MANILA, Philippines - A political analyst on Tuesday noted that majority of those running for senator in next year's polls are familiar faces.
Speaking to radio dzMM, Institute for Political and Electoral Reform executive director Ramon Casiple said political parties are relying too much on name recall and popularity in choosing candidates.
He also noted that political parties are only revived during election season but are not as influential afterwards.
"Mahina ang political party system kaya ang umiiral political families or dynasties," he said.
He noted that even the United Nationalist Alliance is not even considered a real opposition since it is still part of the majority coalition.
