A life touched by much sorrow and cruelty… who in turn touched so many with love and evil. You can see so many paths that could have turned it around, yet know it couldn’t end any other way. That is the best of tragedy and redemption in its turn.

A supremely bittersweet little rearrangement. The fear of the lost boy, and the pain of the man who lost. I feel that was his biggest flaw, and his redeeming grace. He never let go of love, but it left him vulnerable to grief. He loved dearly, his mother, his teacher, his student, his wife… one by one they fell away when he needed them to stay. And in desperation he turned, and lost what he had left. But he never let go of love… it tormented him for years. Love twisted to hate, to grief, to abandonment… but never forgetting that kept that spark, the one that reignited the fire of love even as it burned him to ash.
