Scammers have shown up guys. Do NOT send anyone money who is claiming to be me. I will NEVER ask you for money. Period. I don’t use Telegram or Discord or WhatsApp. See the grey outline behind my name? That’s how you know it’s me. Do not respond to them…. Unless you are bored and want to mess with them and waste their time of course 😈
“Magic Phrase” I just ordered the very same wireless system yesterday. Got asked to do a one off, fill in karaoke gig. Thought it would be nice for the singers to have wireless mics. “Yes I’m going in the hole, but that’s the way I roll”. I can return my order. Scott, I have sent quite a few people to your channel from ST3 users Facebook page. Keep up the great work, you are appreciated.
Hey Scott, another great and clear video. We use the wireless EW-D and Shure GLXD6+ as a portable set. We love them. Never had an issue with it. We skip the raffle as we have already the EW-D wireless mics.
Magic phrase "magic phrase" I have been using senn EW-300 for some years now. Never knew the difference between digital and analog. Interesting stuff. Maybe in the future I'll sell mine and bump up to something else.
Love the video ! Your content helps so much, I can think of a bunch of “magic phrases” that you have said about wireless, but the one magic phrase that always sticks with me is “scan for a clear channel”
Thanks for all your videos. Best on RU-vid for a lot of stuff. Especially gear reviews and your ST3 tutorials. I guess this is the Magic Phrase portion on my comment.
I watch your videos even for gear I don't have or plan to get, because they are so full of useful information, and thoughtfully presented. The story of ACDC preferring Wireless instead of wired guitar cables was an eye opener. It's true that guitar cable materials/treatment, and length affect tone to some degree. It makes me wonder what is the frequency range and dynamic range of an wire/analog guitar cable vs wireless? That would make for a VERY interesting video. Thanks again for all the great videos you make. I can always count on learning something useful from them! 👍
Surprised that a broadcast outfit hasn't come calling. You presented that quite well and broadcasters can use that knowledge for sporting and other large media events. After seeing what one of the major networks had for audio on a sporting event, they could use the technical help. BTW: In a past life I was the Director of Engineering for a CBS O&O. Retired now but still play and run a live capture service.
I remember older digital wireless systems not quite competing with analog in one spec: range. Of course, if you weren't using wireless IEMs, you'd be fighting against the 1/4 second delay of sound through air at 250 feet from speakers with either option, if you wanted to stretch it. I remember testing transmitter range in a larger room. It got to a point where I had to watch the drummer to keep correct time, because the audio from mains was drastically behind by the time I heard it. Again, with IEMs, not a problem at all.
I've been in the Music Industry for longer than most other folks in music have been alive. Let's just say more than half a century. I've learned more about gear from your channel over the the last few years without having used the MAGIC PHRASE, "Subscribe, Like and Share". That is until today! You seem to always be able to clear up the questions I have about entry level gear all the way up to Pro Level gear. Great job and THANKS!
Magic Phrase. Thanks again for another great video! Filled in some holes in my knowledge, such as not realizing analog had zero latency. Gotta find a way to check out those digital IEMs! 🎉
When I was younger, my mother and grandmother used to say, what’s the magic phrase? And I would immediately say thank you 😂😂😂 I truly appreciate the content. Thanks for sharing.
Well, I have a really hard time understanding such specific things in English and I had to stop again and again, but the video was extremely good. Thank you
@@ScottUhlMusic yep, we're using 3 sets of wireless IEMs from 2 different manufacturers (analog) and both analog and digital guitar/bass wireless systems. Everything plays well together.
Magic phrase is funny. Thanks for the great advice you put out. Because of your content. I finally figured out why my wireless unit for my guitar was cutting out. Same frequency as my wifi.
Thank You for all the information you provide, both surface and iceberg levels. Having a source of quality information I can learn from is definitely helpful in decision making. Magic Phrase : a unique combination of linguistics that unlocks particular benefits, or access to desired places/benefits. Synonymous with "Pass Word" or "Pass Code"
Thank you for your videos. I’m retired and now helping my young son get on his feet with his band. I’ve always embraced technology but it can be overwhelming to learn so much at once. Thank you for making it easier to understand….a 61 yr old Rookie Roadie 😂 Magic Phrase !
Nice! Yeah I’ve used it for wedding DJ stuff. It works great! Just always maintain line of sight. So many people will sound check, go “it sounds good” and then a bunch of people show up for the ceremony and they sit right between the transmitter and receiver. That’s true for any wireless 🤘
Your videos are so helpful. Started having issues with my Line 6 G50, Trying to find a replacement and your stuff has been super helpful. MAGIG PHRASE!!!
Thanks for the info! You seem to come up with answers/topics that I didn't know I needed educating on. Magic phrase is thr gateway to knowledge. Cheers from the PNW!
This was ridiculously informative (as all of your videos are), and I have to admit, it all makes sense after the fact, but the results were not what I was expecting going in. Today's magic phrase is: "Thanks for sharing, Scott!"
Magic Phrase! I know most of the content you explain just from working with gear for a very long time on shows etc. I just cannot explain it the way you do. Excellent work! Glad you have this channel!
With every vid that you do, I learn more about this stuff that I really don't know enough about. Thank you. I"ll put the Magic Phrase thing in, but I watch your stuff for the knowledge. Good Job!
I use slxd mics and belt packs and from the mixer to the pa speaker use one xvive transmitter to two xvive receivers and don’t feel noticeable latency. Magic phrase
Very helpful! You make complex gear seem simple. I like how you present the facts and back it up with personal experiences. Thank you!! The magic phrase is a nice twist, as music is where magic is made.
Thank you is the magic phrase of the day! Appreciate you Mr. Scott for your breakdown of spectral efficiency in a simple understanding way. Keep'em coming! Having trouble with the rules... Ask Scott Uhl 😉
Magic Phrase! I watch many of your videos and have a set of Phenyx PTU7000, two mics start dropping, and thinking should I go with the PTU2 or just step up to Shure QLX and hope for worry-free. Mainly for weddings and Karaoke.
PTU will be an upgrade for sure…. But if you can afford upgrading to the SLXD dual system, it’s worth it (SLXD is the level below QLXD, but it comes in a dual receiver setup. The QLXD is only single). Slxd is great!
Thanks for your contribution to what I and I am sure a lot of other people call the University of RU-vid. Thank you for your timeless contribution is the "Magic Phrase" means a lot to a Haitian
MAGIC PHRASE? What could be the MAGIC PHRASE? Easy enough, MAGIC PHRASE. I've tried using the MAGIC PHRASE before but I never thought MAGIC PHRASE would be the MAGIC PHRASE. Seriously, I just realized somehow that I was already a subscriber. I saw this post when it was 7 hours old and after waking up watched it again. Yesterday when I was listening as I was working. As I drove, I would stop, rewind and watch sections learning. I watched your NAMM video, the making backing tracks video and how you use backing tracks. They were all MAGICal PHRASE's in each video. Dude, I'm 61 and have learned more in the last 36 hours about the new equipment out and backing tracs. Thanks for your post! And the MAGIC PHRASE!😅
Very informative video. We are trying to install in ear monitors at Church, and I am running into so many problems. But this video should help me out with the math and things like that. I’m thinking the problems are coming from using too many different brands of systems, or that maybe Shure and ld systems really don’t like each other. Because one works without the other. I may look into a digital in ear system to clear things up.
Digital IEMs are hard to find except for Lectrosonics, which are fantastic if you have the budget for them. Likely it’s more coming from one of these 5 mistakes: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Xgw96rY4TAc.htmlsi=eKafsMj9qepu8KDR
What’s is the “magic phrase”? love the vid btw, really helps with decision making on what systems to buy per application, your videos are awesome. Thanks for the information, greatly appreciated Scott Uhl
Hahaha, it takes longer to figure out how I’m going to word it for a video I feel like 😂 I change the way I’m going to word it like 10 times during a video to what I think makes the most sense
Hey Scott I started building and IEM rig this past December I’ve been looking at all your videos since haha the only thing I need left is my digital mixer and a P16 patchbay. Thinking about using the Allen Heath cq-20b. Let me know what you think. thanks for your helpful videos man and can’t forget THE “MAGIC PHRASE”
I got to mess with the Allen and Heath a little at NAMM. It’s pretty nice. I’ve used the behringer x32r and xr18 for forever, so I know them better. All of them are good!
Thank you so much for sharing this, this is the first time I heard about wireless system have a category of analog and digital, before that I thought all of them is digital, only cable is analog😂
Nope. Analog wireless essentially superimposes your audio signal on top of the carrier frequently. Analog chops your audio into 1s and 0s, and sends them across the airwaves.
Yep, Angus’ Cetec/Vega wireless rig had a signal booster in it. Some company recently came out with that boost circuit in a stand alone box, kind of like the EP booster is the preamp section of the EchoPlex. 😏
This taught me so much. I had already assumed digital was better but this solidified my research and suspicions. The Magic Phrase for me is "aren't you glad you bought digital wireless?"
Definitely! As much as I love my current portable sennheiser, I did just get sent a portable slxd system (video coming soon). That will likely be my new portable one! Both are great though, but digital is just so nice!
The Magic Phrase is not missing a Scott Uhi vid. It’s been a journey in buying wireless gear. Made some good and bad decisions… and learned a lot in the process. Living in the digital world, I do keep latency in mind. I wanted to have my IEM mix to have lowest latency coming from a digital mixer. I was influenced by one of your vids, and got a Senn G4 IEM system. For bass, I went digital with the Senn EW-D Cl1 at 1.9ms… which is great for a digital wireless system. I wanted it low since I also use a digital HX stomp… also influenced by you… haha. Do I still qualify for the giveaway?😅
