Hi Beno. I loved your appearance on that Channel 4 thing on lift surfing. I was laughing at why they even bothered to conceal your voice since anyone can just look you up on youtube and hear (At least what I think is) your actual voice lol.
For the 5500 in the car park, I wonder if a hole was left at the top of the shaft where the cables would have gone (for when the lift had a motor room). Theoretically you could get a camera on a stick, put it through and have a peep to see if the equipment is still there.
I just filmed two of the last remaining Miconic V in the USA. There were not many of them installed and most are modernized. The 5500 replacement is a shame. They should have just upgraded the logic and cleaned everything else up.
I've not seen a lift that spoke bits of poetry before, as the library lift did. This is the 3rd central library building in Birmingham. First a fine Victorian building, then a 60s modernist building, and now the present one.
Regarding the Shit-Talking Lift (™) does it randomly pick a shit-talking phrase everytime it moves, or is each floor assigned a specific pre-set shit-talking?
I would like for another Gunwharf Quays video. I do like to watch your channel but I'd love to see another one of those lift tour videos or something like but at Gunwharf Quays
Because the outdoor car park lifts near marks and Spencer’s are either being repaired or even modernised. I hope they don’t modernised them as they are my favourite non-automatic lift ever.
@@nelsonahlvik6650 I just call it that as it uses the same set up as the levelling and pre-doors. The VF drive has to know the lifts absolute position and hold it still as the brake releases. Schindler seems to be the only company that has the nerve to do this. While all VF drive lifts hold the lift still as the brake releases, Schindler is confident enough with their equipment to do it with the doors open. A lot of lifts jolt slightly when the brake releases. And while there is nothing wrong with a lift jolting with the doors open, it will scare the passengers (Schindler lifts never jolt on pre-start, which shows how well designed Schindlers are). It is safe because if the lift moves 20 cm beyond the floor, the shaft bar for the 3 bypass relays will stop the lift. But it is still scary. I have opened lifts while it is in pre-opening doors, re-levelling and pre-start phases, and I will admit that this scares me and I won't step onto the lift during these phases. Also, have you ever seen lift run away during pre-door, relevel or pre-start? I have seen it a couple of times. It is strange to watch. For some reason the VF drive fails to hold the lift still, or gets confused with the position that the lift, and the lift slowly creeps away from the floor until the bypass relays disengage.
@@benolifts I have not seen a lift run a way with the doors open, (do you know of any videos of this?) but i have seen an Ecodisc fail to relevel and go out of service. Also, do you know anything about the parameter “Fast start sequence” (menu 7 parameter 90) on Kone LCE? Option 2 is “Drive command to drive in advance”. Do you think this would enable some sort of pre-start? Option 1 to that setting is also “Separate Door Close Limit in use”. Does this suggest that you could have a separate door limit where the lift would begin to start up before the doors were fully closed? Option 3 is 1 and 2 combined so this would be the most efficient.
@@benolifts I’ve seen North American Gen2s pre start with VF. I believe with the brake too as when the door is just slightly closed, the lift immediately moves up/down
