Is she letting her baby nurse? Poor little thing. I’m heartbroken, watching her move that hind leg like she’s still chained. Humans are so cruel….but Lek’s kindness balances some of it out in the long run. It hurts to watch this traumatized elephant…I hope she realizes soon that she’s safe.♥️

Note the title of this video, that being an update after their first night. That was August 12. In case you haven't heard yet, the mother elephant, Bunma, has been nursing her baby from both breasts since August 13th, just shortly after rescue. They are both doing well, feeding and sleeping well, they are putting on weight, they have been discovering the peace of ENP, and Bunma has calmed quite a bit. She's come a long way in a very short time. This video was first posted on FB, then later to YT, so it wasn't "fresh" when it was uploaded here. For fresh reports, one needs to go to their FB page. Rest assured, Bunma and Chaba are doing very well. :)

I love elephants too...You may be interested in this: Paul Farthing, an ex Royal Marine, who did spay & Neuter work on the animals in Afghanistan for years, got hundreds of animals out and landed safely in the UK yesterday. This is not to cheapen human life... these pets were put in Cargo and had a rough ride. This man deserves our thanks for his animal saving efforts. The Taliban made the decision to allow the pets, after 10 hours waiting in cages, deadly excessive heat, and trapped on a truck. It was life or death. Prayers answered!

Videos are posted first to FB, then days later here at YT. We have learned on ENP's FB page, Aug. 13, that Bunma has been producing enough milk for both breasts, such that Chaba has been nursing from her mother for the last 5 days. :) Bunma will continue to learn the peace of ENP, and as soon as she selects a nanny, that nanny will provide for her great peace, a sense of safety and the ability to get the sleep that she needs, as well as stability and encouragement.

@cacatr4495
@cacatr4495 3 года назад
Yes, absolutely, elephants "talk" a lot to each other, and doubtless they tell newcomers that ENP is a good place, safe, that there are no worries there. But the mother-ele will likely have to see that proven before she fully relaxes, and it will take time in this safe, sane, peaceful environment for her to heal.

The empathy and virtual telepathy between the elephants as the group tries to soothe the traumatised mother is unbearably touching. That such intelligent creatures should be used to perform tricks, to be chained and mistreated, seems to me as bad as if it were being done to a human being who for some reason could not resist. Also, I remember reading from the late Gerald Durrell that the pacing of caged animals was once thought to be normal boredom. He found a good supplement formula for the animals in his zoo, vitamins and minerals baked into biscuits, which treated them and seemed to cure the condition. It's good to know how much can be learned to help abused animals recover a normal sense of themselves.

It is amazing that humanity has not stopped their madness long enough to seriously consider their deeds against their own children, against animals, against Creation. Many consider themselves adequately intelligent, yet their actions reveal no fear of consequence, and little understanding, if any. Many consider themselves religious in one form or another, yet their actions reveal no understanding of justice or righteousness, no fear of God, no fear of judgment. For supposedly being the smartest creatures on Earth, humanity certainly has been stupid for thousands of years.

Yes, we all will be judged by our acts and the harshest judgement will come from ourselves once the veil is lifted. We have all suffered on this planet including the animals, plants and Mother Earth. This mother elephant seems traumatized.

@@christinatweet6580 It is my understanding that the wood called Teak is brought out of the Asian rain forests by elephants, perhaps out of Burma/Myanmar. It's a beautiful wood that is fashioned into bowls, household adornments and furnishings, tables, end-tables, nightstands, but buying it supports an industry that forces elephants to work in logging. As we know, any time an elephant is made to work, they are first forced through Torture Training aka The Crush aka Phajaan, which kills up to half of all captive elephant calves. We should not buy paintings done by elephants, and we should be circumspect about imports, considering where they came from and how they were harvested before we buy.

Absolutely sad. Her eye pupils don't look normal. Her head swaying improved a bit since I last saw the previous when she was chained at the previous owner's site. Hope she recover soon.

Breaks my heart to see such cruelties to elephants! Poor Mama. She is soooo very stressed! It's so sad to see them shake their heads back and forth like that! Have you bottle fed the baby yet? Mama doesn't seem too interested in her baby right now! Could that cause emotional trauma to the baby when he grows up?

For readers that don't know, Bunma had trouble producing milk for her calf, but 5 days ago, her milk began to flow, first with one breast, then both, so Chaba has been nursing from her mother since that time. Bunma has been very traumatized by the brutality she suffered, so distressed that she's not really clued in to the fact that she has a baby at times. But as she learns the peace of ENP and sees the freedom, joy and love of the elephants that will seek to support her, especially of the nanny she will soon choose and accept, she will relax and experience peace for herself.

Sweet Bunma and Baby Chaba. I hope in time Bunma will heal from her psychological wounds. Elephants are intelligent and emotional creatures. They suffer from trauma, which can take a very long time to heal. (They suffer in ways that human psychologist would recognize.) I hope that with time and the love, dedication, and experience of Lec and her team, Bunma will become a happy, carefree elephant enjoying her life and raising her precious baby Chaba. This is the best place for suffering elephants to heal.🤗💕 To my fellow elephant fans:💕🐘💕 This sanctuary needs our help. Please, if you love animals and believe elephants should be free from being used as entertainment props and beasts of burden, help support this wonderful place. They provide excellent care for the elephants including outstanding medical care, but all of this costs money. Just a few dollars go a long way. For the price of a cup of Starbucks coffee, you can help support this sweet mother and child. Imagine if we all contributed $5! So many more elephants can be saved! Thank you for reading this and giving what you can. 🤗💕 A thumbs up and subscribing to the channel is free and also supports these beautiful elephants. 🤗💕

In this video, Lek said that 85% of elephants arrive in this terribly traumatized condition, mentally, just as we see here with Bunma, swinging her head back and forth repeatedly, with a truly injured demeanor. She still has a 'chain on her mind', though her feet are free. It's horrible, and I am thankful that over time in this safe, peaceful, loving environment, the mother ele will heal. She has begun a new chapter of Life, thankfully, and her babe will never suffer torture as she has. (Chains on the mind are what Phajaan/Crush/Torture Training are meant to accomplish, a captive mind, an enslaved mind, a tortured mind. It can easily be said that Phajaan/Crush/Torture Training are crimes against Creation.) Every moment that she doesn't sway is progress, significant progress.

@@vblackwell3347 Thank you. I have a passion for the Truth and for elephants, I love them, wild horses too, and all Nature. But the Truth is little respected in the world, so there are great gaps in information. I wonder if my posts are too long or too many, but it's important to inform about elephants, they're vital, both as the precious intelligent creatures that they are, loving and empathetic, but also as the Asian Keystone species that they are. People don't often know that the most efficient method of reforesting damaged rain forests is to reintroduce the elephant to their former range. This is important, not boring, because like the wild horse, elephants are a non-ruminant species, which means, due to their single stomachs, their food is only lightly processed, not gleaned of all its nutrients, such that when a wild horse or an elephant migrates and leaves behind their native-forage deposits, they are investing in the richness and vitality of the soil and increased vegetation. Ruminant species are many (cattle, elk, deer, bison, water buffalo, pronghorn, moose, bighorn sheep, sheep, and many others) due to their numerous chambered stomachs, process the heck out of their food, such that their waste deposits are stripped of nutrients, making them of little value to the soil. But the single-stomached large herbivore migrators, the elephant and the horse/donkey/equine that eat native forage, can reseed and nourish the land like nobody's business. It is vital that they are big eaters, and that they migrate in Nature the distances that they do, because they have a big job to do in bringing nourishment and seed deposits to the soil, which in turn increases native forage for thousands of other species. ONLY the big migrating herbivores with single stomachs do this, and their job is VITAL for the Earth. Elephants and wild horses ARE the Keystone species of the Earth. It is past time for mankind to wake up, and to learn wisdom. I hope this information, too, is found appreciable to insightful souls here. Thank you for your comment. (If there are times I don't reply, people should keep in mind that I'm not notified of all replies.) If people care about wild horses, they should see my playlist called "Critically Urgent & Important . ." about Arizona's Heber wild horses that the FS plans to remove soon. Thank you.

@cacatr4495

First, nursing mothers can''t be given medication due to the necessity of protecting her milk for the baby. Second, these videos come late to YT, they show up first on FB. Since this video showed up here, we have learned via ENP's FB page, that 5 days ago, Bunma began producing milk for Chaba, first in one breast, then with both, so Chaba has been nursing from her mother. Further, the encouragement and healing support from the other elephants that understand what Bunma has been through, will bring her great help, and especially the mature and stable, experienced nanny that Bunma will choose and accept soon. She will be able to sleep, she will learn that she can relax and be at peace, and her healing will become visible. :)

Very informative video update--- Glad this mom and calf were rescued from an abnormal existence Nature did not intend--- Sad to see how much that former life still affected the Mom E. with the head weaving and foot shuffling--Baby clearly wants to "make friends" but takes it's cue from Mom and hangs around with her. Eventually she and baby will be part of a larger family---that will nuture the love she will extend to the Herd and return it in kind.

How long do Bunma and Chaba need to stay in quarantine? What are the criteria for them to join the herd? (This is my first time viewing this channel). Does Bunma produce enough milk & nutrients (given her condition), & is the staff supplementing Chaba's milk from mom w/ a special formula? Thank you all for rescuing these elephants & working 24/7 to meet their physical, mental, social, & emotional needs. Elephant are such wonderful creatures. God gave humans a directive to care for His creatures & all His creations. We all need to take this responsibility very seriously!
