really love your approach to all the drama. it is very entertaining, keep doing what you do!!

IN MY OPINION, Tara getting hated on is for the most part not deserved, the argument of her interrupting Alyssa while she was talking about her struggles with depression was during a drunk episode. they had since talked about it on the podcast and neither held ill will. Tara blew up quickly and has been put in the spotlight, it wasn't an easy thing. Tara also recognizes that she can interrupt and tries not to. And people who harrassed her for things she did as a little kid are the ones who need to grow up. (of course, i do not know her personally but it's just a little grievance of mine 💗)
I don’t watch her but I did see the full clip where Alyssa was being made fun of for her looks and Tara cut in saying “I’ve never been made fun of for the way I look.” Was that a drunk episode? Ik they’re friends and all but that comment was tone deaf and nastyy 😭

tara did leave the dropouts podcast. also, the tarayummy mindset sound was something jake and johnnie told her to say as a joke, and people started taking it really seriously.
(Not a punk girlie) I noticed that a lot of criticism towards how they dress, mainly Jake, is that it isn’t just an aesthetic as you said. Punk is a political movement and Jake, who says he doesn’t identify with punk, literally has a political punk tattoo and (from what I’ve heard) supports fast fashion, which is very against the ideologies of punk.

I stopped watching them when in Jake's cruise vlog, Tara was tispy or drunk and started doing grabby hands and going "Uppies uppies uppies! Johnnie will you carry me to dinner!" It was too weird for me to keep watching the video. I watched Tara's cruise vlog, and she was much more chill. I think she was playing it up for his vlog, but it's still really weird! Another thing that made me stop watching, is even though I like their videos trying weird stuff, I grew up pretty poor. Target is expensive to me. Them spending on so much food and random things they don't need other for the videos makes me kinda mad when they don't need to! It's wasteful.
i really loved your video and the way you highlighted their faults as well as their helpness on the internet. In the end we're all humans with both good and bad and the best we can do is be kind to each other :)

A lot of people recently dug up Indiana and Zach's old IG posts/comments and I've never been more disgusted in my entire life. And thank you for pointing out that he literally actively saw her at 14 yrs old when he was 20/21, and still decided to publicly date her as soon as she turned 18. That tells me everything I need to know about Zach Justice. Not to mention how he recently asked Joe Gatto which one of his 50 yr old friends would he let a "hypothetically older daughter" date (mind you he does have a daughter but she's currently 9 yrs old).

This video is truly refreshing. Obviously every human is biased in some way, but I feel like this was an impressively unbiased and logical take/recap of the situation. Which is def hard to find nowadays.

Like “lmao we are obnoxious.” And some of the stuff might be real like in some moments when Jake stims (he has autism) that might be just him not acting for the camera, but I’m 90% sure that 70% of it as an act or at least not really how they act in public

i think people that defend zach for dating indiana are willingly forgetting that he knew her since she was 14. if they had met when she was 18 it would still be weird but less problematic but he knew her since she was going through puberty
As someone who met johnnie at warped tour in the late 2010s, it’s so weird to see the “newer” fans like shipping him with people. It’s so fucking weird. Johnnie has been taken advantage of many times in the past so I feel like all that shit makes him uncomfortable. He’s a grown ass adult tryna live his life.

I agree but at the same time, I feel like he subconsciously enables that behavior from his fans. His fans are young and very impressionable, they lose their shit if anyone criticizes him and Johnnie posts a video about it online just full on sobbing about it. There’s a connection to that is what I’m saying basically and I think he should be the adult in those situations and build boundaries with his own fans, they’re parasocial and baby a full grown man, all while sexualizing him too
