Thank you for taking time to do this. I think it's always better for people to see the real thing. Graphic representation is okay but just not the same.

It's very helpful for all technician and even beginning electricians. Great instruction in the electrical wiring phase. Thank you.

I realize this video is 2 years old but if you haven't done so in other videos, I'd highly recommend the use of a non conductive item to use as a pointer in stead of your finger. Just a safety thing.

Thanks JoeWeber4537! It's a good idea. In the video I did state that I'm keeping my fingers about 3" away from any of the 'hot' components. And, over the past 17 years I've poked around in probably 10,000 electrical panels, and I've never been shocked... yet! I plan to keep it that way! Thanks for your concern.

Great video, thank you! I just have a question: Where is the bonding jumper? I’m sure it is in there but I don’t know what it looks like 😅

I believe what you're asking about is what I called the "ground strap" in the video. Navigate to the 8 minute mark. I begin disusing it there.

Is it a GE panel with one SquareD breaker in it?

Great information ℹ️ I appreciate it. Also I saw a 100 amp breaker that feeds a shop I’m thinking a sub panel. If you have a video of it post a link. If you don’t you can make a video of a sub panel. I enjoyed watching the video. 😎

What is the main panel capacity? How to read it?

You were making me nervous how close you were getting to those lugs

Yes, you have to be careful! Touch the wrong thing in an electrical panel and you could wind up dead. I've inspected thousands of electrical panels and know what I can touch and what I can't.

Why 4 main breakers?
@martinnewmark2716
@martinnewmark2716 9 месяцев назад
In order to have 220 (240) volt service you need two (110 volt) hot legs. The current in these legs alternate back and forth between +110 volts and -110 volts. The electricity in the legs is 'out of phase' so that when one is +110 the other is -110. This is how you get 220 volts. That is why there are at least 2 main breakers in every modern home. In this panel there are four because there are two for one leg and two for the other leg. This is likely because each breaker is only capable of carrying half of the maximum current that the panel can carry. This panel is rated for 150 amps. So each of the 2 breakers on the legs can carry 75 amps. Add these together and you get 150 amps. Note that 2 of the breakers will be 'in phase' with each other and the other two will be 'out of phase' with the other two in order to provide 150 amps at 220 volts. I hope that helps.

Hey ive got a horable power leek a wantabe electrician did something when he ran a extrea wire to the master bedroom , heres my clues the breaker itself looks like it had been pried open and hooked into a 2 slot breaker the damaged one , then on the 2 slot resurved for the hotwater heater has a white wire hooked into the 2 slot breaker 'hwh' witchs trips often last thing that looks hooky is a black wire of some size 1/4 size of main is cut off exspoised sitting there coming out the same place as the main!. Ive been a traidsman for over 20 yrs this doesnt look rite please help i can send pics if needed
