Reimagined classical pieces. People have a memory about what those pieces are meant to sound. If you come up with a different idea, even if it's goddamn brilliant...
@@henriqueccruz it could be the case but, you know... in Sketches of Spain Miles and Gil Evans turned the famous "Concierto de Aranjuez" upside down and critics praised it nonetheless. For me, it's still a mistery. Love the album anyway!
Been listening to a lot of Evans lately but had no idea he made a classical album like this. Will have to check it out, and thanks for posting your analysis!
I love Ogerman. Over the years I’ve learned to recognise his touch almost instantly. But somehow this piece does not convice me. Chopin, it seems, meant it to be dark, heavy, crushing, and funèbre. Yet, Claus gives it his usual romantic, flute heavy slant. Doesn’t work for me. Thank you for your videos, excellent as usual!
Thanks for your comment. It is interesting, the first many times I listened to this track I didn't recognize it as the Chopin Prelude at all, because the mood is so different and transformed.
@@DavidBennettThomas That probably would have been the case with me as well, except that I liked it so much (as everything else by Ogerman) that I took to the piano and quickly figured out the chords. Only then did I recognise the prelude which I used to play. Allow me to thank you once again for your engagement (happily subscribed).
