I thought it looked like a test for rigging! (In case someone doesn't know, rigging is like putting muscles and bones to a figure, it helps to animate, but if done incorrectly, it can make the movement look broken, inhuman or just bad)
@@anitaaranceta780 that was my thought too! making sure the rig is set up correctly on the model is an awful experience so having an animation like this speeds that up a bit at least. plus id imagine it works well on clothes too
Yeah, and thats even tho it could have been really easy to just add them in and polish them up. Unfortunately the studio is more focused on making crap 5$ kits than actually improving the base game because of their monetary system.

Same. I kinda get removing many of the romance options for kids, because kids don't flirt, they have crushes at most. But playing with makeup is totally something a little girl would do. (I didn't, but some kids do).
They should have added in childhood crushes. It just seems realy cute how kids can be romantically stupid and wholesome at the same time since they dont fully understand what love is yet or how to approach it. Though i would say that i hope that some day the future, they would do one sided romantic relationships where only one sim has a crush and the other isnt interested.
I think its because kids in sims 4 look like they are around 8 and normally kids dont really get romantic feelings at that age but childhood crushes mod did make it way cuter just making it child age partners (what I mean is, very realistic to if real children dated each other)

I could see it getting icky real quick. From children getting the flirty mood (which basically means "horny" for adults), to a child's crush aging up before them leaving them with a romantic relationship with a teen or even adult
@@Finn_sisjon there's a lot of people who get uncomfortable with children having crushes, especially with other children of the same sex. But if it's done a certain way it can be alright but I guess the Sims team wanted to play it safe. Personally, I don't care about children having crushes, I think it's cute
@@complainer406 yeah, we all know that an adult or teen sim being flirty essentially means they're horny so seeing that with a child would be 😅. But I guess they could have had a different emotion for children though it would probably be too much work for EA
@@baoziday5178 I think they should have a buff called "tummy butterflies" or "they LIKE-LIKE me back!" under the happy moodlet to make things better. That would be so cute honestly. I wish they implemented it. The romance bar could be "budding romance" permanently until they are teens. I wish I learned programming cuz i would do it myself if I could.
The sound test looks like how you react when you have your ears tested at a hospital, giving a sign everytime you hear a sound. My guess it is from an unused feature from the Get to Work doctor's career.
theory on the front flip animation, it might have been used to test animations that change a sims location once the animation ends, making the portal part of the name make a little bit more sense. i don’t know why it’s a front flip though lol, probably just a developer messing around
The baby to toddler aging up by itself is so sad looking 😭😭 I had forgotten it was my sims baby’s birthday and it literally happens to her that interaction and I just felt so bad about it! Poor baby learning to walk by themselves 😭
The Doorbell animation likely doesn't work because it expects a target for the inverse kinematics to be specified, since it can't find one, the animation fails. This is the same for those bed animations, it doesn't know the other sim exists when you force the animation, whereas in the actual game with actual use it would.
Good point for the bed animations, but I don't think that's the case for the doorbell. I tried playing several existing object-related animations with the mod and most of the time their arms don't deform because the lack of any "target" objects like most physical social animations. They'll still act like they're using it properly even though the objects are absent, so I think I still believe that the doorbell animation is just that unfinished.
I love your choice of the Super Smash Bros. Brawl trophy gallery music as background for this. It's like a gallery for the things that *almost* made it into the game.
This was really cool, Abi, thank you for making it! All the scrapped animations for interactions that were in previous games just make me sad. I hope they fix and implement some of them, especially the bed ones.
SUCH a shame they made so many animations but they got scrapped. What an absolute waste! How many times are players complaining about repeated animations and they've had this massive this whole time we had no idea about.
Because EA wanted to rush the game out and make money rather than care for quality. Something which ironically could have made them more. A good quality game has a long shelf life. I can't see anyone wanting to play The Sims 4 in future after a decade of frustration and disappointment, but The Sims 1, 2, and 3 are still being played 24 years after the release of that first game. :-)
@@SevenEllen I still want to play The Sims 4. Even though it's been like 6 years to me, I still find myself playing it for hours... but yeah, I wish they put love in The Sims 4.
Those bed interactions must be modded in someday since we basically got the prerequisites for it already, given the "Relax" Option and the animations for it.
Idk if anyone will see this as I've commented 2 weeks after the upload, but certain animations (like the massage one) will look broken because the animation is trying to find the bone points for the other Sim, for example the animation for bed relaxing massages. This is also why if Sims are too far it'll look like the other Sim is breaking their bones. It'll only properly work if it's in an actual interaction.

it still makes no sense to me, as a person who spends a lot of time reading in bed or laying around looking at my phone, why any sort of relaxing-on-bed related interactions (whether alone or with a partner) weren't included in the game. especially when sims 3 had a ton of them :/
For the standing chess animations, it seems like sims were going to be able to set and unset the table for playing before sitting down in a chair. (I could have sworn these animations were used in the sims 4, but I guess not!) Also the template oneshot/use object looks like the sim is using a Jack-in-the-Box toy, though it could just be something completely different, maybe it was a test animation to test sims picking up and using objects in development.
Honestly, the only reason they don't add them is probably because of bugs and the chance of child/adult romance to show up. Since, that has already come up in some people's plays (rarely and randomly) because of bugs
Adding to the theories regarding the front flip animation -- I think it's a version of the animation they ended up using to have Sims get into boats in Island Living! Because Sims don't climb into the boats like normal people in the game -- they disappear and flip into the boat! So maybe it's related to that? Also, yes, can we please have some of the bed-related romantic interactions in the game, we need more cute romance content (that isn't made by Pancake and MizoriYukii).
animation at 14:58 could be an animation for a meat grinder or wheat mill, as those things use that kind of crank (also kinda looks like they're sharpening a pencil but i dont think it's that)
Lol, the elevator music version of the Smash Bros Brawl theme threw me off so bad. It fits perfectly, but I didn't realize what was in the background until about 1:25.
The test portal animation kind of reminds me of the animation used to enter the entrance to the carnival area from makin magic in the sims one, but with a frontflip
I think why they didn't utilize this cause with the Sims 4 they brought out a whole new engine and system. Some of the animations look like they could've been copied from old games. I noticed in Sims 2 and 3 that they did use the same animation just with a different flare tweak. I think maybe they realize that maybe they can't incorporate copies due to the engine. An old game that I played came out around the Sims 3 era and they just announced a second installment (I know that long wait and the game is actually unplayable unlike the sims 4) they stated that it was so hard trying to incorporate some old animations, codes, and voice lines due to a new engine. they said that engines are more high-tech than before and also that it took a while to get the hang of things with the old animations. They looked like what some of the broken animations looked and said it was so hard to correct them. I believe EA probably had issues and it is believable due to them being an old company that had its huge peak back then. PC companies tend to have more issues like this. Let's hope they bring out new animations like the relaxing and sitting on knees now. This year and last year they seem to bring out stuff that was wanted for so long. It seems they realize they need to push these out if they want to keep their fanbase. Not like a other company franchise that I dealt with💀💀
It's not surprising that there are numerous animations that are missing from the game. Maxis doesn't go above and beyond. They give the bare minimum for the highest price and rely on the moders to fix everything. Major LOL!
The portal animation I think it’s from the kit “decor to the max” there’s wall object that looks like infinite spiral I think they can get sucked in it if they stare at it for long ? And that would be the animation. I THINK. Not 100% sure
The animation at 12:07 is probably just a test to see how the animation rig performs, but I believe that the animation is very similar to some of the animations in the trailers for the Portal games (which were very popular at the time of development), which might be why it's called that!
While it's probably true that the developers could have forgotten to remove things. After watching all of the bugs and disappointed reviews from the customers and the overpriced nature of the game with very little effort put into the game. I have to believe that the stuff was left there because profit means more to the company than the happiness of the customers. It would have cost the company thousands of dollars to pay someone to make the game better and more stable. Maxis' and EA Games' business model is to make billions by giving the least amount of quality and content.
Is it possible to use custom animations for custom interactions if so can you show me a tutorial or find someone who can show a tutorial on how to do it as I couldn’t find any tutorials on the internet. I’m trying to do the Mummy’s Curse death animation in the Sims 4 studio for my mod but it doesn’t seem to work.
I really like the Sims 2 and 3 bed animations, so it's sad to know they were meant to be implemented in the Sims 4 and they are glitchy and incomplete. Sims 4 10th birthday is on September. Will there be an update of those animations to the base game?
