Sonny è campione di catch, Charlie è inserviente in una palestra. Entrambi sognano di fare soldi e, poiché vivono a New York negli anni della grande crisi, l'unico modo per riuscirci è saltare sul carro della criminalità organizzata. Al servizio del boss "Sorriso", i due amici non hanno però sufficiente mancanza di scrupoli per eseguire i compiti che vengono loro affidati. Quando Sorriso se ne accorge sono guai!
Two nice guys, a wrestler and an ice-cream vendor, are mistaken for dangerous killers by an important local gangster, whose nickname is "Sorriso". With the help of many funny coincidences, they play along with Sorriso, "working" for him just to survive but, when they receive the order to butcher the components of a very indigent family, they are unmasked.
