Hi Aurore, here is EPICA's latest Live video from a concert earlier this year in Amsterdam, it is one of their older songs, but an incredible new performance EPICA - Unleashed (Live At The AFAS Live)

watchtheskies I love that version! But I do think that for this reactor who is not a a huge death metal fan I am guessing :) a beautiful ballad song like Rivers (live at AFAS) is something she will appreciate more and suits her channel better.... Especially becasue a song like Rivers is more focussed on the singing of Simone. Don't you agree? By the way the Epica's latest live video is not Unleashed but Consign to Oblivion live at AFAS.

Bonjour Aurore, c'était super! Merci bien pour cette analyse. Je vais continuer en anglais car je pense le néerlandais et encore plus difficile pour vous ;) Alors.. what I really liked is how you took the time to point out that this beautiful piece of sacred music doesn't need the wide vibrato and ornamentation ppl usually associate with "classical" singing. That's at least what I deduced based on my rather modest mastery of the French language. On top of that, you pointed out that the Baroque era came with a different understanding of the classical style, which was more about straight notes (and in this song laser-like precision) and in general a style of vocalizing that wasn't aimed to reach all of the audience inside large concert halls. Again, what I could make of your analysis. Correct me if I'm way off here. Of course (cuz acoustics..) Floor and Simone used mics here, which makes perfect sense in this setting. That's why I'd like to submit a video of younger Floor performing a metal song (from her own band, After Forever), acoustically and with a small combo consisting of classical instruments in a live broadcast (no retakes or video re-editing). C'est déjà une tâche sérieuse pour une soprano d'assumer la partie alto, mais Floor est si talentueuse, elle est une soprano spinto, elle peut donc bien chanter diverses notes hautes et basses🎶🎶🤟🏻🤟🏻

Bonjour, il est vrai que le stabat mater n'est pas repris d'une façon puriste. Dans le milieu professionnel lyrique, on dirait qu'il y a des fautes de style... En revanche, une musique est faite pour vivre et elle rencontre beaucoup d'admirateurs ce qui prouve que c'est une réussite. Et quelque part cela permet aussi de faire connaitre le répertoire classique, la musique "savante", à un public qui ne le connait pas. N'est ce pas là une bonne nouvelle ? Je comprends votre point de vu !
