The world does not despise Israel, it despises what Israel is doing. If the behaviour changes from spreading destruction to seeking peace and justice through a political process that either implements a 2 state solution or equal rights in the whole territory, then then the attitude of the international community towards Israel will change as well. Israel can (re)gain the respect of the international community. It’s up to them an their choices.

It's not just an any old war, it's a civil war which history shows is far more viciously conducted and the most intractable to resolve because of the nature of the dispute. IMHO although the quarrel is in expressed terms of counter claims over property rights the eternal battle down succeeding generations is the identity of "whom did Mummy (in this case God/Jahweh) love the most?" A truly existential claim amongst siblings despite the disputants having been and are still are perfectly able to survive without any real chance of ever settling tbe issue, however big or small their own share of the family fortune.
