Ridiculously impressive tour, any audio hobbyists who were not completely in love with Audio Research before would definitely be excited after seeing this. I hope your hosts were well pleased!

Great tour Michael. I visited them about 25 years ago when they were still on Shingle Creek Parkway, and to be honest, it all still looks very much the same. Love the archive collection, having owned quite a few of those pieces over the years. i didn't see a FM tuner, another piece I once owned. It was really just a modified Dyna FM3. If you go to the tuner page on the ARCDB website, most of the pictures in there are of the one I had.

Out of all of the audio gear I have owned, my AR equipment is the only equipment I regret selling. Lovely stuff.

Never swallowed there Kool-aid, but enjoyed the tour. The stuffing, soldering and past model repository were especially enjoyable.

I used to repair Audio Research equipment when I worked is stereo stores. I was a bit upset when I heard Leonard retired. He knew the parts well. I would have like to have replaced him. But I own several old Audio Research pieces That I want to keep going. (SP2,SP6,D50,D90)

Very timely. My amplifier is being repaired by Audio Research as I watch this video. Regardless of the naysayers, Audio Research is a high quality incredible product. I judge electronics by how they sound to my ears. After hearing the sound, I will purchase more ARC products in the future. Used of course. My budget won't allow new. Thanks for the tour.

Thanks Mike for this video! ARC have always been my dream components (but always just a bit out of my grasp, price-wise) ever since I started reading HP back in the early days of Absolute Sound. It's great to see there are still artisans and ordinary people still dedicated to perfection even in the 21st Century.

Nice behind-the-scenes of a great company. However, for the purpose of showing a video, the first thing you should learn is how to hold the camera sturdy. That's "Basic Film 101!" I wonder how many other viewers got motion sickness due to the fact that you could not hold the camera sturdy without panning all over the place. "Shaky Cam."

I really enjoyed this. As an accountant I now see why these things cost what they do. Made in America is great.

Wow a lot less in-house than McIntosh. I took the Mac tour and they were winding their own transformers, doing their own metalwork, cutting their own faceplates and so on. I heard those Sonus Faber Aida's on a Mac system though and it was in my top 5 systems I ever heard and I get to a lot of the shows like you. The Ref 6 preamp is intriguing me at the moment, since the DartZeel is still a touch out of my price range. Warren's got a killer beard!

I have a D115 MkII that I'm repairing. I'd love to get access to that stockroom of obsolete parts.... And maybe acquire enough parts to build a brand new SP-9. I'd also bring a wheelbarrow to help myself to a transformer or two, or four, or six, or ten...not to mention a few tubes....

They pay homage to the electronics themselves, how totally cool is that 👍👏😎

And in their listening test room they have Magnepans which Stereophile will not write about and I just happen to own....perfect!

I am sure I have read about Magnepan in Stereophile. I and have bought four pairs over the years & own 3 pair now, mated these days with McIntosh amplification and a variety of analog and digital front ends.

Herb Reichert just wrote about the .7's in the current (Dec. 2016) issue as part of his review on the Pass INT-60. [ Full disclosure: I don't subscribe, so I don't know your complete context. I DO subscribe to Absolute sound which DOES review Maggie products frequently. And I do own some as well. ]

Thanks for the video. Pity your question about how they locate the reason for a problem once Warren notices it wasn't answered.

I understand that the changing of the specifications in parts produced in China (to save money) is a major problem for manufacturers who source components from the world's factory -- I'm surprised ARC took the risk.

Would be interesting to know Warren's history with ARC, He's been there since before WZJ died, so wonder if Johnson trusted WG's ears to that degree back then too, or whether WZJ always had the final say. Or maybe WG "tuned" himself on what WZJ heard and sought. I'd like to know. Either way, he (both) is (are) gifted.

owned many tube and SS amps+preamps---audio research is one of the top 10 companies. naim too. it has the pace I need, its convenient+inexpensive+ easy to find used. thevintage marantz 8b was the best tube amp and its the only amp i regret selling. the fisher 500c was vg. the D240 was vg, one of the very best solid state amps and like all AR its super high quality. audible illusions mod 3a was great. Im sure every the audio research reference is the best= amazing, close or maybe better than the Marantz 8b

Mijn SP 10 geeft af en toe een zware brom. Deze duurt even en af en toe lang. Meestal verdwijnt deze brom weer vanzelf. Kunt u mij eventueel vertellen wat de oorzaak is?

Hi, I'm just about to replace all 6 tubes on my Ref 3, so want to re-set the counter. I believe there's a button somewhere to do it, but I can't see it anywhere - anyone have any ideas please?

Audio Research just buys parts. McIntosh hand winds their own transformers and wave solders. Better quality better sound.

I prefer McIntosh, dCS and Accuphase...all of whom don't source ANYTHING from China!

The look is ugly. You guys need to re-design the look. It is so 70s look. Look at other brands, they are way more beautiful.
