From 1980, here's Anacani on the Lawrence Welk Show singing "Amapola" which was made famous by the Jimmy Dorsey Orchestra and sung by Bob Eberly and Helen O' Connell
Forced to watch with my aunt and uncle, Lawrence Welk every Saturday night during the 1950's. Seeing and listening Anacani made me a Lawrence Welk fan overnight.
I was tied up & put in the back seat of my Hollywood Ca Granffather's 1947 Dodge if I complained, 'Well perhaps, I'm exaggerating a tad... 'Lawrence did play in the Santa Monica Ca area for a while & locally at the Hollywood Palladium for quite a spell & the Lovely Lennon Sisters were very talented along with Lawrence's Champagne Lady's

Was thinking about her the other date, the times when my kids were little, always like her voice and beauty. Looking for a crochet video, found her, very happy!!!
Hello Jackie from an 82 year old English lad 6 thousand miles away. I sincerely appreciate the kindness of your reply. The lovely lady and lovely music is more than sufficient to rekindle happy memories of times past.
Amapola is indeed such a beautiful song recorded by vocalists & musicians in just about every country in the world... As an audiophile, I probably have 10-15 arrangements & recordings of it
when I was a kid and went to my Grandparents house on Saturday nights, I always remember Lawrence Welk in the background as we played. Took it for granted then, but some fine music on that show. from Chris Westrick
She sings another version of this song in the "Salute to Big Bands" show, and behind her are two percussionists, and everyone is dressed in red. Oh my!
I understood every word. Several years of high school and college Spanish, plus living in California all my life. However, you can Google the title and the words are printed there.
Please, listen to Gigliola Cinquetti interpretations... she sings a lot of Latin Songs like Amapola, La Spagnola, Tango delle Capinere, Tipi Tipitin, Dios come Te amo... and also Pennsylvania Polka, Le Bateau Mouche, Primavera, Alle Porte del Sole, etc... Enjoy :)
Damn, she's so lovely she can make even a ugly dress like that look good, and her voice is to die for. Mr. Welk likes to take advantage of his office and get a dance with her as often a possible, I don't blames him, I would too.
