Vivi if you have such great ideas for sly 5 why don't you write some game plot idea fanfics and then share them with us? you could make some really great stories.
Maybe during the attack Sly’s mom saw an opening to escape and ran. Once she got out she realized she left her son behind, wanting to back for him, but knowing she would be killed turn and kept on running and hoping that Sly would be ok without her. Thats just my theory, I just want to believe that Sly’s mom cared about her family and wasn’t in it just for the money. Feel free to comment if you agree or disagree with my theory.
My father was notorious for causing trouble with the law he made them look like fools many times and on the night he was murdered the cops didn't care they were happy he was gone... That's why my mother's name wasn't on the case file... Unfortunately and perhaps this was deliberate.
I have 2 theories 1. The person in the picture isn’t Sly’s birth mother but maybe a stepmother who left after Conner died because she couldn’t afford to take care of her stepson alone or 2. She was the one who revealed the location of Sly’s home to the Fiendish Five to have Sly’s father murdered and gave each of them a page of the book so Sly would never be able to inherit it obviously that backfired but I still think it’s an interesting theory nonetheless
I was a little skeptical of the theory but listening was entertained, until you mentioned the painting with Sly holding his father's hand but not his mother's. Then it all made sense hahahaha

This just gave me a whole new untapped potential of alternative stories, even with the time-travel theory-stories with His father we've all thought of, imagined and created our own fan-fics. Seeing His Mother in modern age or going back and discovering that His mother left him would be such a more heartbreaking and immensely emotional roller-coaster of storytelling to explore!

I don't think Sly's mom abandon him. I think she must have died before his dad got killed by the fiendish five. I'm thinking maybe Sly's mom passed away first. That's why Sly was close to his father. His mom probably died when Sly was younger than 8. That's the same age you mentioned when his father died. So I don't think the mom abandon Sly. Sly must have had a good family. They shouldn't be that cruel to abandon each other. That's why Sly and the other Coopers are loyal. I believe that makes more sense.
This is such a deliciously delectable topic. I think the right answer is in the photograph. We know that Connor Cooper used to be in a gang with Dr. M. What is Dr. M known for? That's right, splicing together creatures and even combing living things with non living things. We can only assume that these created abominations don't have birth certificates or any other kind of proof of identity and thus are essentially off the grid. What if connor fell in love with one of his friends creations? What if she was murdered and due to her to having no paper trail, was not mentioned in the police file. You mentioned that sly is only holding his fathers hand. Look again. He is also holding his mothers balloon-hand! She is a balloon hybrid created by Dr. M. We can tell it is her hand because the string is in the same shape of the cooper cane, showing that she is Connor's bride. I think they should explore the role of hybrids as second class citizens in sly 5.
Heh. Not bad, @rileyporter4610. That comment deserves a tip of the ol' Sly Cooper cap (a timeless classic btw). However, I think there are a few things you failed to take into consideration, here. Your theory (and it is just a theory, my fellow Coopheads) might just hold some weight. Sly's mother is most likely a mutant, I'll agree with you there. But I just don't buy the idea that Dr. M (a genius who rivals Bentley btw) would try splicing an animal with a balloon. I mean, c'mon, Dr. M! What special qualities would you gain from getting crossed with a balloon? Your resulting mutant would get popped if somebody pointed a pin at him (or, more realistically, shot him with a bullet or perhaps a laser cannon discharge). And yes, before you say it, I realize that perhaps these balloon mutants might be lighter than air, which could admittedly be pretty useful in Dr. M's nefarious schemes. But there are just too many downsides. And do we know if Dev Madan or Nate Fox have ever discussed the possibility that the mutants could be spliced with something other than animals? As far as I know, they have not. Until we get confirmation otherwise, my gut tells me that Dr. M's mutants are only made up of different animals and not inanimate objects. Sorry to be so hard on you hehe. I really do think that you're onto something with the paper trail and with Sly's mom, I just don't think your balloon theory is on the money. Oh and also I know you said that Dr. M was combining living things with non-living things but I think technically he's only equipping his mutants with metal weaponry, so really it's not splicing the two together. I'm open for debate on that point tho.
Crazy thoughts... What if Sly's parents were in a domestic partnership? Not technically married, but still had Sly? And, this will sound rather clichè, but what if Sly's mom died shortly before The Fiendish Five ambushed Conner? That could explain why she isn't mentioned in the police file. Than again, with the original trilogy, the consistency on Sly's parents' fates weren't always intact; but with that in mind, that could be part of Sly's Memory Distortion!
Maybe Sly's mother went into hiding in fear of The Fiendish Five, and thought maybe Sly would be safer growing up in an orphanage than on the run with her? That's also assuming The Fiendish Five were after both parents and not just Conner, since we only ever hear about him being apart of the gang. It's possible she had some involvement in the gang as well, maybe she wasn't just a normal law abiding citizen, or maybe she was. Fear does drive people to do crazy things. Also, we don't know if his mother was still in the picture when the Fiendish Five attacked, maybe a messy separation and TFF took advantage of it and attacked? I wonder if we would get a moment in Sly 5 where Sly and the gang travel back to that fateful day to stop The Fiendish Five, of course not actually stopping them in the long run but Sly ends up finally moving on from his grief, maybe some more details could arise about his mother that way.
Plot twist: Sly’s Mother was a fox and was also Carmelita’s mom and they just pulled a Star Wars on us! XD Nah, I’m kidding. But sadly I don’t think much *good* could come from the theory of Sly’s Mom being alive. Either a) She abandoned Sly, not coming forward to raise him, or b) Was trapped and possibly tortured for more than a decade. Both of which would be heart breaking. Then there’s c) Amnesia, which is such an overused trope that I don’t really want to entertain it.
Maybe sly mother is in prison not a normal prison a high security prison And sly didn't save her and don't remember her because of trauma. If sony release new sly Cooper game maybe sly gang will find out about sly mother and rescue her from the prison to help them in search of sly . Maybe we get to play as her

Unless she was an alcoholic woman full of debts (this is also a possible theory) Let me ask you something: Have you ever managed to finish the game 100% to get the secret videos? In the game there are three secret films, one was obtained with 86-87% and is the Japanese version of the introductory film: The Secret Police File. (which is obtained when Sly escapes from the police station) The other two would have been obtained by completing the game 100% (I never managed to finish it. I finished the other three but not the first one) Is there some Holy Soul who Have you finished the game 100%? However I have a theory about Sly's mother... If the father is a thief the mother should be the opposite of him or a policeman... Sly is in love with Carmelita right? She is a policewoman. and at the end of the third chapter he pretended to have amnesia to stay together with his beloved (who then changed her mind in the fourth chapter but details) It could be that SLy's mother could be a former policeman who regretted his choice of married life...I'll throw it out there, it's just a theory p.s. The stylized version of Connor seen in the fourth chapter of the saga is adorable
I might not know about Sly's parents, but I don't believe mom abandoned Sly or never loved him. I think the situation is similiar like with Carmen Sandiego. Maybe Sly's mom was also a criminal but on different side, perhaps worked solo or for Clockwerk until she met Conner and fell in love with him. I rather believe this scenario than the idea of good-for-nothing mom.
I hope his mom didn't just abandon him that would be absolutely heartbreaking to see to me as someone who grew up without a dad and my mom really didn't care enough to pay attention to me growing up I have more bad memories of her than good to see sly treated like a piece of garbage and thrown away that would just be so sad to see I hope that's not what happened sly has been through enough to have that happen we'll just make his world shatter😢
I wonder why murray and Bentley were in the orphanage. I hope sly 5 can give more backstory on murray and Bentley's past. And more of sly cooper's past
why does the picture of his parents on the wall look like him and carmelita? And his fathers shadow looks exactly like his own. Maybe they had a deeper story to his father and mother. After they introduced time traveling in sly 4 i have always been wondering that he is his own father and carmelita is his mother. That they are stuck im a kind of loop and thats why they never show their faces in any of the games and the reason to that his father is so mysterious and similar to sly.
Yeah, it's really strange on Sly Cooper games we can't see Sly's parents defienitily Sly's father's face and Sly's mother games dosen't talks that much than a father but it's sad what happened Sly's parents when Clockwerk, King Panda and other evil villains killed Sly's parents and Sly went to the children's home where he met Bentley and Murray he's friends and new family. I believe Sly's parents looks like a raccoons like him but dad might had a moustaches and mother had a long hair with a beautiful face and she was a thief too or what if Sly's father was loved in a polive lady too like how Sly likes Carmelita? Well that's a stupid thinking, Sly's mom should was a thief like Sly's father was. It would be nice if some of he's parent like mom is still alive. Sly's and Carmelita's "relationship"is so nice I like Carmelita trying catching Sly but same she likes Sly and Sly likes Carmelita but Sly is a raccoon and Carmelita is a fox so they can't make a family or can they? By the way because Sly Cooper 4 thieves in time ends a cliffhanger we still needs a Sly Cooper 5 after these 10 freaking YEARS, man I miss Sly Cooper and feels an old. We need a Sly Cooper 5, it's name would be Sly Cooper Return of ancestor or Sly Cooper "A missing Sly" where the whole team Bentley, Murray, Carmelita, Dimitri, Guru and Panda King trying finding Sly Cooper with using Bentley's Time machine and Penelope should come back too after relasing how bad thing she did, Sly's Band of thieves will discover Sly from 4 diffrent country and finally they find an acient Egypt where Sly is. assuming the police file to be somewhat accurate perhaps there’s validity in the idea that sly’s mom died too, possibly at the hands of clockwerk…ya know guilt by association, i mean the interpol records wouldn’t write down both parents as “deceased” unless there’s evidence to back that up…which they would have given how they are ya know…INTERPOL but…hey that’s just a theory, could of been illness could of been murder at the hands of Dr. M for all we know
It would be kool if she escaped some how but all though if she did I think she would've adopted sly under a different name and then change sly's name I don't think she would've left him at orphange or maybe she left him there because she either didn't want the risk of getting themselves killed or because she thought he would have a better life if someone else adopted him
I need to retype my guess: conner is like Jimmy Ford a retired father thief from leverage his son Nate has followed him after nate lost his son Sam and ending the ford family tree. So Nate's mom did get a loving mention but Jimmy died she never appeared or mention again even after her son died she lost her husband, grandson and son. As for Carmelita investigator she may be Carmelita named but not the one we all know she is Carmelita senior Carmelita is jr as for sly's mom she must have died at another place another time but divorced divorced. I don't think Carmelita and sly are siblings just because they had similar background. As for the mom she not holding sly's hand she left not wanting anymore with sly's family but sly must have imagined his mom died there too. She may not have liked conner's ideas and heratiage but he loved her.
Sly's Mom still being around is a cool idea, but IDK how I feel about her being a crap mom. Maybe she almost dies and that near death experience makes her get amnesia. Maybe she was knocked out and not killed. She thought Sly died that night with her husband and when she woke up she ran.
even thought what you said is kind of a maybe but you forget, "clockwerk" he could of killed Sly's mum when sly was still small. to keep Sly safe, his father went into hidding, which why Doctor M and his other partner was left behind, Doctor M felt his friend left them to keep all the money "which would explain him being so nuts and thinking being smart is better and he is better" but as I was saying if you take everything in account you can see the picture, "clockwerk" killed Sly's mum. then he form a gang which thank to them and maybe a big of Sly's mum's fur in clockwerk's claws and the Voodoo woman's magic, found Sly and his father. well that what I believe when I take everything into account.
A weird and kind of dark thought is how does procreate work here? Like, do two characters need to be of the same species, or can like a cat and a dog have sex and their child has a 50/50 chance?

If that works like furry... Sometimes we can get a hybrid, sometimes is a rolling a dice. Like furry Cat mom + furry Dog dad = *rolling dice* a furry Cat son / furry Dog son / daughter. So... In Sly games we don't saw a hybrid so... His mother could have been any animal, any kind. Yes, I know... it won't help anything, even the opposite.... will give more opportunities as to Mother. 🦝 Unless we want something stronger and more f*cked up....
