To have both versions installed you can rename the new vst3 file. For example instead of "fetish.vst3" rename it to"fetish_5.vst3". Inside the the DAW however they will both have the same name, You'll just get used to which is which. I have both Fetish4 and 5 installed, and to be honest, the older (4) on drums, is much, much punchier! It is a night and day difference.

The CLA blue stripe was modeled after one of CLA's blue stripes that was modded and actually have a slower attack. But yeah The AO one sounds more like a real comp for sure.. I'll give it a try after watching this video. Hard to find any ITB compressors hat actually sound like real compressors.. Thanks for the vid..
Now we finally got used to the hardware knob coding and all the emulations and now we have to rethink again? I think it should have stuck with the original knob settings. Some engineers reach out blindly to this. They can't with this GUI. Another thing I think is that you have to compare it with great plugin compressors and not too those age old thin and brittle sounding Waves stuff ;) For example the DMG 1176 models in Trackcomp2, or the Purple or the one from Arturia or the one from Black Rooster or the new one from Pulsar (is an 1178).
I bought and paid for an 1176 emulation. I then downloaded the AO Fetish... and use that exclusively. AO Fetish... I can hear my German friends snickering. :)
have you tried any of arturias compressor? the ones that come with the 3 compressors pack have the input and output knobs linked so when you turn up the input the output gets turned down at the same time.
I have and the AO Fetish beats it with oversampling engaged or not engaged. They use about the same CPU usage (overall) but the Arturia FET-76 take up a much more significant amount of space on a hard drive versus the drag and drop AO plugin. So hard to believe, time and time again, that his plugs are free. This is also why I recommend that with every plug-in you buy, that you demo them First against analog obsession if it is hardware modeled plugins. Analog Obsession, will often win or give them an insane run for their money. I hope this helps you out.
I didn't look at the Fetish, but I've compared the other compressors; LALA to Britpresser to Buster SE, I like the Buster and Britpresser, but how do you think these compare with the Fetish
you can install the old one , then taken all dll and vst3 files , put it on desktop than rename them ( just add 1 to the end ) then install the new one !
I think you're overlooking one HUGE aspect of the sound, that seemingly all AO compressors, including this one, get wrong: the high end. This has been pointed out by some, but I can't believe more people aren't hearing this...maybe blinded by the fact that AO can generously be obtained for free. Can't you hear (perhaps use headphones) how the Waves plugin keeps some amount of 3D depth by still having some air up top (not as much air as real hardware but at least some) while FETISH completely dulls it? Listen to the drum bus part through FETISH via headphones, it sounds almost like it's in a bucket? You can try even with apple headphones, because they have a focus on the high end. That to me means that I end up trying the AO stuff, but eventually getting rid of all of it apart from PREBOX. Because they all have this air problem, and it's actually further from what real hardware does than the Waves one. I like the compressor action of them a lot, their SSL emu too, but they sound so plugin-ish and small on the freequency response front.
@@SoundcastStudios I think it's a monitor issue for you, there is no way you can't hear it. Try with simple Apple earbuds, and they will let you focus on the high end. Don't you hear the "bucket"ish sound with the AO, and the air that comes back with the CLA76? You CAN remedy it somewhat by boosting the the air after the AO compressors, with something like Crave EQ, and then it's actually a pretty cool compressor...the old version of FETISH that is. Another test you should do for fun, is to compare the earlier version of FETISH with the new one. The earlier version for some reason sounds a lot better at the same gain reduction level, while the latest version has a very cramped, over pluggy sound to it. So I'd suggest you go with the version of fetish with the simple design, before he messed with the compression action. That one (if we look past the air issue) is actually a first class plugin when judged purely on it's dynamics. (I did carefully level match A/Bing).

@@blackswanaudiostudios3947 I certainly hear what you're talking about in this demonstration. But in my own tests, the CLA is actually the one that changes the tone towards the midrange more than the FETISH, which is brighter in my tests. FETISH just needs some SC HPF to get into the zone that CLA is in. If either one has a slightly band-limited boxtone, it's the CLA, this example not withstanding. It's also compressing less, or with fewer artifacts in this example. So in my opinion, no boxtone issues with FETISH (new or previous version). Arturia's 1176 has an obvious darkness to it--has a dip around 6k or so. Very audible, but still nice on most things and good action. Of course HW will beat them all. But FETISH does seem much more capable (than CLA) of applying aggression to sounds, and the interface makes it much easier to shape and direct that aggression. CLA just starts getting jumpy and erratic when you try to make it do more aggression than it's doing. It doesn't actually get more aggressive. And it's not that both aren't useful. But I do prefer the FETISH most of the time.
it's hard to say but it doesn't feel like it does. comparing the gain reduction to other 1176 plugins is hard cause as you increase the gain reduction it's also increasing the loudness.
@@SoundcastStudios That's what I figured, as I couldn't find any conclusive data out there about it. It just crossed my mind because I recently modded my copy of BUSTERse to notate the more properish GR. However, at least to my ears this plug-in hasn't failed me yet comparing to others.
