AHO to all my indigenous peoples in the comments, so glad to see my sisters and brothers sharing some of their knowledge. It is always good when we can educate others.#NYMohawk #BearClan #Taino
The lipstick is called Otjize; a mixture of butterfat and ochre (the red rock which is made of ferric oxide and clay). It is commonly used by Himba women of Namibia by applying it to their skin and hair.
Ooh, thanks to you, I confirmed my hunch about it being the same mixture by the Himba tribe. The video below shares some of their diet & cultural traditions. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-1-6zb_TZ23U.htmlsi=okxOszlQ6Gd7LGCe
So do we all agree that she is the influencer who's not trying to sell us stuff but we are completely influenced by her personality? Are we all just in love with her or is that just me?
i remember i asked my history teacher once what they used as makeup back then (i think we were talking about ancient Egyptian pharaohs) and she said they used crushed pulverized rocks and i love that i’m seeing what that process may have looked like with my own eyes .. this channel is fabulous 🤩✨💜
I remember finding out as a kid that the colors in old paintings like blue, could be crushed sapphires. But this makes me think of mummy brown... made from mummies.
There is not just one ancient Egyptian makeup, cause the dynasties were all different. First ones was a people that no longer exist and no they weren’t black, they were brown skinned like North Africans. Next one was black and then Libyans and finally Romans…
I don’t think I ever saw better make up content anywhere, really truly obsessed!! Love everything and especially the music choices, a breath of fresh air in this mainstream world! Likelikelikelike💛💛
It is ochre, iron oxide i.e. rust. That said, cinnabar doesn't appear to be very toxic, actually, looking it up. There's no formal LD50 toxicity figures, but it's EXTREMELY insoluble in water or fat, which makes it hard to be all that toxic, would definitely be less so than elemental mercury.
Wow the color is so incredible. Versatile n I believe won’t expire ever 😅 Looking forward for more of your ancient makeup and skincare vids and shorts.
I love that you are spreading knowledge not just trying to make us buy crap. This is seriously one of my favorite channels. And I watch many different types of channels.
Wow, that’s cool to see how it actually worked, which it does, because I’ve always wanted to know ever since reading books about ancient cultures and civilizations as a kid.
It has a bunch of iron in it I forgot what it's called something with an O but it's super common and has been used for most of human history with many accounts of it being used in cave paintings. Its color derives from the iron oxidizing and can vary from red, to rust, and sometimes a mustard yellow
This is amazing. I wish I could have had you to follow as a child. As it was I spent hours pouring over Adrian Arpell's 'makeup for every face' books and Fangora and monster movie magazines for special effects makeup tips, become a cosmetologist but history of makeup was always a passion. Glad to see you in my senior years all the same. Bravo!
Wow, your so good at this stuff!!! I just found this channel and I think my mouth has been wide open in Awe thru every short I've watched from starting at your first one! Your beautiful and this content is very interesting and so much I never knew, thank you!! 🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻❤️❤️❤️🫶🏻🫶🏻🫶🏻
