Welcome back to Fish Like Us! Today we're going to show you our anchor trolley tips for catching big fish on your Hobie Pro Angler or PA17T.
Kayak fishing can be as simple or complicated as you want to make it. There are endless kayak accessories available to make your experience exactly what you wanted. And although the added gear isn't required, there's a good chance you'll start to buy in once you realize the extent of the options available. The important part is that you dial in your system for the gear you do have to create maximum opportunity with minimal effort.
We run a Hobie Pro Angler that's seventeen feet long, tandem, and carries a nine hundred pound weight capacity. It's called a PA17T. This boat is a lean, mean, fish fighting machine. With two seats, pedal-drives, a nine-hundred-pound weight capacity, and on-deck space to walk around, we have plenty of opportunities to make the most of our day - whatever that may entail.
On this particular day, we are out searching for our anchor. It seems an odd quest, but in the heat of the moment with a BIG fish on, we dropped it on purpose. Rather than using motors or sheer arm strength to work against your fish, you can release the anchor and allow the fish to pull the boat. We call it "going for a sleigh ride."
Our most recent sleigh ride resulted in a loss of anchor, so today, we're going to show you how to secure your anchor for an easy drop when needed. This method will allow you to make one swift move to save your fish, while further assuring your anchor is intact when the fight is complete.
If you have a small anchor or fish, you can pull anchor and drag it with you until you can get it in the boat. But in the instance that you need a more prominent anchor for deeper water and have a BIG fish on the line, this will save you and your anchor.

How are you going to release your anchor if you are anchored from one of your ends? Not quick, unless you explain how.

I use the carabiner as a quick detach point from the vessel.

That is not a quick release! And you should not attach your anchor to the trolley system!

What would you use Rick? Where would you attach the anchor? Thanks for watching!

The quick release rope should be attached to your kayak itself the trolly system is just a guide to get the kayak positioned correctly so the rope goes through the eye of the trolly to the kayak preferebly attached close or next to you the seat or a eye or something usr your own idea no gear should be on the quick release rope if it get snaged it wont release and just a simple knot should do that has a tag you pull and undo the knot. If you attach it to the system its no longer a quick release because you have to reel in the trolley first to get to the clip then still release the clip given there is no issues with wet hands or slippage by that time a boater or anything would have rammed you and it will be too late so use the eye on the trolley as a guide go through it and attach it to the kayak with a simple release knot it will save your life one day when you need it the most. Great setup by the way love the boat it looks amazing.
