Welcome Mikey! What should this jazzy dude share with you next? Let him know your feedback! Note: There is a fix out now for the cardinal snapping on the joysticks. Additionally, we are hearing reports some units are still going out with light bleed, while this was not a review unit, and does not have light bleed, it is ridiculous and disappointing to hear that any units are still going out in that condition. We have reached out to our Anbernic contact for clarity.
@@JosephTheRocker😂 Stubbs had a big part in helping me edit. Definitely still finding my groove, so stick around as I will eventually be lvl 16 and evolve into a Charmeleon.
Love the Cube and loved the video❤ In case anyone wants to load their games in the Anbernic launcher: You have to select a console and then press Select. That way you'll get to another menu, in which you can select "Rom Settings". In there you can add another path to find your roms.
Welcome Mikey! that was a solid review, unique and well detailed! the Cube is indeed beautiful in every way, easy to carry with convenience (gotta love how tiny it is), T820 packs loads of power and is gonna pull you through most emulators with ease. The screen may be 1:1 but is subjective to most of us who are in need of a fine device to run DS/3DS and other emulators (I'd say this makes a fine machine for higher end turn-based rpgs) Cheers to the RH team and welcome again, Mikey! (love how you're a musician like Stubbs) ♥️
@@MikeySaxMusic You're welcome, and of course, you did amazing! I've been re-playing the Megaman Zero series. I've been using my RG35XXSP with Knulli. I love my SP, and the other handhelds I own. Gotta say, the RG35XXSP was very pocketable with the case as I've been carrying around as of recent ♥️
One month later i traded it to rg556, turns out i got more screen real estate when playing 1:1 on snes since i got 4.3 inch on screen on rg556, i thought im getting morenwith rgcube, only thing i missed is the formfactor tho, fits better on my smaller bags too
OMG listening to the Pictionary music has sent me down a rabbit hole of finding more of Tim Follin's music, NES Solstice is also great. Great review by the way, i'm waiting for my RG cube to arrive in the next couple of days hopefully.
The problem i have with this device was the screen. The odd shape of the screen is good for vertical shooting up games, but for 4.3 games, you lose a bit of screen in left and right.
@@dean_dv unfortunately not an official patch, does require the bootloader unlock. Search "RG556 and RG-CUBE Analog cardinal snapping and sensitivity fix"

Man even though I have the Odin 2, this form factor is tempting. Also, you can set audio to turn off during fast forward in the audio portion of RetroArch, then save the override in quick options.
@@retrohandhelds not just the early batches, people are getting new devices now which have light bleed and with the high price it's ridiculous we have to rely on a return policy since Anbernic don't have a QA process.
@@dean_dv This is important to note, thank you! I will relay this to our Anbernic contact, that is RIDICULOUS to hear its still happening after all the kerfuffles.
Wow you straight ripped that alto sax as former trumpet player who loved playing Charlie Parker songs from my bootleg fake book your intro just brought me back. Insta sub
Really enjoyed Ship of Harkinian for Android on it, plus 3ds emulation of Metroid Samus Returns. 3ds emulation on it with the default overlay is really really good and surprised me.
@@MikeySaxMusic I've really enjoyed Mario Kart 7 and Metroid Samus Returns. They run amazing and the shared screen on the bottom is very easy to use, and not frequently used.
My personal best too. I don't boot the MiyooM+ anymore (in fact I offered it to a friend), nor the RGB30s which I loved. Why should I? RG CUBE = Small enough for any trips + All retro + 3DS ( amazing 1:1 display for that) + Psp/2...ect + Android games and Apps (yt, ect..). Combine it with the Daijisho frontend and you've got a killer. The never ending chase for a greater handheld is over for me...for now at least😊. Well I'm actually about to receive the MiyooA30, but that's for it to be pocketed at all time. It's like needing toilets, you never know when a crave for a retro session will show up😅
I would love that. I use Daijisho on other devices, but man is it a pain to initially setup. I like using RetroArch as my frontend. When it’s really dialed in, it’s like being home. And that home is retro video games.
@@MikeySaxMusic I feel that - I would suggest ES - DE as it offers thumbnails, titles, manuals, and gameplay videos for all systems. It's definitely worth it and runs retroarch for the retro systems so it's more like a home with a finished basement ya dig 🎃
Zu has started three times now and the OS got an update on his second day of production all three times. He said he's just going to barrel through 0.7 and hope there aren't any major changes to installation or setup.
@@MikeySaxMusic watched Russ' video and finally figured it out. You can actually drag from top of screen to a setting called desktop mode and then use the touchscreen to point to your app on an external display and it'll launch in 16:9. That way you can get full use of your screen without the 1:1 limitation. I seriously stopped using the cube solely due to not understanding this the first time and I'm going to clone the SD card from my Odin 2 and start playing more of the cube on TV to seamlessly play as a console and carry device.
@@Pridetoons Very understandable answer! I myself have at least 11 handhelds I like equally. They are my most favorite as well. LG G-Pad5, Steam Deck,405V, Max 2, X55, 351V, 300X, 28XX, B20SX, 280V, GPD XD Plus.
Love the look of this device, but until Anbernic fixes the joysticks (not custom firmware) and the screen bleed isn't a crap shoot, I can't pull the trigger on this. 🍻
Very FAIR. Sticks are still snapping, GammaOS should fix but we need Stock OS fix as well (which they can then apply to their various android devices which are affected).
@@MikeySaxMusic I hope you are right, because nearly all content creators who have just recently did videos on the Cube have lightbleed, still... it's crazy that reviews this late since the release are still seeing this 🤦🏻♂️
You spent $200 on this device and $300+ on an Odin 2 and can't be bothered to pay 5 buck for ES-DE?? And now you complaint about your PS2 games not showing up and have to go use Retroarch to find your games. Are you serious???
IVE BEEN AFFLICTED W THE SICKNESS!!!! I should have clarified… I already have a micro SD that has most of the games that don’t come with the stock card. Those cards that come with don’t have the mainstream games… saving money is 1 thing… my spending habits are an entire whole other situation. But hey! It paid off… somehow I got on Retro Handhelds channel! Send me the link to your channel, I’ll sub it!
You say that until you set your CRT shaders for Genesis, and all of a sudden that aspect ratio SHINES. But hey! I love your perspective, are you more of a 16:9 fella? NOTHING WRONG W IT IF YOU ARE!!!! 😂
