I would have thought it was Might Guy vs Kisame in Naruto Shippuuden that it reminded of, cause the only similarity with Demon Slayer is the presence of water. Mash can't face any considerable threats from the students, because even the best students are outclassed by the magic police and the top professors...and Mash has already shown he is beyond that level even.

The doll is not literally a human(his mom)-turned-doll, no. It's more of a security blanket. An emotional support doll, for lack of a better word. The thing around Mash's wrists are weights that works as his strength/speed suppressors. I feel like that's a big spoiler already. So, I'm sorry.
