@@shoutingmuteness3902 He's not wrong, even the Romantics saw classical cultures as something it wasn't, but what they thought to be: the cradle of Western culture. The old Greeks were Anatolian first, and spoke Anatolian, which later turned into Ancient Greek. Alot of their culture is adapted from foreign cultures and religions (Persian, Egypt, Zoroastrians) because they were mainly merchants and would take those stories with them. Alot of what was Greece then, would be called Turkey today. These modern countries, Greece and Turkey, were once all part of the same civilization. Besides that, Ancient Greece isn't the cradle of Western civilization either. In West and Northern Europe are signs of autonomous civilizations that defied the Romans, but never heard of the Greeks. This idea everyone believes in, is something put into your mind by Michelin tourist guides and writers, like the Romantics, who used Ancient literature to stylize their own work into tragedies (and comedies) that would convey alot of emotion. Modern writers took a wager at those myths and questioned them in favor of Modernity, to be simply human without all these connotations and Marxist tendencies to turn history into our story. I don't mind people wanting to believe that we all share something with the old Greeks and Romans, there is truth that they were highly advanced for their time, which is probably why they conquered almost the entirety of Europe and the Mediterranean, and that alot of our technology is still based on their creativity, but at the same time one should wonder about the ancient cultures where one comes from. I have no Greek blood whatsoever. My ancestors hated the Romans. Why should I regard them with a higher respect than the Celts? Or the Germans? Simply because those cultures are not in fashion? Because they don't have wonderful touristy locations for me to visit? Or because the Romans erased that culture as best as they could? It makes no sense. Why not enjoy Greece for its beauty, its history, without trying to turn it into another myth?
@@DarkAngelEU I really do not know you two drink but you do not have the slightest idea of Greek history. be better read next time because you have been cut in the lesson.
I listened to this as I sat in the Agora underneath the Acropolis, reading Plato’s apology. Greece is absolutely amazing. I want to live there one day.
@@ruixingsong9039 that's your own prejudice. Would the philosopher agree? Can you really approach the ancient mindset through such a simplistic notion? Plato's main influences have been of a Pythagorean nature, was Pythagoras what you say too?
Hi As a fellow albanian who didn't cared much about ancient Greece until I got ill and started playing asasin odyssey my life changed big respect to my Greek brothers very beautiful music country landscapes and history im fascinated ! You say it very correctly, but the difficulties created by some bad politicians have nothing to do with the rich history of my country and the light, knowledge and noble sciences it gave to Western and not only civilization. thank you for the recognition. love from Greece 🇬🇷
This is nourishing the soul, one's essence, a journey beyond time and space, ancient Greece is an idea above all. I'm a Greek who has always felt closer to that past than any contemporary norm. This connection to that kind of flame has helped me enormously through challenges. When a Greek person feels love for such explorations often is misunderstood by others, there are many who don't remember or understand. Ancient Greek philosophy has to give anew, we are not done with it, such treasures cannot be drained although many have worked against that, inside and outside of the country. Humanity needs humanistic approaches, it is imperative we dig deeper and also use our intuition while doing that. Grace, a good measure of things, wisdom, these are the true riches. Oh, how I wish I could have seen all of these ancient Mysteries unfolding, these initiations are still inside of us waiting.
@@teachandfunnstuff3127 i was mindblown when i read meditations, could not believe a 2000yr old man could articulate himself like that. I was young when I read it though and now think people looking for "the way" are looking to return/discover animal roots rather than develop something new(even if they dont realize) meaning there have always been those who we'd call master philosophers. If anything modern human is further away from understanding ourselves due to our ridiculous lifestyle. Perhaps even, modern human is more violent than that of the past, life has become very cheap and we live in fear.
🇨🇾 Greece is a country of civilization and democracy! And that is how it should be respected! Thank you for this music! I have never had before such kind of music for meditation! 🙏
it feels like sitting under the Acropolis enjoying the breeze from the flicking leaves of the olive trees! It brings me memories of my visit to Vergina, Alexander's hometown in Macedonia (the Greek Municipality of Macedonia) If only we could experience Greece in its' glorious days! if only there was a way to live the life of an ancient Greek then we may be able to know how far off or how close we are to them! I'm Greek but i believe that the entire Western world has been so deeply affected by Greek values AND language (not always obvious!) that similarly to Alexander i believe that everyone can be a Greek no matter what their passport says. As Alexander correctly said in his Great's speech at Opis: "I am not interested in the descendance of the citizens or their racial origins. I classify them using one criterion: their virtue. For me every virtuous foreigner is a Greek and every evil Greek worse than a Barbarian" (Alexander the Great, 324 BC, His Great Speech at Opis).
Hi! I’m also Greek but I live in Australia. ikr I would love to see Ancient Greece physically that would be so cool!. and u also believe that the western world has been affected by Greek values (in a good way). But anyways thank you for the comment and the support i really appreciate it and I’m glad you enjoyed the music
@@klis432hz thanks I'm finalising my thesis and sometimes I need to listen to music only to keep my study time exciting! Beautiful music I'm planning to buy a harp one day and experiment with the sounds it makes. I remember from my ancient Greek classes in Greece that there is a 15 tune rhythm typical of ancient Greek chorus part during theatrical plays. It would worth taking a look for Greek ancient music lovers! I'm an expat Greek too living in the UK so as you can imagine, Greece is always in my heart and my mind! Thanks for the song peaceful and relaxing!
@@VictoryGR If you think of slavery in Ancient Greece as portrayed in Hollywood movies or in terms of the African slaves in America then you are wrong. It was a completely different story. But anyway no society is “perfect”. Having said that, I’d personally rather be a slave in Ancient Greece than be a slave in today’s western societies……
i sit here in andros where i now live in worry near athens and i listen to this area music with my dog hector and my cat odysseus and i really have relaxed so much. proud to have been Greek. 🇬🇷🇬🇷🇬🇷🙏
I am half greek but I feel more than that. And I am especially dragged towards ancient Ellas, I know that I have been connected and part of Ancient Ellas in my past lives.
It doesn't make much sense to be proud of ancient greek "ancestors". Genetically you have not much in common with people who lived there thousands of yrs ago. The gene pool was completely mixed during the last 3000 years. Maybe your ancestors came from Rome and settled in Greek in 403 AD.
@@0308frank Nah, here people spoke Greek and had many trade with Greece 'till Mussolini so I'm still part Greek. But btw I'm still proud of my culture, wich is way more similar to the Greek one than the others.

It's not authentic, just a fictional reimagination. These harmonies are very modern. In ancient times there were no chord changes (not even chords). Instruments were playing all the same notes in a very limited range.
So beautiful, ethereal, peaceful and relaxing. This makes me proud to know that i am part Greek and i came to find out, via my numerous DNA tests taken. Seriously, what a splendid surprise. Thanks for sharing this upload and peace, light and positivity to all.

Heartfull Greetings from Hellas (and not Greece) in the Mesopotamia, an other one strong, old and spiritual civilization that helped Hellenes to create humanity.. My love in the beautiful Mesopotamia and you!🤚🌹🤚🌹
It is yes, the ancient hyperborian grecia root is also the sanskrit root of ancient aryan india, but sanskirt much more older then greek language, but the greek langauge and the aryan vedic root is one and the same, coming from the far beyond northern pole and the inner eart civ - Hyperborea,, the scytian root the rus roots is also greek too
I was always soo obsessed with Ancient Greece idk why. Plus I played ac odyssey ( an Ancient Greek based game) which For some is hated by some people, no idea why. But it will always have a special place in my heart until I die
I had visit the Monastery of Hosios Lukas and Mistras too ! It was a unforgettable travel for me ! I like the Greek Gods and my favorite are Persephone , Athena , and Artemis ! And i have visit the Cape Sounion with the ruins of the Poseidontemple , and there was a amazing view to the Aegean Sea !

To all people here in the comments, I tell you this: Greece is not just a piece of land, but Hellas and Hellenism (the original names) are everywhere. They’re a way of thinking and living. You will find them in philosophy whenever you struggle to find a solution to your problems. Or to the arts whenever you’d want to create something unique. Definitely to mathematics when you’d want to innovate… Please don’t forget that legacy.

Very pleasant and relaxing music for which I'm grateful. Without claiming to be a musicologist , these melodies sound way too modern , western and tonal to be genuinely Ancient Greek ,which was fairly oriental sounding from the little I gather of (speculative) reconstructions of Ancient Greek music.
It is indeed beautiful. It was a tiring week; then I accidentally ran into this and found myself just sitting and staring before myself with an emptied mind, a very welcome state. I've always loved Greek culture and wondered how different the ancient scenes would be if we'd be able to see them with our own eyes, compared to what we depict judging from the remains. I've always longed to witness them. It's also great to see many nations connecting under such pieces. I'm not always on good terms with my species but these moments can help time to time. Thank you for creating it. Oh, and hello to everyone from around the world! Greetings from tiny Hungary. :)

THE GOOD NEWS IS EVIL WILL PAY SOON AND MANY WHO WILL EXIST AFTER THIS WAR AND HUNGER PART OF THE FUTURE WILL GET TO SEE PEACE FOR 3-4 DECADES ACCORDING TO ST PAISIOS PROPHESY AND I DO BELIEVE IN HIM VERY MUCH.
I’ve heard a lot of Greek music, the energy of some and the inspired idea expressed as uniquely and as best as they could but this is by far a REALLY SOLID one!! This goes in par with as quality as what I think is the best expression of Greek or ancient music that resonates with this time frame is Assassin’a Creed Oddyssey!
Something I have always wondered about is the astonishing way in which the ancient Greeks invented clever words and language to describe just about anything in the universe . It is almost as if they knew that no other civilisation was smart enough to invent the new words . So they just went ahead and did it first . The rest of us just followed after them . Mumbling .
I'm saving every penny. I must visit Greece at least once in my lifetime. Wishing the ancient culture experiences a great revival in the near future. It gave the world so many good things.
It has nothing to do with real ancient music. In ancient times polyphony wasn't discovered yet, there were no chord changes (not even chords). Instruments were playing all the same notes in a very limited range. It would sound very strange and annoying for our spoiled modern ears.
@@0308frank There were chords alright. This happens to be Celtic music from a well known album by Donald Walters. Still the music he made is based on Celtic music traditions written down in the Middle Ages but probably carried all the way from early Gregorian times.
It's so beautiful. I've been in Greece four years ago. Very beautiful, interesting and fascinating country by their history, Olympus, mythology, Gods, legends, warriors and music. I love it
