We had 1 unit at Argos restricted to 51mph. On a run from Heywood to Kettering i was loosing 45 minutes. Saturday i was getting £19\h so every Saturday i was getting £40 more because of slow unit 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 All of the units should be restricted to 35mph
You should be able to adjust that in the settings, I’ve set mine at 52 so I know if my truck is restricted to 52 then I’ll be on time but if my truck is restricted to 56 then I’ll be early
@@Phen0mable not a case of wanting to do it quickly, I like to know I will get there on time or - preferably- early. That way I have time to relax a bit and have a coffee. I don’t rush
Im glad you happy with it, my exper plust was absolutely rubbish, first six destinations couldn't find them, so wasn't impressed..in the end got pissed off and sent it back for a refund. . Voice control intermittent. Too many tight turns. Toi many failed destinations Too many problems with sucker mount falling apart. Support from tomtom awful.. No coordination button. £400 quid not worth it . Wish i did a true full view b4 i sent it back .. don't waste your money..
I can’t comment on the Garmin Sat nav as not had one - they do look good! That was the alternative I was considering at the time I bought my TomTom. I am very happy with mine. I bought it in a recommendation from a truck driving friend and it has served me well
The only problem I've with my older tomtom 6200 is it not had ant traffic for 6 weeks but I've paid for the year no way of contacting tomtom its getting on my nerves as I'm a night driver & catch all the road closures
Just started my first hgv job today & my new boss recomends i get a sat nav. As I will be doing ADR the dangerous goods part is great. I just learnt today a lot of tunnels have ADR restrictions. BTW I used to work for Coca Cola Enterprises in Southampton
I’ve been using it for a year now and it has helped me every day! Back to tramping starting this week and already it has saved me hours after rerouting around an accident
@Nws Sounds good but they are designed for companies to use and are installed in the vehicle - not much use to a driver that may be in different vehicles! I’ve been using my TomTom Go Expert for over a year now and overall it has been excellent - from central London to out in the sticks it has always given me a few options and plenty of warnings about bridges etc As long as you program it and use it correctly it is a great truck sat nav! Not had to reverse out of any situations as it hasn’t put me in any in 14 months
@Nws At first it seemed to me like possibly an useful comment, but then I looked on their website and they don't sell "web fleet devices". And then I thought I really doubt that they castrate their professional series devices/versions, just to sell the actual "good stuff" only to the companies. Sounds just really strange, or really unlikely. Because that would mean millions of professional truckers having a navigator that is not working overall well (and that would mean having most of truckers not like Tomtom navigation). Not to mention that if this was so, on the forums etc the community would have known four years now that "if you're a professional trucker, don't bother with the Go Professional series". Or if say companies' navigation devices were doing a better job at guiding the truckers - again, it would've been common knowledge on forums and among truckers for a long time now.
@Nws Plus web fleet doesn't seem to be a device really, rather a subscription/login. I think it's more likely that you just have this one route where Go Expert doesn't work properly, and you just assumed it works like this differently in any scenario/for any route. I don't know, what you wrote just doesn't sound very plausible.
@Nws Maybe you're right, I don't know either way. But the problem with buying such device from eBay or whatnot, is that 1) it seems one needs to have a subscription (login and password) and even if the seller gives it who knows maybe after some time this credentials will stop working, and 2) I bet there are problems with map updating/traffic/speedcam services too, things won't work properly. I mean of it is so, TomTom probably does everything so that only companies could use this their (better) service, and that companies are prohibited to sell the devices and credentials to privates, etc. But it is an interesting piece of information that you've provided, I'll see if it's discussed on forums somewhere, so that to understand all the nuances. And you're saying you bought it from a private person, they just gave you the credentials, and you've been using it without problems for years now (with functioning map updating, traffic and speedcams)? Or does your device have certain limitations maybe?
I can’t comment on the 400 as this is a completely different device - TomTom Go Expert for HGV. I’m in and around London regularly myself and it has always routed me correctly. Maybe your device needs an update?
Thanks. I’m using the Nextbase 520. Pretty good cam, think I’ve got a review on here somewhere. It or the iPhone I use does have connection issues when trying to use live view etc but as a dash cam it is great once all connected up as it should be
I am from llanelli mate and if you set it for kidwelly, its takes you up fiveroads and through the reboeth road lane which is way too tight and bendy for an artic truck
You can set it to avoid B roads I think in the settings before you plan a trip. Or afterwards you can select to find alternative route and pick from the ones it comes up with
@@HGVDave im not sure why it avoids the sandy road up to pwll like the plague, pretty sure there are no restrictions on that road. I will have to look into avoiding B roads. Nice one pal
Not sure. It has one that could be (resembles the lettering on your name)! I can take a pic of it and send it to you to check if you want to send me your e-mail address or add me on FB HGV Dave and message me on there then I can send pics to you without e-mail.
I’ve not had that problem happen on mine. Have you tried updating it so that it has latest software etc? I keep mine tethered to my bluetooth and phone Wifi all the time so it automatically updates. I’d contact TomTom and report the issue with them so they can possibly offer a solution Sorry to not be any help.
I don’t know if you get the same problem but mine sometimes freezes in my last location. So I’ll be driving down the the M4 and it will direct me from just say my last location was the M5. But the curser just stays still and don’t move.
I haven’t had that happen to mine. Maybe it needs an update? Sorry, I don’t know with that one - you could go on TomTom website and send a query so maybe they might tell you how to fix it.
Have you managed to sort the my drive app connection? Ive got this sat nav and a iPhone and I can’t connect my phone using the app to the sat nav either
No I haven’t. Even after contacting TomTom customer service I still haven’t been able to get it to work. Their final comment, which made me give up, was that I don’t need them to pair/connect to use the device! Pretty poor customer service really as that was a feature advertised that I liked! Overall though - as a sat nav for HGV - I still like it, has always-so far- taken me the right way to the right place! It does have its moments when it’ll route you a really long way around so I always check the route before I get going but this has usually been sorted by cancelling the route and searching again
I’ve been using it for 6 months now and - despite the rate occasional hiccup- it has not done me wrong! It’s always worth looking at the route and zooming in to make sure it’s the best route though! I travel to London a lot and it does try to take me off M25 at J2 and through towns when 1a and main roads is better. I’m happy with it overall though, great bit of HGV kit
@@pascaltureau6037 most of the time I’d agree but they did answer a query I had about my TomTom not connecting to my iPhone - wasn’t the answer I wanted but I know why I can’t connect at least
Way I do it is to plan journey then once its live click three dots on right hand side and search for next post code then keep doing that until all are in then you can choose the order you want to put them in in your route.
@@gareth838 it probably would do…it has settings allowing you to enter vehicle height, width, weight etc so should do just fine. Not sure if it will select bus only routes though - would have to check on TomTom website for that. Maybe they do a coach specific nav??
