May their legacy live on for millenia. Getae/Dacians (both name depict the same people), a big part of the foundation of European culture. Thank you for this amazing video!

It took 2 wars to conquer Dacia. The first war, Dacians scored a complete victory. One Roman legion completely disappeared, no survivor left. In the second war (which you depicted), Trajan gathered all the soldiers he could from the whole empire + alies. It was a long campaign, spanning 2 years. Trajan won and decreed 123 days of hollyday through all the Roman Empire to celebrate the greatest victory Rome had. He also built the Trajan's column, wich is the tallest of all columns (columns depict Roman wars). The gold extracted from Dacia fueled the Roman Empire and its war machine for over 160 years, greatly contributing to Rome's development. Later, all Dacians received full Roman citizenship, which they embraced. They called themselves "Romans" since them. In English, we say "Romanian", but in Romanian, we say "Român", which phonetically is "Roman" with the mouth slightly closed on "a".

Glad to see that someone is giving the dacians the respect they deserve, for many years this amazing civilization was just ignored (at least in the west), not long ago I heard that there are some who claim that their tunnels reached all the way to America, that's the funniest thing I've heard

@TPNST have you ever heard of prejudice, racism. Or what does the comment insinuates a lack of respect. There was this little shit atheist that's a filthy catholic now he was like, how come there's no eastern orthodoxy churches irl. As if the caths would ever allow that. But baptism, jehova witness are allowed to come to Romania. I wonder what's up with that . Why would Romania become one of these losers when they are already Eastern orthodoxy that literally doesn't make no logical sense.

Spaniards came to Philippines in a few ships, while Trajan brought to Dacia 30 legions or 165,000 men + few 10s of 1000s Germanic and Iranian foederati allies. Dacia was the 2nd power in Europe that time, for 2-3 centuries, and the richest. Few epic battles took place, between colossal forces. 150 years earlier before fell to Rome Dacian kingdom stretched from central Europe to north of Black sea and king Buresbista even interfered in making of Caesars in Rome. Until 100 AD Dacians defeated Romans all the time.

Dacians are thracians. THracians is a huge grouping of tribes that shared the same culture and language. Just in modern day bulgaria there were over 10 different tribes. Incidentally the roman emperor Gallerius who was born in Serdika (the city of the thracian Serdi tribe) what is today called Sofia was a dacian. Allegedly wanted to change the empires name to Dacian empire. Thracians did not call themselves that though. At least not early on.

Hey, liar, your map at sec 44 shows the part of Dacia that was occupied by Rome for about 150 years. The Dacia of the Dacians tribes was much bigger, four times bigger that what you showed to be Dacia. Why did you lie?? Did Vatican pay you to do this video?? We all know that Vatican is the real descendant. still extremely powerful, of the Roman empire. And it likes it Dacia was only what they conquered, up to the mountains full of gold in the middle of Transylvania, the heart of dacia.....

You forgot two real events that happened in the year 80 when the Dacians defeated the Romans killing even General Fuscus and for 20 years the Roman Empire paid tribute to the Dacians. Facts And in the year 105/106, the emperor Trajan gathered all the Roman battalions from the 4 corners of the world so that he could defeat the Dacian empire after which the Romans stayed in Dacia for about 200 years and they excavated over 500 tons of gold using only hand tools Trajan's Column in Rome embodies the Dacian people as a kind of respect to the Dacians being recognized as a brave and fearless people of their ⏲️ times ....Dacia = Modern Day România 👍Cheers mate.🍻

All your depictions of "dacians" is wrong. They wore a typical of the thracians "phrygian" hat which was bent forwards. You don't show one genuine depiction of a dacian in the drawings.

@ Sofia-0001 And you show that you started your research with a preconception belonging to the 19th century when Geto-Dacian term was first use . You have no evidence for the mentioned cultures ,Urnfield and Dnieper ,that Dacians and Getae were the same people . Also, I don't know how you put those people , you pretend are the same , in two different cultures , miles away from each other . Ethnonym "Dacian" is first use only in 1st century BC . And than , a difference was made between the two group of people . We have enough evidence to conclude that Dacians are a late apparition of mixed ethnicities which included Celts, Agathyrsi , Thracians , Illyrians beside the Getae . And most probably were not a people but a ruling class . I have mentioned a study in this regard. We have no solid evidence of similar to Getae population in the Carpathian Basin before 3rd century BC . So , let me refute your statements . You attribute a false identity to some late people . I am waiting your evidence that Dacians and Getae were the same people , before 2nd century BC .

dacia was totally depopulated by the romans in Trajan's invasion. The ones that were not killed were enslaved and carted off to Rome. Secondly centuries later the Romans moved all the remaining population south of the danube as these lands were too prone to barbarian raids. and difficult to protect The descendants of the dacians exist but south of the danube not north. Emperor Galerius was a dacian born in Serdika.

Worng my friend...the romans conquered less than half of Dacia, from Danube up to Salaj county where they built Porolisum, the biggest roman fortress in Europe and they did this to show their power and to steal the Dacian's gold (few tons) to pay their legions and to finance their empire, it's impossible that all Dacians were terminated or enslaved, after the roman retreat the locals reformed in small tribes or villages but they were constantly attacked by invaders like celts, huns, avars, tatars, scythes, etc knowing Dacia was a rich and powerful province but vulnerable now...

Well , you failed to demonstrate how old are the Dacians . Do tell who mention them first time and when ! As far as I know , Herodotus which speaks first about Getae (presumably related to Dacians) , do not mention any Getae north of Carpathian Mountains , where Dacians supposedly lived. The Greeks believed that all people living north of Danube were Scythians , with few Getae living in the Danube Valley . Power centre of the Getae was south of Danube though . Also, on the supposed territory of the Dacians , Celts lived for a while and before them Agathyrsi (of Iranian-Scythian origin) - both being recognized by historians as having a major contribution in the formation of Dacian people . Also I think that there is no historical mention of Dacians until 1st century BC and only around the change of the era or 1st century AD , where they assimilated with the Getae , by some Roman authors . So, when did the Dacians appeared in the Carpathians and where they came from ? I think you don't talk about history here, but about fairy tales .
@TheHiddenSecretsOfTheWorld
@TheHiddenSecretsOfTheWorld Год назад
Hello! We always appreciate hearing different viewpoints and we are always up for a meaningful discussions (and history is even better) It's evident that some of your observations are on point, but you also have a number of inaccuracies that I will detail later in the comment, feel free to read, it will however be a bit long but maybe you will learn something new! So shall we dive into business? Herodotus indeed mentioned the Getae, but other ancient historians, including Strabo, Ptolemy, and Tacitus, also documented the Dacians in various historical contexts. This diverse array of historical accounts provides substantial evidence of the Dacian presence in the Carpathian region. Greek classifications of peoples north of the Danube as Scythians were generalized due to limited knowledge. However, Strabo, a reputable Greek geographer and historian, (may know his work 'Geographica.') He clearly identified the Getae, associated with the Dacians, as distinct from the Scythians. (Not the same entity) The coexistence of Celts and Agathyrsi in the Carpathian region doesn't negate the existence of the Dacians. Archaeological findings, including distinctive Dacian artifacts, burial practices, and settlements, provide concrete proof of their presence and culture. Archaeologists have unearthed a treasure trove of artifacts that bear the hallmarks of Dacian culture. Dacian pottery, adorned with unique designs, has been discovered in various excavations, distinct from neighboring cultures. Dacian burial sites reveal unique rituals and customs, such as the 'Dacian Draco,' (FUN fact: it MAY BE the inspiration for the dragon banner from mount and blade 2 - marvelous game btw) a dragon-shaped standard worn by Dacian warriors during burial ceremonies. In addition, archaeological excavations have uncovered Dacian settlements, often fortified hilltops known as 'Dacian fortresses,' reflecting a sophisticated society with a distinct organizational structure. In conclusion, in addition to the ancient documents - when technological developments and new discoveries are also added, it can be argued strongly enough that there is clear and strong evidence that proves that the Dacians were an independent entity
@seaman5705
@seaman5705 Год назад
I guess you do not understand what I said . There is no mention of Dacians before 1st century BC - when Strabo lived . The most assimilations of Dacians with Getae comes from Roman authors of 1st and 2nd century AD , when Ptolemy and Tacitus lived . The Celts and the Agathyrsi do not exclude the existence of the Dacians in 1st century AD , but it excludes their existence in the 7th to 2nd century BC when nobody mentioned any Dacians living in the Carpathians . But their predecessors were mentioned(Celts and Agathyrsi) , even though Greeks made some mistakes . BTW , one of the Greek exaggeration is about the number of the Getae population which was appreciated by Herodotus as being second to Indians . But same Herodotus told us that Persian invasion of Greece and Thracia was done with 2.5 million people !!! About the Dacian culture (not civilization) - it differs from the Getae culture of the south of Danube - so Getic origin of the Dacians is problematic . The best scenario is that very late in the 2nd - 1st century BC , some Getic tribe left the Getic homeland and migrated north of Danube into the Carpathian mountains were they mingled with descendants of the Celts and Agathyrsi to become the Dacians . But there are many which talk about a Caspian or Iranian homeland of the Dacians - in this case they are a Scythian/Sarmatian group which mingled with existing population living inside the Carpathian Arc . About the Dacian civilization again - it is well known that Dacians didn't write , didn't left much inscriptions or any book to talk about their kind , about their achievements or about their deeds and administration . So - NO civilization, but merely a culture , not better and not worse than their neighbors . Might have been brave and good fighters , but so were many of the barbaric world . So they were not a very old people , but a relatively recent mixture which dominated Carpathian space for a couple hundred years . Were eradicated following the two Dacian wars with Trajan and the ones of the Carpi with the Empire . After 318 and the final defeat of the Carpi by Constantine , the Dacian culture vanished forever . What you and many others claim is just mythology !@@TheHiddenSecretsOfTheWorld

Well , you do not support your opinion with anything - historical fact or archeological discovery . So I will ignore you as uneducated or politically/nationalistically motivated . And to educate you a little , I will explain how the Dacians came to be . They were just a gang of mixed Getae and other people mercenaries from the Balkans, which invaded the space in the Carpathian Arc in the 2nd century BC , inhabited by the descendants of Agathirsy and Celts .@@RedDeadRedemption2World
