Indian clay pots are unglazed and low fired. Repeated use makes subsequent curries or stews more tasty. They are completely food safe. In fact not glazing the pots is the secret of how the pots make much more delicious food. I am Chinese but my ancestors in Malaysia have been using (and preferring) Indian clay pots when cooking all sorts of curries and stews for at least 3 generations, and I am a potter so I know what I am talking about. High firing would make the clay body too brittle to be used for cooking over an open fire.

The correct proses of pot making is 1st clay softing is only leg ....After that softing clay put it on wheels then they make hand...It's old method u r showing modern method..
Am I wrong in thinking that leaving the river clay for one year is making it rusty?? Because iron rusts with time as we know and Indians want their clay products to be reddish in color. But that is not healthy for us isn’t it?? With continuous use for cooking some harmful iron will definitely go into our food.
Ofcourse clay soil do have minerals like Iron however they are oxidized Iron and non reactive. They absorb arsenic n don't transform it into a chemical substance...A smaller portions of Iron is good for health as u can see them even in tablets which are prescribed by Physicians for those who need it.. Am an Indian ,we luv our claypots to look reddish in colour for that the potters apply a coating of red brick soil powdered n sieved which isn't a chemical... It's prepared 💯 naturally... Thanks 🙏
