Hi guys! This is a lyric video for the song "A Rumor in St. Petersburg" from the new Broadway musical "Anastasia". (This song is also in the 1997 version but slightly different.)
Fun fact: The line спасибо за слухи (spasibo za slukhi), sung in this song, means "Thanks for the rumors" in Russian. :)
I hope you enjoy it and I will be uploading lyric videos to all the other songs on the cast recording as soon as possible.
I love you and hope you have a supersparklytastic day!!!! :D
Also, the content belongs to Broadway records, the picture is from www.broadwaywo..., and this video was made using Windows Movie Maker.

I really like how similar to the movie version Dimitri sounds, it gives me a massive dose of nostalgia

Raina Pope I know, and Derek Klena really looks like a real-life version of cartoon Dmirtry too! ☺ ~:~

Yeah! Derek Klena’s voice is really similar to Jonathan Dokuchitz (the person who provided the singing voice for the animated Dimitri in the 1997 movie).

The best part of what they changed in the song for the musical is most definitely the maybe-not-so-subtle shade on how crappy Soviet Russia was

Unfortunately, there's a ton of idiots who think that the system in question can still work. Go to any video showcasing music or something relating to that regime and see a mess of Marxist apologists praising it.

Levvy yeah except for the red famine I really don’t get it why they try to spin the narrative we overthrew the government we all live happily ever after not anarchy is a dangerous game They listened to a man who turned out to be a lot worse and another one followed .

@@gracefutrell1912 well serfdom is basically slavery with extra steps and that russia was forced into a the Clusterfuck that is the WW1 then the Antagonization of the Western Empires towards the Russia for being still stuck from being a agricultural society Atleast the Soviet Union make good on Being a backward Country to a Global Superpower in just a Few Decade. But Srly i wish The Nationalist Won instead since Russian Culture was decimated because of the Bolsheviks

Chrono mancer Czar Alexander second was working on social reforms before he got blown up That by people that pave the way for the Soviet Union and he ended serfdom if he hadn’t been killed what would he have done and don’t defend the Soviets I’ve seen museums from other countries and they pretty much pointed out how terrible they were yeah the Soviets were worse .

A great example of how to write sarcasm about and incorperate the harsh conditions of Communist Russia... and also, can we talk about the added love triangle in the musical? Should I be on Team Dmitri or Team Gleb? CURSE YOU MUSICAL FOR TEARING MY HEART BETWEEN TWO SHIPS!

Fun fact: the Russian part of the song means "Thank you for the rumours " in English.

This song is one that always gets me angry. I use it when I need motivation.

hopegirl518 Ashlynn Ha ha that's awesome. 😅 On a side note, some other musical theatre songs I think are good for anger/motivation are the Mama Who Bore Me Reprise from Spring Awakening, Just You Wait from My Fair Lady, and Nobody's on Nobody's Side from Chess. Just in case you wanted to know. 😂 ~:~

Hm some of the changes made to the peak notes are a bit off putting, but overall I kinda like the verse changes.

Why do they pronounce her name like the singer Anastacia? I'm no Russian but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be Anastasia pronouncing the actual s and i and a individually, no? It caught me off guard because they make it sound like an American name but it isn't at all O.o
@harshmnr
@harshmnr 6 лет назад
Phelie315 Yeah I know what you mean. But I guess it's just because they're saying it for English-speaking people to understand and the rest of the song is in English, so it's like the "English way" of pronouncing it so the whole thing flows better. Although they do pronounce "Vlad" more "Russian-like" in this version, so who knows? :/ ~:~

Historically speaking according to my friend pavel whos russian born. And has lived there his whole life. Its Anastashia" not anastazia. How they pronounced it. Also Vlad is normally pronounced as it was. Vlod as they are saying is usually only due to thick accents. My friends uncle is named vladimir. One that ticked me off is how they pronounced their last names.

These voices don't have half the personality as the ones in the movie. Even the chorus solo spots were more fun to listen to.
