Your encoders seem like they're in bad condition, I reached out to elektron a few months ago once I got a mk1 rytm and asked if they had extra and they hooked me up with original replacements (approx $4 per encoder) for my mk1 octatrack and rytm and I repaired them myself. I recommend it if you yourself can/have a soldering friend who can replace them for you. My encoders on both machines work like brand new now.
Yeah same - I love the more compact and sturdy form factor, and I don’t need the sampling features. I think the Octatrack was complex enough to warrant an MKII, but not the Rytm.
I have been using mine pretty much every day for 9 years, and the first thing I immediately noticed after this update and the calibration, was the improvement in sound quality and the reverb/delay. I was shocked that Elektron has done this important update to the mk1. Other companies will never do something like this. No wonder why elektron has not come out with anything new; however, they keep selling and selling. A true example of loyalty and appreciation to their customers 🤙🏼
Just checked in Overbridge and hi-res sample start and end does actually work on MK1! I guess there was just no way to show it on the MK1 screen. Turning the knob normally adjusts in decimals, and pressing the knob and turning adjusts by an integer. Screen recording here -ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-d2ArVFGdY1w.html
Ya, I upgraded when it came out, and I like having a mini Digitakt built in, but I like the mk1 size and aesthetic more. I don’t really finger drum or use the extra performance buttons, so its a mixed bag
I'm not big on gas and all it's pitfalls, I keep things forever and don't buy new unless I truly find a reason and a need that I don't have. That being said🙃 if there's ONE PERSON that I would assume has the MkII- it's Mr ezbot lol😋 I can't wait to go update and I can't wait to watch this! Edit: as a darkness dwelling ratboy, i really appreciate being able to change the led brightness🙏
im still rocking my og mk1 rytm and a4 . the screens are kinda sucky and the a4 one almost died but came back to life , but their form factor is nice and they have this charm
bro stick some nd filter foil on to that screen. helped me to work with that machine in the dark. did the same to my analogue four. if its still too bright just stick another layer of foil on it ;)
Any tips on Sidechain. Tried to get the side chain to work but for some reason only works with the LFO set to HLD that doesn’t seem to make sense. If on ONE it appears the trigger on all trigs even if LFO is off. Anyone else found this?
What if you update without proceed to calibration? I am ok if it just has a weird tuning. I am afraid the calibration will mess up my previous tonal patterns.
someone checked with overbridge and the mk1 does move sample points at high res. there is just no visual feedback on the lcd screen though. also with the sample you chose it would be very hard(impossible?) to hear fine movement of start points @@EZBOT_
ok, brilliant, thank you! With all this biz touching on the 1.7 update, and two local guys selling their mk1 Rtfms... and there ya go... "sitôt qu'on le touche, il résonne"
That's so interesting that it also works for the Mk1. Is this some kind of record for the oldest device firmware upgrade?! Have you noticed any strange features that don't quite match up due to differences on the buttons available, or screen difference etc?
Proud owner/user of A4 AK AR OT MK 1 here. Thanks for the emphasis on the og AR. I very much prefer their look and feel to the mk2's. I'm starting to think it's the NES color way that really hits home on a subconscious level. 😅
Side note... My AK was fitted with a screen adjustment knob mod that changes the contrast of the screen so you can see it from any angle. The original owner works for soma and did the mod himself so I'm not sure if it's a readily available mod but it does exist and is very helpful!
