Today we review Ancient Age 90 Proof , a budget offering from Buffalo Trace and our Budget Bourbon Bottle of the Month . It is from the same Mashbill as Blanton's , Buffalo Trace Mashbill #2 , but is it like Blanton's at all ? Well get into this bottle and find out !

Of course Ancient Age is Baby Blantons but much cheaper. They are both made by the Sazerac company. Both are made from the same mash bill #2. I just bought a fifth of AA for $12. It is the best budget bourbon to me. Smooth and very mixable. Way better than Jim Beam or Benchmark and the price is right. Wish i'd discovered it earlier.

For the fun of it I grabbed AA at 80 proof in a 1.75L. and it ain't bad. Plus it comes in a plastic bottle which will keep glass out the swimming pool. Cheers brother.

I quite like Ancient Age. I have yet to see the Ancient Ancient Age though. But, yeah - this one is a buy for sure!

I don't care for the standard 80 proofer much but the extra 10 proof points really helps the 90 proofer and only a couple dollars more . Cheers 🥃

Well, I’ve passed on this one a lot but did try Very Old Barton 100 proof the other day at around $15…and it ain’t no joke either for the money ‘ol son.

I actually like the Ancient Ancient Age which is also 90 proof. I did a blind for a friend with my Blanton's, and he said I know this is the Blanton's (pointing at the correct glass), but I prefer this one.

Yeah I would say this could beat a subpar to average Blanton's . A good Blanton's would beat this , but these days Blanton's is at a minimum 4X the price . So it's definitely good for the price . Cheers 🥃

AA90 or AAA10* are solid budget bottles. Can you tell the diff between them and the horsey, probably. But there's not enough to justify the $30+ price tag for the Horsey, NO. Only when you get to Horsey Straigt from the Horsey can you probably say it's worth around $50-60 maybe even Gold Horsey, but that's debateable. But once you've had Horsey there's really no reason to have it again in my opinion, just do a BourBen oh sorry Whiskey Uncensored and use that Horsey Bottle as a decanter for your Ancient Ancient Age's....Cheers n Have a Great Day Everyone.

Great advice Jiggs . Around here SRP on Blanton's is now 65 . When you consider that it drinks like a 30 - 40 dollar bottle , as you said , you only need to buy it once . Cheers 🥃

@@shredward666 - Yeah ...... I gotta disagree . So I ran a series for a while , " What can Blanton's Beat ! " Blanton's lost to many bottles that were under 30 - 50 bucks , in blind tastings . Granted this all person choice . But I would say based on that experience , it's about a 30 - 40 dollar bottle .
