The thing is, this track has nothing to do with other beatbox tracks, but it has things that exist for a long time in music and for centuries in poetry; spoken-word, irregular metric varying with what's being said and the intention of the delivery, alternating time signatures, and of course, not so literal and self-descriptive lyrics (which throws me off about many beatbox tracks) That's why i think it divides opinions sometimes Edit: loved it at first, the more i listen, the more i love it, it paints such a surreal and dreamy painting

For me, Codfish sounds really catchy.. This beats always in my minds

Reminds me a bit of recitative in opera-the ‘spoken’ bits that are set in a much more free-flowing style and with less melodic movement, to better match the true rhythms and pitching of speech. The more I hear this piece, the more it grows on me. But the theme is so personal, I think it may resonate with some and not others. It’s basically impenetrable to me 😅.

It gives really classic rock led zeppelin like vibes to me in structure and lyricism. There's quite a lot of depth to those lyrics too. Big fan of the GODFISH and loved the video, keep up the awesome content 💲

Being Australian I’d assume the the reference to a rainbow with wings is in reference to aboriginal culture “the rainbow serpent”. Explains all the references to toads and serpents. Mushrooms, psychedelics and rainbow serpents are all one and the same.

I liked the beatboxing sections, and I really like how Codfish is able to change so smoothy between the different bases. But the lyrics... they didn't make much sense to me. It was nice to hear an analysis by people who are way more experienced in beatboxing than me though. Thanks for the video.

Maybe there are other bands or artists that are better comparisons but this track makes me think of "King Crimson" not necessarily because of the sound of it but the lyrics feel like something they would write.
