Kamiros, together with Lindos and Ialyssos, was one of the three city-states which, according to Homer, were founded by the Dorians who settled in Rhodes.
Kamiros was one of the three great Doric cities of the island, which were united with Ialyssos and Lindos in the 5th century BC to create the powerful city-state of Rhodes.
