For a family of four, how many plants is recommended to have some fresh eating as well as some for storage?

I would go with 4-6 green bean plants. Plant 4-6 as soon as you can get them started. Plant another 4-6 plants 4 weeks later. And another 4-6 plants 4 weeks after that. That would be to keep a steady supply of green beans over the whole season. This accounts for diseases and insects and all that too.

Thank you for giving information on this bean variety. I grow yardlong beans and will try it. Can you save the seed for planting the next year, or is that not recommended?

I think they are hybrids so you need to use new seed, not saved seed
