Love that you kept it to 8 steps (equal to DFAM limit). It’s easily 4x DFAM, but with locks, you can factor that up even more! (Former DFAM owner, now using Rytm MK2 and DTone)

I have a feeling the A4/AK, with their Swedish seqs can do a lot more that the DFAM/Edge, but the Edge seems fun, makes great tones, has (inter-)patching and motions sequence, idiosyncratic limits and talents of its own seq

Are u sound locking multiple beat sounds per track? My 2nd synth was a Wavestation in the 90's & I invested nowadays into Elektrons to make music with them in ways they also wavesequence in a very special way.
Put about 20 or so percussion based patches u can dig up just via the preset patches of sounds in the A4's sound banks... & add them to the sound pool of the program u are currently working in on the A4... Then try to use 4-6 different drum sound patches on each of the 4 tracks of it. U can with a bit of skill & experimenting, then craft a complete wavesequencing style beat to play on just one single track of the A4... Or any of the 2nd generation Elektrons too, the Monomachine & Machinedrum don't feature sound locking... But everything that's a instrument & groovebox they have released since, are gen 2 Elektrons & it's a major feature of them all to now include Sound Locks. The A4 & Rytm seem to hit a limit on how many Parameter or trig locks they can allow u to program in. More so than the limits of the amount u can use on things with those 2 Elektrons, than I've found otherwise for programming Parameters or trig locks on things using the Digitone, Digitakt or Syntakt is what I've figured out in use myself anyway? But if u start to use more sound locks, instead of multiple parameter/trig locks in a track & sequence instead. It totally frees up the sounds & sequences of the parameter locking acrobatics, or eventual limits of there use in manipulation of a tracks sound & sequence. U can then have multiple different sounds on different steps in a sequence via sound locking... & then have plenty of parameter locking available still to tweak the sound locked steps & sounds within each track there after. I often start with one sound per track, & when I'm happy with it... I save it, then load it into the sound pool & I'll sound lock it to the initial steps I've started a sequence with on a single track... But the after I've Sound locked it to those steps, the become the 1st sound that is now locked too & always fixed to play on those certain steps. Then I add some extra steps in the sequence of that 1 track... & I can begin to tweak or load in another different sound on the same track again as the 2nd sound now also in the same track & sequence. But my tweaking or choosing of that next sound only changes the new sound on the new steps u add in for it. The original sound has been locked to the original steps u begin with. I usually like to use at least 2 sounds or up to 8 or more sometimes within just a single track. & I commonly use that approach with any of the Elektron boxes I'm programming too... Sometimes I just parameter lock the he'll out of a single sound patch on a track with them too. But I'll usually do more sound lock tracks overall, & have a good 1-3 tracks l, depending on which Elektrons I'm using at the time... That I'll want to just keep a single patch on it the parameter lock in some bonkers way as well. Peace to ya tho & lock on my fellow Elektronauter
great stuff! sick seq. have you tried the analog rytm? it seems like it is a great industrial groovebox.... still i think that the A4's deepness in design is probably its best strength
Thank you! I never tried the RYTM, but I got the Syntakt (which has four tracks RYTM inside and even can do square waves now since a recent update - actually a major reason I chose A4 over RYTM: no square waves!) and I love it ;)
@@CatenationIndustrial would love to see how you would use plocking comp and distortion values inside that machine. But yeah i get it.... No analog square wave is a bummer for sure. Got to use them waveform samples
